  1. A lot of people only like Gn'R for tracks such as Sweat Child'O Mine, and it will be interesting to see if CD can sell more than the Great Hits album. I didn't buy the Greatest Hits album as there was really no point, although i hear it sold well. I can imagine CD only appealing to diehard Gn'R fans and a percentage of those fans have lost interest as Slash is no longer in the band.

  2. i recieved an email from the people over at Suicide Girls today:

    -Missy

heh, and i feel dirty reading all about it :D

  3. what do the Suicide Girls do at the shows? walk around topless? something to look at during the pauses between sets? have there been any photo's posted?

  4. I see it more over at HTGTH and other forums but, it should be noted that Axl never made any direct promises that the album would come out this year. He simply stated "you will hear music this year." And boy did we ever!!! We had a full Euro Tour, and now a full US Tour, and plenty of leaks and demos that nearly everyone downloaded. Personally, i think this is a banner year for GNR, ive heard more music from GNR this year than i have in the past 15!

I think we should be quite happy. If only we could have warned those poor suckers back in 94 to fast forward to 2006.

And boy did we ever!!! yeah, we got afew new leaks :D and they played a couple of the new leaks live. Arn't we the fans the lucky ones ;P

Axl as lead many to believe that the album will be out this year, and theres not too much of this year left. As many have said, if the album don't arrive soon then Gn'R will look like an ever increasing joke, not that i see Gn'R as Gn'R any more, it's Axl and some other guys (not that i want to start up that old thread again).

While i am no fan of VR, i do like Slash and i am kinda looking forward to hearing the next VR album as i think they could deliver something great :)

The music world needs to hear more from Slash, i'm not so sure the music world is thinking all that highly of Axl these days. I'm sure Axl thinks highly of Axl :D

In a special edition of NME about 'The Year in News', Guns N' Roses' gig at the Download Festival and Axl's fight with a security guard in Sweden are mentioned.

Guns N' Roses make dodgy live comeback June 7

What Happened: Axl Rose rolls into London town 20 years -- and on the night of the gig, over an hour -- late, looking like Mick Hucknall with a goatee. Everyone goes wild for about five minutes, then the crowd actually get to hear songs from the long overdue album 'Chinese Democracy'.

What Happened Next: Things go from bad to worse during a bottle-hailing performance at the Download Festival a few days later. By the time they reach Sweden, Axl is banged up for allegedly biting a security guard on the leg during a drunken brawl.

What Might Happen in 2007: Axl and Slash put aside their differences and embark on a new era of world domination, only this time with bad hair.

I watched Gn'R the Paris show from 1992 (around that time) 2 nights ago and the show is possibly one of my favourite Gn'R shows (and better then the Toyko show) and it home (again) just how much Slash was a really important part of Gn'R. I like Robin but Gn'R without Slash is simply not Gn'R. The old Gn'R rocked so much better than the new Gn'R.

  6. I went into HMV yesterday and bought the new Beatles album. That is all.

did you not look in the gnr section? i bet you did and i bet you didn't see much ;)

  7. I don't wanna sound like a queer or nuthin', but I think Depeche Mode is a sweet band :D

Really, especially the album Violator kicks ass!

I really like the track Precious.

  8. Popped into our local HMV store yesterday, sure it was a Tuesday, sure i popped over to the Gn'R section, sure it was my fisrt visit to a record store in over 2 months and sure enough there was no CD and i walked out the store with a DVD and a The Best of Depechemode CD :D

Over in the Gn'R section it looked pretty poor. There was 1 copy of UYI and 1 copy of UYU 2 and no other Gn'R albums. It's a pretty big record store and the thought hit me that HMV are not expecting Chinese Democracy anytime soon as there simply wasn't shelf space and to make shelf space would have taken a lot of work (as was the design of the shelving).

    I have only two questions:

Which is worse: The fact you thought you'd see Chinese Democray on the shelf, OR

The fact you purchased a "Best of Depechmode" cd (of which thoese three words should never be part of a sentance in that order!) :P

There was not one part of me that expected to see Chinese Democracy. I just happend to be visiting a new part of town that just happend to have a large HMV store.

As for Depechmode, well i am no big fan of theirs, although i like'em enough to pick up a Best of CD. There are some good tracks on there.

So in anwser to your question i was not disapointed about either.

  9. So... I'm one of the 30-something idiots that paid $75 bucks per ducket to go to this Friday's show in Cleveland - hoping to catch a bit of the rock magic from when I was listening to G'n'R in high school.

So - I've read the boards daily for the past 2 months with fingers crossed - hoping that the album would hit the shelves before my 11/24 show-date.

This weekend I gave up on that stupidity... but after attending the UYI tour in the early 90's and not knowing any of the new songs other than Don't Cry, I decided to "prep" for this show by downloading the bootlegs of Better, Madagascar, IRS, CD, The Blues, etc...

There is some interesting stuff musically - not blow-your-mind-awesome, but interesting. I'm hoping that these bootlegs are still rough and the real stuff will be an improvement.

But the lyrics make me want to put a bullet in my head. In every damn song is Axl blaming other people for his screwed up past or his screwed up present. EVERY SONG. My god, man, haven't you paid enough shrinks over the past 15 years that you can finally GET OVER IT??!! Look in the mirror, man. Talk some responsibility. Move on.

I fear that this album is going to dissappoint so completely that this current incarnation of G'n'R will quickly become little more than a rock'n'roll footnote.

And what would THAT do to Axl's already-screwed-up mind?

Does this guy realize that he brings this shit on himself? does he realize that millions of people WANT him to succeed, but we end up tearing him down because of his behaviour? probably not. prolly never will.

He is a rock star, what else would you expect? Axl has some of the best lyrics one will ever read hands down !!!! AXL takes his time, does it his own way but he will deliver you wait and see...

    Thanks,

    Rainman rock3

CYA in motown on Saturday !!!

    AXL takes his time

    ..or is simply s l o w ;)

  10. Popped into our local HMV store yesterday, sure it was a Tuesday, sure i popped over to the Gn'R section, sure it was my fisrt visit to a record store in over 2 months and sure enough there was no CD and i walked out the store with a DVD and a The Best of Depechemode CD :D

  11. ok... that's cool, if you truly feel that way, then what can I say? I just happen to think Motley Crue is a lot better than you say they are...... Even though I think their music is slightly worse than GNR's, they put on the better show overall.

I'm fine with that. I'm the type who cares way more about music than the theatrical side of a live show. Question for you. The rule for the RN'R Hall of Fame is 25 years after your first album. That means Motley was technically eligible for induction this year. They didn't even get nominated. What do you think that says about the quality of their music? GN'R will go in on the first ballot in 2012 (and hopefully there will be a reunion). All I'm saying is that GN'R is one of the few bands of the 1980s that was even worthy of being mentioned in the same breath with the likes of Led Zeppelin or the Rolling Stones. A couple others would be U2 and Metallica.

I don't think that it really matters that Crue where not on the ballot this year. Look at Sabbath. They are in this year, and they should have been in years ago..and look at how great that band was, and the music, and the influence...

I honestly don't know if GNR will be first ballot. The reason why I say this, is that the people who choose the band/performer are a bunch of idiots...

Speaking on awards, Kerrang! magazine has a special magazine out at the moment Top 100 Greatest Rock ablums (of all time) and Appetite for Destruction is at No.1 - Kerrang! really are trying their hardest to get into GnR's good books at the moment (like they have been doing over the past few months) probably trying to secure either an interview with the band or an early copy of CD.

  12. I watched it last night too but i thought Vince's singing was kinda weak

He's no Axl that's for sure. But at the same time, the lead singer of Mötley Crüe opposed to being the centre of attention appears to be equal to the rest of the band. The drummer was doing a great job, the guitarists too were doing their thing, and blended in, just like the lead singer blended in. I guess that's what makes Gn'R different, as while Axl is taking alot of the attention, Slash/Robin also take the attention away from Axl from time to time, there's a swapping action going on which works well. Tommy Lee the drummer, i thought he was impressive.

  13. I could see the crowd being really into Crue. They had a lot more singles than GNR did, and not very many ballads. So the whole show is energy. And to those who think Crue can only draw with Aerosmith, keep in mind that this tour they're on has been going for the last 2 years. So every place Guns is playing right now, Crue has probably sold it out twice since 2004.

I think you're right, the show was all energy, no pauses or technical hitches, and the audience was giving back as much as the band were giving. I've never seen a stage with so much going on on it. Non stop lights, dry ice, flames, fireworks, girls using angle to create sparks of their crotches, girls hanging from chains/ropes and the motorbikes/choppers :D

  14. Assuming it is Madagascar, we know now it's going to be on the album. :shades:

..or, there's more songs (on CD) containing sound samples like those used on Madagascar.

Assuming it is Madagascar, we know now it's going to be on the album. :shades:

..if it is Madagascar, then the race is on: What part of the sound samples (that appear on Madagascar) are those of MJFox and where were they ripped from? and who are the other voices? i'm sure there's some MyGnR Forumites working on the problem as i type this :D

I can help out witht the easy one:

Martin Luther King is the voice behind "I have a Dream, Free at last, free at last"

Axl has been ripped from Civil War

  15. while i have heard of Mötley Crüe i have never really paid any attention to them, as i thought they were simply all noise, image, drugs and little in the way of good music. Although i did once read (years ago) something about Mötley Crüe being the ones to beat, and Guns N'Roses being the band to do so.

Lastnight (by chance) i woke up switched on the TV and there was this band playing away. The stage looked like a circus tent, there were pyros going off, there was some crazy looking drummer that looked like a member of Kiss, there were motor bikes on the stage, there were hot girls doing hot things (with angle grinders) and as the camera pulled back there was a huge Mötley Crüe sign hanging at the top of the stage. I have to admit, i was somewhat what impressed. Tommy Lee's drumming was really rather good, he just pounds away non stop (and plays the keyboard for some small moments). All MC's songs seem rather similar to each other, although the audience was huge and loving it. It has to be said, Mötley Crüe's stage set up blows Guns N'Roses out of the water.

    Guns N'Roses vs Mötley Crüe

    I prefer Guns N'Roses songs

(although after seeing lastnights Mötley Crüe show, kinda like'em now)

Mötley Crüe's pyros, Bikes, Girls and lights blow Gn'R's stage set up away.

Seeing Mötley Crüe lastnight (on TV) reminded me of the old Gn'R and also reminded me of how much the new Gn'R has moved away from that kinda look.

  16. i'm so lazy to read though 10 pages..

..so has MJFox spoken some words to be used on a Gn'R song or has Gn'R simply sampled some MJFox sounds from existing source material (films for example). Is the song Madagascar (as that contains alsorts of sampled voices).

  17. Reading this thread with all the "fuck off's" has made me laugh. Either way you look at it, you can't have the old Guns N'Roses back, and you'll have to take the new line up for what they are, or go and like other bands. To all the people that dislike Robin, sure he is different (not better, not worse) than Slash, but he is (now that Buckethead has quit Guns) my farourite member of the new line up. I don't really care much for Tommy Stintion or Bumble Foot. Dizzy Reed's doing a good job, but he could be replaced with ease at any time and the same goes for the drummer(s). I'm pretty neutral where Chris Pittman is concerned. Sure he is adding a layer of weird and wonderful sound fx to Guns N'Roses. He could probably add something extra to the old back catalogue of Guns N'Roses tracks, but does Guns N'Roses need the electronic synth sounds?

  18. all the stuff people have said about when cd will be released is getting annoying. i just have three things to say.

    1. about the interview that said you would hear music this year, i think feburary correct me if im wrong,

if he was talking about music, we've already heard some this year.

if he was talkin about cd, he said this year, not 2006, so he has until feburary (if im right about when the interview was)

    2. about which tuesday the album will be released on, they never said the album would be released on a tuesday, thats just what people asumed.

    3. be patient you'll get in the end, no need to constantly complain about it.

so yeah, thats just my opinion on the mindless guessing about release dates and such.

Axl said this year (you'll get the album). what part of that don't you understand?

  19. according to a poster at cd.com

First off, I'm not a huge fan but when googling Guns N' Roses board this came up and these posts look recent so I wanted to tip off some fans for something in the works they will love.

I work at the Virgin Megastore Chicago 'N. Michigan Ave.' and for the past few weeks the manager and some of our higher ups have been in a hush mode about some in-store we have to be ready for on Nov. 28th. Tonight some of us were told that it is confirmed and it will be the 'new' Guns N' Roses for the release of the new album that day. They also said Axl is more than likely not going to be here but 'everyone else', not sure what that means, will be to sign the new album. I know our manager is still pushing to have them do a performance but I think that would come down to Axl being there, no? I figure this will give you guys a heads up of a few days before it becomes major news.

What we were told so far:

-Lining up will only be allowed starting after 6am (this is a Chicago thing)

-First 500 people are the only ones 'guaranteed'

-One copy signed per person but they may purchase as many as they would like

-No other items will be signed

-No cameras or cellphone cameras will be allowed when nearing the band (this is a common rule that we impose for larger acts)

Judging by some of the posts on here you guys may call crap or whatever on my post but please do not get me fired and keep this to yourselves. We still have to deny everything until later next week at this point.

    Thanks

"They also said Axl is more than likely not going to be here but 'everyone else', not sure what that means,"

You must be stupid then :D
