My bad. I was somehow under the impression that he changed something in the chapter about the RRHOF, but I checked again and it's exactly the same in the two versions - he has kept it all.

The stories about Slash having someone else do "his dirty work for him" (having Matt get rid of the Buckcherry guys) and firing one of VR managers behind Matt's back are also intact.

He has changed some parts in the chapter about Snakepit (the bolded has been edited out):

I guess this was the moment when I stopped really trusting Slash. But at the same time, I also came to accept that side of him; I now know exactly who he is. Back then, though, I wasn’t expecting it, and it really hurt me. I was really bummed out about the whole thing, because I genuinely thought we were going to form something new on our own. But instead, it just became his solo project.

We went into his house and he played me the record. I knew I didn’t like the singer after just one song, and I told him so. “I think he sucks.”

“Come on, man,” Slash said. “Let’s try another song.”

“Here’s what you can do, Slash,” I told him. “You can replace my drums with some other drummer, and take my shit off that fucking record.”

Wonder what he has against Eric Dover? They basically made a very gnr sounding record

Be careful what you wish for.

Some things are better off left behind in he past.  After HS and Absurd, I am honestly not sure I want to hear new music of this line up.

Same I hope the mixes are better.

it’s interesting listening to Caram Costanzo’s brilliant job on Chinese Democracy and then listening to Hardskool.

i feel like they went backwards with that but maybe that was just the vibe

You know I’m still waiting for something to happen where there’s some new album that drops but it has better, sorry, Madagascar, ChiDem, hard school, absurd, state of grace, atlas shrugged, the general, perhaps, oh my god and maybe 2 others, but will contain Slash and Duff.

I’d love to hear Slash/Duff/Fortus arrangements on the old stuff.

I feel like the track list you just put is the most realistic thing we’ll ever need get for a “new” gnr album.

  4. Lately I’ve unironically been listening to Scraped. I collect records and thought it was a shame I didn’t have CD on vinyl so I found it on eBay (somewhat pricey but hey, it still had its Best Buy wrapping). Never really got into that song too much but i find it interesting. I’ve definitely played Side A of the second half of the album (Scraped, Riad, Sorry, I.R.S.) more than the rest. The compression sounds nice on vinyl. I’ve always liked the way the Village album sounded more but having this one in hi-def makes it sound so crisp

Anyway scraped reminds me a lot of “Quick Song”, and just that hard rock sound that was lacking heavily on the album.  I would take an album of songs more like the 3rd quarter of the album.

On top of that, he sounded awesome on it. If that was single in 2006 while they toured North America, I think those would’ve been the anthems and a cool comeback

    A depressing thought, really.

What’s depressing is that if CD was perceived differently (FOR WHAT IT IS) I bet he would’ve been much more inclined to put the rest of the songs out. Would’ve been nice for the hardcore fans. I’m not saying the reunion wasn’t nice for hardcore fans, but after 2017 it just came off to me as a money grab.
I mean image paying money to see the same exact setlist in your town two or three years later but now the band is slightly more boring to watch 😂 sounds like a money grab to me.

Then I thought I was wrong when they put absurd and hardskool out. It’s like they used absurd/hardskool to build up hype and then bam, nothing. Hardskool isn’t even a setlist staple 🤦🏻‍♂️ Guess I do have it right. I’m still holding out hope that they got a couple left in the chamber. I mean really? Absurd over Perhaps? Over Atlas Shrugged?

I have read that Axl wanted to make GNR more industrial and GNR wanted to stay in the Appetite For Destruction era.... 🤔

That’s interesting and most likely true. You can really tell the 1998-2004 band had its own sound. To me, it’s always seemed like Robin was there to add that industrial element and Ashba was hired to play the songs close to how Slash did.
The old-new gnr had its potential :/

  7. I really like the Chinese Democracy we got. I think it aged pretty well and there’s a lot of ear candy if you listen to the vinyl with good headphones

If it went under “Axl Rose” I wonder if we would’ve gotten more industrial songs. I’m sad that if we do get “State of Grace”, the mix will probably get Hardskool’d
