  1. What a band. Not Guns N' Roses.. but I'm so glad I saw this line-up. I'll take Axl doing these vocals over 2011-2013 any day. The energy and hunger are gone. The clean voice actually sounds really good at times and powerful. He's not struggling or out of breath. Seeing them live in 2002 was definitely better than when I saw them in 2012.

  2. Just got my overpriced general admission floor tickets. Can't wait to rock this place to the ground! I have a feeling something special is going to happen at this show

    How much did you pay.

    $145.00

    Beats 350 for Balcony Seats.

  3. Man, I'd give anything to be able to tap Axl's phone and listen in on his conversations about the band.

Perhaps the NSA has recorded Axl Conversations in their warehouse storage facilities. Personally I'd like to use this to find out what the hell happened to his voice between the end of 2010 and Rio 2011.

We know that MSL said that their was a new version of This I Love or Better with Vocals that were even raspier than the album. My theory is that when recording these maybe he felt that he had taxed his voice too hard in 2009 / 2010 so he made the conscience effort to save his voice for future recording sessions. I think perhaps that between 2007 and 2009 with the album being released he had an extended opportunity to rest his voice which may be why he hit his vocals so hard on the 2009 / 2010 tour and when recording again he made the effort to save it.

I hope they take a break from playing live and focus on the studio. Maybe after Axl lays down vocals he'll once again play shows where he sounds good.

  4. i think axl is dubbing his vocals, that's why it's taking so long. no way in hell they will release this with axl sounding like mickey mouse being raped by donald duck.

We hope, 'cause he sounded damn awful and weak at that show in Las Vegas.

Unlike Live Era I highly doubt that Axl is Dubbing his Vocals, unfortunately. I think we would have heard it in the trailer, which contained some pretty weak vocals.

  5. Two of my Fav artists. 2 Pac and Axl. If 2Pac is still alive he and Axl should do a song together.

Rock Band and Guitar Hero is the best thing to ever happen for Multi Track Availability. Axl should Pen a New Video Game Deal so we can get Multi Tracks from the Classic Lineup. Too Bad the Jungle Multi Track doesn't allow you to separate the Drums and Vocals.

  6. Slash also supplied the public with some bitchy comments at the same time including one where he said he 'never liked playing with Izzy.' One member leaves and he suddenly becomes the antichrist, just because of leaving and hence becomes a subject of Slash-inspired revisionism.

This. Slash was almost as outspoken a critic of Izzy as Slash was during the Use Your Illusion days. I remember reading interviews with him talking about how Gilbty was the real deal, and he could actually play the songs with Gilby instead of Izzy.

That's so fucked up. Slash should owe most of his career to Izzy. If Izzy hadn't come up with so many of the GNR hits Slash would be a nobody to this very day. How many hits did Slash write compared to Izzy? If Izzy wasn't there to lay the groundwork for Slash to solo over and Axl to sing over there would be No Guns N' Roses. They even had to invite Izzy back after 1993 to write songs for them because Slash and Gilby couldn't do it. And then it took Axl another 12 years without him to put an album out. And we all know how that went. Hating on Izzy is not something Slash or Axl should do.

  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LK3KFek2hM

MJ performed Beat It with many guitarists over the years, Jennifer Batten, Orianthi, Gregg Wright and Eddie himself...

This is by far the worst take on it I've heard.

We all know that Slash can't tap or cover EVH. This is nothing new... Look at the Van Halen RRHOF video. He just did it as a favor to MJ. It didn't even sound that bad, with so many of Axl's employees butchering Slash's great work, Slash has the right to butcher a few other artists once in a while.

  8. Guns should use this DVD release, if it ever comes out... As a way to slip in some studio tracks. That would be a nice thing to do for the Diehards that actually follow this poorly managed / marketed band that calls themselves Guns N' Roses.

It's going to be packaged with the CD-Sessions unreleased tracks (my opinion).

I don't think I'd buy a GNR DVD post 2010... but I would buy it if they had unreleased tracks on it. They have so much material apparently.. IE Brain's Remixes and all the stuff that MSL talked about. I don't see any reason preventing Axl from throwing these on a DVD release. Which begs the question... how much studio work have Brain / Axl / Bumblefoot and DJ done since 2008. They seem to have got some stuff done from what we've heard. Is it possible other work has been going on behind the scenes that that our pessmemistic attitude is unwarranted.

i cannot wait for this! Trailer seemed pretty great. I don't see why they'd release a trailer and then with hold the actual product. yall just need to learn some patience.

GNR's track record speaks for itself. IE Better Video, VH1 London Broadcast / Cinema Release, massive delay of CD... Didn't they film a documentary in 2006? and 2010? Didn't they even do one for the UYI Tour? I think we had patience once upon a time but that it shriveled away. This is the band that took a decade to make up the Philly show in 2002 after all.

  9. How come GNR tickets have gone up so much in price?

ok youre setting people up for some really bad beta jokes with that question lol

Why would anyone make a joke at Beta's expense? She doesn't do anything to warrant people making fun of her at all, there is nothing weird about Axl's relationship: personal and professional with Team Brazil. At All!

  10. Don't think they hate it. I think many tracks wouldn't sound right without Axl and a keyboardist on them.

As for New GNR... I think that it's hard to fit all of AFD, some CD and more illusions tracks into the set. Especially if they are going for the Nostalgia angle, it's kind of hard to find a reason to put more deeper cuts into the set, especially the tracks that are hugely Slash influenced. I think we were very lucky to get Estranged, Don't Cry and Civil War. And those were some of the more popular tracks. I'd love for them to drop the covers of LALD / KOHD for Yesterdays, Don't Damn Me, Dead Horse or Right Next Door to Hell though. Coma... NEVER. Some of those tracks would be too challenging for Axl to sing, and I don't think he's in a place where those songs mean close to what they used to for him. I do think they are both very proud of them though, and definately do not hate them at all.

  11. So...almost none of the regulars can go to this it seems? Wonder if that should be a sign to the band that they need to start giving a bit more notice for gigs... :book:

And most of the regulars have seen this show multiple times. Paying $150-$400 for nothing new (even if the show is great) isn't a great value-proposition. I love seeing Les Miserables, but I only see it once every five - ten years.

Once Axl exhibits any form of appreciation to his fans I'll be back on board. But with repetitive shows and stale setlists, lack of new music, less than impressive vocals, rather expensive ticket prices (granted, it's the same ballpark as other bands, though most of those other bands are comprised of the original/classic lineup), gouging VIP packages that yields very little in return, and a fan-club that borders on insulting to the hardcore faithful, I don't see why any fan would return the love. Nevermind the middle finger he gave to fans over the R&R HOF issue. The only fan friendly gesture I've ever seen Axl perform in the last ten years was handing out water bottles at the end of the concert and letting me party with him (which was awesome, but mostly of my own doing - I'll explain in two years time).

There just isn't the same excitement around this band to warrant spending $150 - $400 on a concert. And this is coming from a guy who has Alan Niven's RIAA Gold Album Award for AFD on his wall, a GNR tattoo that runs from shoulder to elbow on his right arm, and a vanity license plate that says WTTJ (I drive an Audi TT, so it has a double meaning). If Axl is capable of losing me as a fan, then what hope is there for most other diehards out there.

I agree with this 100 percent... The same exact reasons why I didn't go to the Bowling Alley Show. After seeing them in Hartford and Roseland I didn't really see any point in going for Subpar Vocals and the same setlist... hell it was even missing a couple songs from what I read, and that wasn't just because Axl had the shits. How many times can they tour the same show with venues getting smaller every year.

Is it just an open floor? I don't understand how tickets prices can range so much. Unless there's only two prices,Wait where $400 is for VIP access and $150 is for regular access

Wait 400 bux for one person? What the eff For? To get autographs and pics with people who weren't in Guns N' Roses... and who aren't Axl. Anyone wanting to pay those kinda prices for access to people who are literally employees, have no creative say in the band, and haven't contributed towards any album but Chinese... that's INSANE!

  12. How come GNR tickets have gone up so much in price? I swore I only paid 100 bux per ticket at the Roseland. On a side note it's cool that Canadians get to have the UCAP experience tho. Too bad that Axl's not sounding too good nowadays.

  13. You guys who now are perpetuating this stance that AFD was written in a rehearsal room together, that simply isn't true. You should check out how the songs on that album came about.

How would you feel going into a jamming session if you paid the other guys to do it anyway? It's a mess. Bumble is flying his greedy colors here.

    :(

Ax's paying them for their services. He has no delusions about it. Watch the Slash discussing SCOM video on youtube. Axl was upstairs when they were jamming on it, and then he came down and said play that thing you were playing before. AFD was very much a collaboration effort.

  14. Every performance of that song on the Dust N' Bones leg was dedicated to Izzy. Remember, Izzy, circa 1993, was to Axl what Slash is, circa 2000-13.

On a side note, what a killer riff. The band sounded incredibly awesome right after Axl's crybaby rant.

This is back when Guns N' Roses was Guns N' Roses. You don't hear any riffs that even come near it on CD. Yet people say that the 'IRS' riff is sick and that it is such an amazing 'Rocker' LOL. This is one example where Sorum kicks ass.

One of the biggest pains about CD - more than the overproduction - was the lack of riffs. People say Better is a good riff? Yes, if you are fuckin Korn. GN'R, the real gnr, wrote riffs as good as Iommi.

Axl was still kinda pissed off Izzy negotiated to get more money from contributions to AFD before he would fill in for Gilby. I don't blame Izzy, he had beat his demons of addiction and wanted to secure his financial future. I give him a lot of credit for staying clean in 1991 and 1993. Axl still seemed to be pissed at Izzy in 2002... He had that one rant about how Izzy couldn't hear himself because they had to turn down his amp to play the songs. IE being so messed up he'd be playing the songs in the wrong key.

I thought that Axl had let all animosity go when he reunited with Izzy on stage in 2006. But even after those shows Axl was cited as saying something on how Izzy selfishly negotiated himself a financially lucrative deal for the shows he played. Axl can say all he wants about Izzy and money, but I think Izzy deserves every penny, especially for the riffs he's written over the years. Axl seems to be a lot richer even though he didn't contribute as much in the song writing department. I so hope 'Down by the Ocean' surfaces one day.

CD definitely lacks riffage, which is sad since Axl said it would contain the most rock n' roll of new albums. I hate when people cite the solo's as proof that CD is a good rock album. There is barely any aggression on the album and only a handful of songs that are actually guitar driven. People say a song like Shacklers Revenge rocks but even the main riff is nothing other than a boring rhythmic palm mute progression... and the rocker IRS is nothing more than a boring ring out progression. Boring Ringouts with heavy overdrive distortion don't make up for bad Riffs. The end of twat is the same progression that goes on for over three minutes... no changes (which used to be a GNR trademark) Not only that but Axl's piano writing even got lazier. His songs used to be an unpredictable journey.... You didn't know where the song was going through tempo changes and key changes. CD lacked a lot of that, and his writing seemed to get lazier and predictable. Even his lyrics didn't live up to his previous efforts... and we've all heard the vocals. There's no comparison... it doesn't live up to the GNR name in terms of musical integrity.

So the riffs on CD are not only nothing special... boring and repetitive, but they go on forever and have very few changes. When they want to add a different element they pulled out the acoustics. This from a band that had some of the most killer riffs on their debut album and then for their double album incorporated piano and even more complex song writing changes. I think Coma has over 30 different chords? Musically CD is not on the same level as GNR's previous releases and much of that is to do with the guitar elements. It doesn't matter if you add ten layers of electronic effects of bubbles or fart noises. Especially when it doesn't add anything to the song, but just muddies the elements that are already there. Throwing a hip hop drum loop on top of a piano doesn't improve Finck's sloppy noodling or magically make the out of place overdriven power chord ringouts Epic, because they're not. You can throw in all that shit, but it doesn't make up for the missing elements of a Guns N' Roses song.... Great song writing, great riffs, great changes, great vocals, and great lyrics. The ingredients that made Guns N' Roses great in the first place.

  15. Tommy is great, I've always liked him; I have to bring up that recent interview with Marc Maron again, though, and say it kind of soured me a bit in terms of how I view him within GN'R. Seems like it's just a paycheck for him and I kind of (naively, I guess) assumed after almost two decades it would mean a little more to him. But he's great. The Replacements were great. If their reunion is as successful as I think it will be, I'm not sure how long he'll even stick around with GN'R. Replacements have become such a bigger band since their split-up.

He seemed genuinely excited to play new music at Rio III. I think if they were a more productive band it would mean more.

What are we fans to do? We followed Axl as he single handedly replaced every member of one of our favorite bands. Patience isn't the word. We waited from 1993 to 2008 for the next Guns follow up. He replaced every musician for a totally new sound. Yet he still had 'That Voice' The most distinctive vocalist of our time. He comes around in late 2009 early 2010 sounding amazing. He tours 2010 sounding really f'n good... his performances are passionate and the sets are long.

Then he takes a half a year off and comes back sounding worst than ever. I used to listen to bootlegs all the time, not any more. The passion is gone... they've literally become a Vegas Act.

However this is made worst is the Band's inability to follow through with any live releases. Ever more tragic is that since DJ joined over four years ago the band has not gotten together to write one song, not to mention they haven't made plans in over four years to record anything besides 'Pink Panther.'

What are we even following? A musician in decline? Unmotivated by his talented team of five star musicians who's only job is to play other people's material as he gasps through the set winded?

Somethings gotta' give. In life if you are not improving, you are getting worst... And I've never seen such a drop off in ability from a Frontman in my life, but like I said, even worst... no artistic output Zero... zilch.
