  1. In 2002, the band attempted a tour, it failed dismally, and the band disappeared. 2003-2005 were probably the apex of negativity, mostly because we had no idea if we'd ever see the band again. Then, mid-to-late 2005 as I recall, we got Better, Catcher, and TWAT. The band came back, and things clicked. 2 years later, Chinese Democracy, not to mention a band consistently touring. This is the most stagnant the band's felt in a long time, but the negativity of "I wish they'd change what they're doing" is a drastic improvement over "will they ever do anything again?"

For me it's the other way around. The early 2000s were a hard time to, that's right. But at least there was always the hope that something was brewing secretly and that someday, new music would be released and/or great concerts would be played. Correct, there was the danger that neither of this would happen, but there was this exciting hope too.

Now, I don't have this hope any more. I do check the boards daily and discuss (obviously), because there is a last glimmer of hope in my heart. But I do not really expect anything. Neither new music nor cool concerts. And no, I'm not wishing to relive my youth and see a 2X year old Axl again. I loved what I saw 2006 - the power, the energy, the fun. The recent concerts on the other hand ... no.

And I personally feel that I'm on some kind of mainstream path here for the forum. Each year more and more of the hardcore defenders seem to quit it. I personally defended Axls performances until Rio 2011 - still do. Since then? No. Rio was my breaking point. Each tour start, I waited (and hoped) if Axl got his old fire back, but each year he seems to care less.

That saddens me, but it's his job. I have no clue what's going on in his head and his life so I won't judge. I seriously only hope that there is no bad stuff going on, that he's still having fun. He has earned that. I don't want to end him like Elvis or something like that.

(And I still think there could be wonderful music in store. He doesn't have to relive the hard rock stuff till he's eighty. He has such a hand for melodies. Do music woth acoustic guitars and pianos only. It doens't have to be HARD rock to make me happy, it has to be beautiful music - which can be quiet and down to earth.)

  2. Zakk's playing has become less and less tasteful as he gets older, it's like he is de-evolving

That's true and sad. I wish he'd do something like "Book of Shadows" again.

  3. Wow. I just checked Celebration Day out. Plant really still has it, didn't expect that.

The version of Kashmir on that DVD IMO is one of the definitive versions of the tune. Plant really shines, especially the last 2 or 3 minutes of it

    Good god, that's breath-taking.

And makes a Guns N' Roses fan a little sad...
