  1. Over on Amazon they have the date set to: February 12, 2008

And seeing as the price is only £8.98, then I'd say the album is no double album.

    Link

I would also add that if you really think that this album will only cost 9 bucks, you're out of your fucking mind

Here in the UK album prices have fallen. AFD can be brought for about £5.95 from record stores. Amazon tends to sell albums chaper than record stores (lower overheads and all that), so i'd say £8.98 for CD is about right.

So no, I am not out of my mind :)

  2. Metallica are supposed to be getting back to their 'Black' album roots.

Which should be good, if they pull it off. Axl take note ;)

I never liked Metallica until I heard ..And Justice For All. The Black album is good, but I find ..And Justice For All so much better. After the Black album, I lost interest after I heard, Load. I checked out Master of Puppets, and that didn't do much for me either, although the album cover is kinda good.

  3. 'Sydney 23rd Show'

..there's been 23 shows in Sydney alone? wow! - how many more to go? :D

In all seriousness i've lost interest in Gn'R. Back in 2001 I thought the new line was interesting, but now I sense fans have grown bored, me included. The post count on MyGnR and HTDGTH is way low at the moment.

If and when the album arrives, i'll download it, just to see what its like. If i'm surprised and it turns out really good, then i'll buy an original copy, but I have a feeling the new band are struggling to make finished music.

  4. From The Age in Melbourne:

Axl rises to the occasion for triumphant return

With his braided red hair, leather jacket and dark sunglasses, Axl Rose was every inch the rock star at the Rod Laver Arena last night.

With his braided red hair, leather jacket and dark sunglasses, Axl Rose was every inch the rock star at the Rod Laver Arena last night.

A DUBIOUS chapter in Australian rock history came full circle last night when US rock group Guns N' Roses returned to Melbourne after a 14 year gap.

With the crowd warmed up by energetic sets from Sydney hard rockers Rose Tattoo and Sebastian Bach from Skid Row, Guns N'Roses hit the stage in an explosion of flames with what the anthem of the night, Welcome to the Jungle.

All the old classics followed: It's So Easy, Mr Brownstone, and they dropped in a couple of new songs, including Better, which plodded at first but built into a reassuring, classic Guns N' Roses rock anthem.

The band needed eight players to replicate the sound of the four original band members, but they still oozed the sound of Los Angeles' dark seedy underbelly.

They may have lacked the old chemistry, but this was clearly Axl Rose's show.

With his braided red hair and dark sunglasses, the singer made the crowd feel like no time had passed since their last visit, as he "snake-hipped" and jived his way around the stage.

You can always expected the unexpected with Guns N' Roses, the self-appointed "most dangerous band in the world".

Usually bands playing the arena have to finish up before the 11pm curfew or face fines. For these shows, promoter Paul Dainty paid the fines upfront because Rose — a notorious night owl — refuses to start before 11pm.

Rose is the only original member of the band playing this weekend. After the band split in 1996, he became a Phil Spector-esque recluse, retreating to his Malibu mansion, filled with snakes, religious paraphernalia and weaponry, working away on the band's much-anticipated new album Chinese Democracy.

That album — reportedly 13 years and $US14 million ($A16.7 million) in the making — is yet to appear, although a couple of its songs have appeared in shows.

Guns N'Roses' last Melbourne gig was the sweltering 1993 Australia Day Calder Park show before 70,000 fans. That show was marred by controversy after fans were forced to queue for hours for water and toilets, and many were stranded without public transport.

Last night was a far more civilised affair, mainly because a sell-out crowd of about 12,000 only had to venture to the Rod Laver Arena.

Hardcore fans, many who were returning 14 years later, lined up in the dense fog from 7pm. Dave Pearce, 36, said he enjoyed the smaller queue but still fondly recalled the Calder Park experience.

"You don't care about all that when you're 21," said Pearce, who avoided the Calder traffic jams by sleeping in his car. "But it would be different now at my age and in winter."

"It was our Woodstock," added his mate Dave Ferns, 36.

The band play the Rod Laver Arena again tonight. Tickets are still available.

Nice to see another very positive review

a new name for the band The Replicants

  5. Nice, but the writer is only 7 years too late.

Thanks, but we all know it's a different band by now.

No need to point that out in every freakin review.

Actually, there is a need to point it out in every review.

    1. The advertisments on the radio and tv for the shows, shows the old band playing the old songs. They might show a new(er) pic of Axl.

    2. There has been no new GNr music released- which a "new" band would normally do.

    3. Geffen has no pics of the "band"

    4. GNR has no pics of the "band" on the "band website", only pat-on-the-back reviews stating the obvious.

Unfortunately, if the reviewers didnt mention it, the casual fans probably wouldnt even know.

Hell, we cant even get a straight answer as to WHO IS GUNS N ROSES DRUMMER ????

..but we do get photo's of BBF feeding roo's :D

  6. At one stage Rose stalked on stage ahead of the rest of the band and jokingly asked "where did my band go?". Unfortunately they left a long time ago....

    Lol!

Unfortunately this review was all too close to reality.

Seeing Gn'R these days is all about seeing (legend) Axl Rose, and little more..

(will he be here.. will he arrive.. how late will he be.. will he rant.. or storm off stage.. :D )

  7. I've noticed how this isn't really being discussed on HTGTH (along with CD not being played and the "stripped" setlist in-general). If HTGTH was around in 91 do think that even would have been allowed to discuss the St Louis situation?

Jarmo deletes these kind of threads ;)

  8. hahaha,

Gn'R are playing Mexico because they're running out of places to perform ;)

3+ months ago Gn'R weren't selling very many tickets in the US. Why was that?

..and until they drop the album, I don't think the UK will take to seeing Gn'R.

I can't imagine the average brit hanging around to beyond midnight to see the band.

They'ed tell the band to go fuck themselves, and go home :D

  9. no chinese democracy yet?? Damn, thats surprsiing...not the album, the song.

I guess this proves Axl really does read the boards.

The track Chinese Democracy is among the weakest of the leaks, hence they don't play it live anymore.

CD has 25% of the votes on NewGNR.com to be played as the opening song :xmassrudolph:

And you know why that is don't you. Or maybe you don't?

Based on the new leak, the new 'bolted on' intro to Chinese Democracy reminded people of Welcome to the Jungle.

The new band couldn't possibly open with any other new track, as none of the new tracks would work as opening tracks.

First impressions of the new mix (latest leak) of Chinese Democracy, makes it sound like the band had been working on (re engineering) Chinese Democracy to be an opening track. From the 3 new gigs played in Mexico, they appeared to have played it safe (given the fans what they want ;) ) and stuck with Welcome to the Jungle.

  10. no chinese democracy yet?? Damn, thats surprsiing...not the album, the song.

    right............

    It's just a guess :D

..and an opinion, as I don't like the song. The Blues and Better, now they are good.

  12. Well, it could also just be that's the standard format for releases on Geffen/Universal these days, so it's included in every product description. Universal/Geffen has been one of the most active labels in trying to stop piracy and I did read somewhere that they copy-protect every CD they put out these days.

If a CD can be played in a standard CD player, then there's little to stop it being copied.

  13. For the moment there is no release date as there is no album.

There isn't an album as the band don't have anough completed tracks.

The new GnR appear to have only 5 new tracks to play live, which isn't reassuring.

As Axl's already said, soon it's the word.

Brain ain't coming back until CD is out. Hence the reason Frank is there.

  14. I bet you Brain is enjoying his time off. He probably reads the updates on these boards and laughs at the late start times and the setlist the band is still playing from 2002, with the exception of last years leaks of course. When Mr Mantia comes back things will finally start rolling

so we won't be seeing Brain for a while then ;)

  15. Axl don't know his arse from his elbow any more.I honestly don't have any faith that CD will drop ever.Axl has learnt that delaying the album all the time does not really cause him any problems, until somebody puts a rocket up his arse he will keep delaying CD.Its like being a junkie, you have to reach the lowest point before you help yourself. That point will be when the lable drop and sue him, which will happen a lot sonner than some people think.

Almost surprised it hasn't happened yet. It just shows how big a seller the label knows Axl can be. But yeah, eventually it'll come to that if Axl doesn't get it rolling, it has to.

    are Subpop still in bussiness?

I'm sure they would help out, should Gn'R become desparate :D

/Google's 'subpop' - looks like they are still in bussiness - Subpop

  16. a small review from someone who was there:

superloconoriega writes: "I was there (Monterrey, Mexico), and you couldnt even fucking hear axl's voice, let alone the live and let die outro. The concert wasnt as great as that guy tries to make it sound"

He was responding to another post by Adelant, who thought the show was kick ass.

what do the suicide girls actually do?

    strip

  17. Not only was the setlist lame, but Bubblefoot is STILL doing the Don't Cry solo. That is hilarious. These guys just refuse to change up ANYTHING.

Lame setlist? ...he's playing "The Best Of Guns N' Roses" to the people who haven't heard Axl sing sense the 80's and you morons telling us is a lame setlist?

    :rofl-lol:

Oh, so suddenly you want Axl catering to Mexican mulletheads with an AFD setlist! :rofl-lol:

Seriously, believe it or not, the people of Mexico have had that album for up to 20 years, do have internet access and may actually know what the hell is going on. They aren't just being let out of a 1987 cave. Your logic is hilarious!

so what?...name one 80's 90's band that doesn't play their "best off" in their setlist? go ahead  some of the biggest bands out there starting with Metallica do just that, even though they have a bunch of new songs they could do.

you people are fucking idiots who complain about this!...seriously!

Why call it the Chinese Democracy tour, when it clearly ain't.

Once the album is out, then they should do a Chinese Democracy tour.

For the moment, the band should do a "Meet the new Members" tour ;)

During the UYI tour, they played many tracks from the UYI records.

  18. (i posted this in the photo's thread, about 5 hours ago)
