I think Madagascar wouldn't have any solo. And The Blues we already have a bucket-less version from the Village leaks.

Not contradicting you, genuinely looking for help here.

    - Rough Mixes #1 has a mix of The Blues dated 10/23/00.  Is this the version we have that he's not on?  He would've been in the band for over half a year at that point.

    - The Chinese Democracy Rough Mixes CD is dated June 1st of 2001.  Been a while since I've heard the village stuff, but, I think I remember him on this one.

Then again, Brain joined in the Spring/Summer of '00, and we don't have him on a take until June of 2001, right?

Guess Axl takes his time getting to know people..geez LOL

Axl tried at the very last minute to bring Bucket back in 2006. I believe this is one of the reason that they didn't say who was gonna replace him prior to the first Hamerstein show - of course, we now know that there was a huge drama behind Bumblefoot joining the gig AFTER the band had already worked out the Robin/Richard arrangements and technical stuff.

I believe this to be accurate.

I don't have screenshots for proof, so, take it or leave it, I guess, but, the mod on the Bucketheadland forum (who definitely had direct access to at least people around Bucket, if maybe not the man directly) made it clear that there were at least overtures made, possibly a direct contractual offer, in an effort to get him to return before the Hammerstein run.

Part of GNR's entire schtick is the sense of going off the rails at any time. Bucket didn't have that. There was not one dangerous bone in that guy's body. He could play a lot of notes, but if there's no struggle there's no intensity, then what's the point?

GN'R hasn't been that band in more than thirty years.

Ashba's level of talent is not even being worthy of tuning Bucket's guitar.

Seriously, Ashba doesn't know how to tune a guitar.

    Man alive...that's absolutely shiteous!

I don't see too many people rationalizing or making excuses for GnR on here. I am sure most fans here don't like the way the band operates, I sure don't, but a lot of them have accepted it, though, and take it for what it is, instead of dwelling on how abnormal this band is all the time.

I'm certainly not saying anything derogatory about you, I'm speaking strictly about the content of the post, but, I genuinely can't wrap my head around posts like this around here.

It's like some form of weird cognitive dissonance.  Any criticism is met with a dismissive hand-waving that says, "Hey, I really don't care, it doesn't bother me too much."

I don't spend my real life dwelling on GN'R and their lack of productivity, either, but, in the context of this board, and these conversations, we're all spending time free on here, and many of have us have post counts in the thousands.  Fandom takes many different forms.  We obviously all care to a degree well beyond what a casual fan would.

To me, people who complain about excessive criticism use that as an easy shield, because maybe they have a hard time admitting that opinions which may differ from their own really bother them.

And honestly, this. This right here is what's destroyed a lot of my personal passion for GN'R. If the guy running the band doesn't seem to give a shit, why should I?

I know I say this all the time, but I'm so glad I'm constantly looking out for new music and new artists. I have no shortage of great music to listen to from bands who actually care about their art and their fans.

    Amen, brother...preach!

I'm not trying to insult anybody, 'ya know?  I love the crew here.  It's just that I feel like I can really get a sense for the people who listen to a wide swath of music and a diversity of bands simply by reading the posts here.

I sometimes feel like those who constantly rationalize and make excuses for GN'R's perpetual dysfunction are almost completely unaware that there are still countless bands out there who still record and release albums on a regular basis.

I love how this board consists of one group of people who discuss topics such as this as though there actually is a plan in the works to record new material, and thus we should wonder about whom to bring in to produce it (to put the cart before the horse, as we say), and another group of people who choose to face reality and request changing nonsensically named fantasy world thread names.

I blame the band for giving us so little to talk about all the time.  We've all driven each other mad.

Critique, analyse, whatever, I'm not against that idea, I just think sometimes it gets overdone, that's all

God bless you...You think it gets done to death over here you should go hang out over there for a while...yowza!

Anyway, you're off the hook, then.  Be glad you don't care.

I could make you a few lists if you'd rather not talk about this topic?   I kid, I kid;)

Agreed, I like it! I wish the backing vocals were a bit louder, but that's it. I like it.

I do dispair at the over-analysing that goes into every single beat around here sometimes. It's music, just turn it up and enjoy it for what it is! 🙄

Steve Hoffman is a well-known mastering engineer.  The Steve Hoffman forum is one of the largest music forums on the internet, with hundreds of thousands of users.  There are plenty of people out there who care.

That's all good and well that these types of things don't bother you.  If you can crank it up and not worry about it, I guess you're lucky, in a sense.

That doesn't dismiss or negate the fact that these things exist.  Music recording is part science and part art, and there are definitely a million small choices made that can affect the end result.

  9. Bob Rock & Nick Raskulinecz are great choices.  Unfortunately, Axl is just as unlikely to allow someone to push him outside of his comfort zone at 60 as he was at 30.

I also find Nick's albums, while great from a sonic standpoint, are way too compressed.  He ends up ruining half of the meticulous work he did to get those great sonics by dynamically compressing  and digitally limited everything to oblivion.

People complained about Robin's sloppy live performances as well. One of those, you didn't know how much you loved them until they were gone situations. :D

100% about Robin. Glad you mention him, because I meant to include him, but would have ended up going off on another tangent, so I stopped short LOL

I was one of those people way back when slagging him...Boy oh boy, some of those solos on the early shows.  Once the CD stuff starting leaking out and I could really listen to what he was doing on the new songs, though, I gained such an appreciation for his talent.
