  1. Hope he get Baz + a big band like Jane's Addiction for South America!

I think Soundgarden having reformed would be awesome but maybe they're too big?

Maybe a joint tour with them going on first?

I'd love to see a festival... I'd go down to the U.S. for something like

Guns N' Roses plus one of:

    Soundgarden

    Jane's Addiction

    Alice in Chains

    Opeth

but time will tell. As much as I love GN'R bringing out the Canadian opening acts up here though, I think in the states they should go with something established. I think the best opener in recent years was Weezer... I might be forgetting someone though.

Oh and bring back the Suicide Girls! :)

  2. If we want to make this the usual "songs I'd like to hear live" thread...

    Civil War

    Estranged

    Yesterdays

    Perfect Crime

    Locamotive

In six shows I've heard all but two tracks from CD, pretty much all of AFD, so those would be cool. But whatever - I'm not that picky and the setlists in Toronto/Hamilton were awesome!

(Don't Cry would be on there, but they have played it live - in 07).

  3. They'll play in Porto Rico in April 10th.

They could go up a little bit and played in Mexico.

Who's Luiz? You guys are always talking about him.

    Where did you see this??

    Here, the legend: http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=9190

The only reason I woke up is because of Luiz. rock3

I could see them doing that one of two ways - after South America (and maybe, as rumored, Central America) or before/after the U.S. (which I'm sure will eventually happen).

But they definitely should do it.

  4. I’ve been following this forum for quite some time now, but never felt the urge to respond. I just wanted to read some news about my favorite band I guess.

I can wonder what made me finally decide to sign up and respond but i don’t think that will be that interesting for any of you.

Just my 2 cents. Reading Axl’s post made me angry and sad. I’m for freedom of speech more than anything, but typing about two sentences with adjectives has nothing to do with that imo. It’s just rude, immature and insulting.

Clearly Axl doesn’t agree with Madison’s actions, but if you want to put energy in responding why not just say that? Message will be just as clear and may have a better result; now most people are just responding to the ‘how’ the message was brought than the ‘what’, the content of what Axl really means to say. Just saying it is more easy to get misunderstood, get confusion, anger or whatever when communicating in a way that will easily lead to a defensive or agressive attitude in the other. I just think that is one thing that might have happend, Axl responding quite impulsively I think, I just wish he would have taken some time to think about what he actually wanted to say and get beyond all the anger. What actually happened here, what was going on? Although some would love to see this, because it is ‘so Axl-like...’

The whole thing kinda evolves in a discussion about Madison’s work for the forum and even about her as a person. I don’t know her personally so I don’t have an opinion about that or at least try not to have. I haven’t been following all of her posts so I can’t say I have an explicit opionion about that either. About this topic, if Madison did what she claims to have done imo she didn’t do anything wrong. After the stories of people not allowed to wear any Slash related merchandise she didn’t immediately take that as a true story, but rather check it, and found security claiming it to be true. Nothing wrong with that imo (for me personally, I don’t really care, I’m more interested in the music but if you are interested in these kind of stories i’m glad to see some verification). So why all the emotions? Entire discussions about what Madison did or didn’t do, about rightness of banning certain people... I don’t think is on topic anymore.

The other thing that worries me a little is that apparently there is another discussion. About censorship on the forum, most posts regarding this issue are deleted/closed; hints about the influence of GN’R/Axl on this forum etc. I understand admins should take action when things are getting really ugly but it seems there is a little more to say about this issue...? :shrugs:

PS sry for any spelling mistakes, English is not my first language.

    Great post.

And your comment about censorship is dead on.

I've never seen so many threads deleted and locked in such a short span of space in the eight years I've been here.

I've also never seen Beta logged into the forum 24/7 - like some kind of gatekeeper - as she's been doing for the past few days.

Pretty sad if people are afraid to express their views now.

Who cares about this Madison person anyway? If she didn't want to expose herself to getting bitch-slapped she should have never opened her mouth to begin with ..

Well, my friend, a discussion forum is designed for people to express their views - positive and negative. It's called freedom of speech - and this policy was the reason this forum became the largest GNR forum on the Net. It was run by fans for the fans, with no censorship interference from the band.

If you start censoring people and threads, then everybody becomes sheep and everyone walks on eggshells worried if they'll be banned for expressing an opinion.

If this happens, people lose interest in coming here. If you need proof of this, just look at what happened at htgth when it brought in its censorship policy - you can practically hear crickets chirping and tumbleweeds blowing across that forum.

.. But this is typical women who create drama, always having to get their 2 cents in about what they are doing or what they are "feeling" about the situation....and Axl just summed up what the rest of us are thinking....NO ONE F'ING CARES WHAT YOU THINK!

No offense, but if you have problems listening to people's opinions who don't gel with yours, then you shouldn't be coming to a forum.

Umm, sorry, but if anything, I see less censorship here. I usually just lurk and I don't know you or any mods on here. But ashbalove and a couple others have been allowed to go on and on with some very insulting comments - I think he might have been banned at this point but with good reason.

You were fired from a job that doesn't pay. It may have been the high point of your life - I really don't know - but for most of us, this is just a forum about a band we love. Dragging down every thread with the same tired discussion about what happened - if that sort of thing gets censored, well, I could care less. I have no desire, as a regular forum user, to see you, Madison, or anyone else, ruining threads/dragging them off topic, which has happened several times now.

Right or wrong, you are no longer a mod. I think there's a forum on here called Anything Goes, and Dust N' Bones (for old topics) - which would seem more suited to conspiracy theories about Beta being logged in etc.

  5. if axl cared about what the fans wanted with the record, tonight's 'secret' gig would be broadcast live for us to enjoy on MTV. it's not going to happen. axl doesn't care. right now, alicia keys is working her butt off performing on all-star game show on TV. what about axl? what about guns n' roses? alicia keys isn't singing in secret. her performance isn't to only 100 people. alicia 'man up' for her fans. she gets it done. day in. day out. what does axl do? axl's changed. he's not the same icon he was in the 90's. he's not about the fans anymore. alicia keys is. artists like alicia care about fans. they do things like all-star. axl doesn't do these things anymore. axl doesn't do anything with new gnr records anymore. the illusions was axl at his peak. this record, is axl being mickey rourke

You continually don't get it. Axl/GNR doesn't run MTV or dictate what they play. He doesn't simply waltz into the MTV head office and say "you're playing this!"

Besides which why air a small acoustic club set? This is just a cool little word of mouth thing. Gets people talking. Clips get on YouTube. The band gets some free press coverage. You know they're going to do larger shows later - so what the fuck?

Your crying just makes you look seriously pathetic. The band is playing a ton of shows right now and you need to rag on them for this? And Alicia Keys? I don't fucking know/care about her being at the NBA All-Star game. I doubt anyone here does. That's a completely different audience. I'm pretty damn sure Guns N' Roses wouldn't have been asked - the audience isn't the right demographic. Honestly, I just don't get your reasoning. You're complaining about small things and ignoring all the great shit the band has done lately.

By the way bands playing All-Star games and the Super Bowel have nothing to do with fans and everything to do with boosting TV ratings for the networks and leagues airing those events. Yes, the fans benefit, but if you actually think Janet Jackson, The Who, Alicia Keys, or anyone else is thinking "I love my fans so I'm going to play the All Star Game in XXX Sport this year!" - well then you're seriously deluded.

alicia did all-star tonight for the fans. is axl doing this gig tonight for his fans? no. he's telling security ban the fans. they are not allowed in. those were on axl's orders. MTV would broadcast gnr gigs on tv in a heartbeat. the fans are starving for change. axl isn't giving the fans change. he's banning them from the building

Really, you're in New York and witnessed Axl giving orders?

Wow. That's odd, because I'm pretty sure that actually, you don't have a fucking clue.

Goodnight kid, I'm taking someone's advice on here and ignoring you.

  6. I'm really just happy to see things like this going on.

This is a great band, a great tour, and now they are just doing some great things. These little surprise gigs put together with unprecedented contact from Axl/Guns is fantastic.

Wish the rest of the world could eschew obfuscation long enough to see the kickass music and energy being brought out in these guys.

you're happy to see the band play for a small crowd of elites/celebrities at fashion week?!?!?!?!?!?!

What happend to this band and it's fanbase?

You and Ashalove (in another thread as well) have been signing the same tune ad nauseum. You realize there's an entire tour, FOR THE FANS, going on right now? You know, Asia, Canada, South America, and Europe??? And that some fans DID get into CBGB's? So that's what's happening, to the band and its fanbase.

Do you not see the value in the band getting a bit of free press at this Fashion Week thing?

I love how something simple is used as an excuse to attack the band. Seriously, if this is the best you can do - get a fucking hobby. Get off the internet, out of the basement, and spend some time with friends/family.

Unless, of course, you want to complain that your friends are going somewhere too exclusive, and the entire world+dog can't get in with you.

Christ almighty. And what the fuck is it with people whining about people's age and who saw the band when? It means fuck all. The past is the past. I grew up with them. They fell apart. Here's what we get (chose this line for a reason). The band is active now, getting publicity, playing shows - you want a fucking Christmas present personally signed to you or something?

  7. if axl cared about what the fans wanted with the record, tonight's 'secret' gig would be broadcast live for us to enjoy on MTV. it's not going to happen. axl doesn't care. right now, alicia keys is working her butt off performing on all-star game show on TV. what about axl? what about guns n' roses? alicia keys isn't singing in secret. her performance isn't to only 100 people. alicia 'man up' for her fans. she gets it done. day in. day out. what does axl do? axl's changed. he's not the same icon he was in the 90's. he's not about the fans anymore. alicia keys is. artists like alicia care about fans. they do things like all-star. axl doesn't do these things anymore. axl doesn't do anything with new gnr records anymore. the illusions was axl at his peak. this record, is axl being mickey rourke

  8. It wasn't just lack of promotion, but giving Best Buy exclusive rights at a time when people weren't in the mood to go shopping, not making the talk show rounds, touring right after the CD came out, that all played a part in it, but it still sold 1 million, which "these days" are pretty good numbers. I guess he had to wait until this year to start distributing to other outlets, but so far, amazon is the only one I've seen. The CD should've been released to different stores with different distribution deals.

I don't know if his managers or people who work for the company would've given him any better advice, considering how badly the entire music industry is doing.

I think one mistake was putting the entire thing out for people to listen to on myspace, as often as they wanted, instead of putting a few of the cuts out. But it also gives them a count of how many people are listening and which songs are favorites. It might have played a part in the setlist for all anyone knows.

Even The Spaghetti Incident went platinum.

THat was when people actually bought CDs instead of downloading them for free genius. Different time, different circumstances.

it's the same time. same circumstances. if axl listened to corporate suits. listened to his managers. if axl did what they wanted 'man up,' the album would've been a success. would have debut #1. axl didn't promote the album. let his lead guitar man walk away. axl's failure to promote the record, resulted in the industry turning its back on guns n roses. chinese democracy turned into the biggest flop in the industry. yet, axl acts like everything's cool with the record

If Axl is acting like everything is cool with the record, then maybe it is? After all, you have no idea what Axl's hopes and expectations for the album were. You know what your hopes and expectations were, but that's a different thing isn't it. If Axl cared, don't you think he'd do something about it? I don't think he gives a fuck, and judging by how he was acting during the recent shows, he's more than happy with how things are.

it's not about the gigs. it's about the record. the record flopped. the fact axl doesn't care shows a disconnect between him and the fans. the fans expected the album to debut #1. axl didn't live up to the fans expectations. if i was axl, i wouldn't be happy. i wouldn't be happy knowing i didn't give the fans what they wanted. a new #1 debut guns album. an indie band would be happy about this kind of situation. an indie band out of indiana with their first record would be happy with #3 debut and a few secret gigs. guns n roses is not an indie band from indiana. guns n roses is better than that. at least they are supposed to be. axl is making indie bands look like superstar bands. this is supposed to be gnr. the greatest band. not anything else. axl doesn't get it. axl doesn't man up

It's about the music, if you don't like it, that's fine, not everyone likes everything. But your argument about fans expecting it to get to number 1 is one of the stupidest things I've ever read, Axl didn't owe that to you or anyone. I love Chinese Democracy, for me it cemented GN'R as the 'greatest band', I hope it makes the band a ton of money, I think they deserve it. Axl cares about the music, he cares about his art - if that's not obvious to you now, well... it should be.

So, by your rationale if Axl had released a terrible album (Not CD, think something like Nickleback), but had promoted the fuck out of it and it had got to number one all over the world - you'd be happy?

I can understand a fan been disappointed that it didn't get to number one and shit all over Kanye West, but that's was more than a year ago - it don't really matter, I guess you'll find out for yourself.

I remember in the chats Axl did on the forums, Axl was asked if he had any advise for someone startin' out in the buisness. Axl pretty much told the person: "Don't sell out!"

And Tom Zuttaut said that Axl is one of the few persons he's met in the industry who TRULY does not care about money!

You don't see GNR music in commercials. Hardly any GNR music in movies. When SCOM appeared in The Wrestler, it was reportedly free because of his friend Mickey Rourke.

You don't see Axl using Twitter to plug Marshall amps or guitar straps. You (hopefully) won't see Axl doin' commercials for car-manufactures etc, etc, etc...

What Axl's done before and since the release of CD speaks volumes about his integrity and that he is truly in it for the art, BIG TIME!!

what speaks volumes is axl didn't promote the record. speaks volumes

So you agree...? Cool! Promotion is commercial! And what's happening now is, Axl is out performing his art. And I kinda like what's happening....

axl didn't promote the album. axl let the fans down

One or two angry people on a forum don't make up "the fans."

  9. i don't see change. obama makes change.

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

don't laugh. obama makes change. what change does axl make? look at the facts:

    1. chinese democracy didn't debut #1. failing to live up to the illusions

    2. axl did no promotion months in advance of the record

    3. axl let robin finck leave guns n roses just as the record was finally coming out

    4. axl releases the wrong single as first single. as result, the single flopped badly. it's no 'you could be mine' smash single

    5. after record comes out, axl still does no promotion. result, the record falls backward into an abyss off the billboard charts

    6. gnr doesn't do the mtv vma

    7. gnr doesn't do ama

    8. gnr doesn't rock n roll hall of fame concerts

    9. gnr doesn't do the grammys

    10. axl doesn't greenlight a new interview on tv on mtv with kurt loder

    11. axl gives no reason why he let robin walk away

    12. still no new gnr music video on mtv or fuse or the internet for the fans to enjoy

    13. no gnr live show since 2002 put on official dvd for the fans

this and more is the facts. axl doesn't make change. but axl rapes madison. fights reporters at airports in Los Angeles. LA is the place gnr became the best. gnr didn't become the best in tokyo or korea or even canada. yeah. axl takes lots of pictures. does surprise gigs. but this isn't change. it's not change. i feel like 2010 is no different than 2002. i say that because without any of the things listed above changing, feels like the chinese democracy record still isn't out. i feel like im still waiting for it. that's because axl doesn't change

You realize some of what you posted is borderline insanity?

I'm pretty sure Axl doesn't have control over who plays the grammys, AMA, VMAs etc. Nor can he stop Robin from going back to NIN for their "final" tour. I mean I dunno the story but what - if Robin really wanted to go, you expect Axl to chain him to his mic stand? Besides which, DJ has been rocking.

On top of that, what's up with not the best in Tokyo or Canada? Canadian newspapers were lauding the band, they got great reviews, huge shows in Montreal and Toronto, bringing out Canadian opening acts and guests, everyone I spoke to at those shows had a great time, lots of good will towards the band here... so what's your point? Oh, and they were listed as #2 on Billboard's hot tours thingy and that didn't even count the Toronto gig, or several of the others.

I mean really... short of a hit single this late in the game, CD isn't going roaring up the charts. Do you care? What are sales to you? It moved several million copies worldwide I believe, which in this day and age is nothing to sneeze at, and you're what... waiting for it to go 18X platinum in the US like AFD? Not happening, it's a different world, different market, different lineup, and frankly - I love the CD. I have the songs, I've been lucky enough to see all but two of them played live over the years, I've been to six shows (two this year), and 2010 has been a great way to cap off CD.

So what change really do we need? Let the band tour and do their thing. If you want change, get a job selling depends.

axl owns the gnr name. he's the boss. of course he has control. look what he said to madison. if he wasn't in control, do you think any of the 2 current gnr managers would let him say this kind of thing to a gnr fan? axl has the power. he decides what to do. sebastian bach said 'axl does things his way.' but axl isn't doing it the right way. you know, the corporate suits are right. axl needs to 'man up' about corporate business with the chinese democracy record. doing the 2008/2009 mtv vma would have helped sales a lot. maybe even would have had the record hit #1. but axl didn't pull the trigger. axl didn't call mtv or the grammys or ama or the rock n' roll hall of fame concerts. axl didn't want to do them. that's a lost opportunity for corporate business and the fans. lost opportunities. lost business opportunities. lost fan opportunities. sales is what it is all about. since the illusions hit #1 and made millions. sales is what matters with this record. expectations. fan expectations. based on the illusions. there was a line of people waiting to buy the illusions in 1991. there was no line anywhere for the new record. poor sales. poor fan turn out. no promotion. no promotion from axl. this is supposed to be gnr. the greatest rock band ever. not a band putting out their first record in the biz. gnr became the most dangerous band in Los Angeles. axl rose became rich and famous in LA. he didn't get this way first in canada. come on. you know that. Los Angeles made gnr better than the rolling stones. better than aerosmith. Los Angeles is the place gnr was born. i have the cd too. but i feel i don't have it. because, gnr isn't doing the things it did in the 90's to be the #1 rock band. axl is not doing it. dj ashba is kicking butt on this tour. but doing surprise gigs won't change anything. won't make change. im sad gnr isn't the same dangerous band it was in the 90's. the fans deserve change. the one who has the power to make change is axl. he's not changing

How do you know what he called and didn't call? Owning the name doesn't mean he chooses what awards shows to play. If they ask, if they want the band, if its fits the program... choosing singles also - the label has input.

You say you're sad GN'R isn't the same dangerous band it was in the 90s, but what the hell does that have to do with sales?

Poor fan turnout? I was at a packed Toronto show and I was impressed given they played 4 shows in the province, one 30 minutes away. Tokyo was packed. South America is selling out. Did every little town up here in Canada sell out? No, but GN'R played every gig regardless and gave it their all. I have news for you Metallica didn't sell out every show up here either. Or, if you're talking about people lining up to buy the CD - people don't do that anymore. Have you missed the decline of the music industry in the past 15 years???

So much negativity at such a positive time.

  10. i don't see change. obama makes change.

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  11. i'm tired of surprise gigs. the fans get left out. they are not streamed on the internet. they are not on tv on mtv to enjoy. what do they accomplish? will they get the chinese democracy record to #1 on the billboard charts? will they produce a new gnr music video for us to enjoy this year on mtv and fuse? will they actually produce a single that has success on radio and singles charts? will they get gnr to do events again like mtv vma/ama and new events like the grammys / olympics? what's the purpose and point of surprise gigs? i'm even questioning the purpose of the world tour. i don't see change. obama makes change. i don't see axl making change for the fans starving for guns n roses change with the chinese democracy record

They get buzz going for the band. They get people talking. Good word of mouth and all. Most of the press - besides a couple of lame hipster rags ragging on GN'R for being a rock band rather than the indie crap they prefer - has been excellent. Great reviews in Canada, great reviews from fans, great reviews from New York last night. And little things like Spin (or whomever it was) lauding the band for not just playing two songs or some crap but rather a full set...

this is a band that still needs to win people over in the U.S. Sure lots of them have made up their minds but hey - there's still plenty of casual fans out there.

Also, it's revisiting a legendary venue in the case of CBGB's, which had some history with GN'R.

  12. It is a good thing alot of the members on this board weren't alive during the late 80's/ early 90's because if some touring gets people this excited, we might have had mass fatalities on our hands as people wouldn't have been able to handle that period when they not only toured but did press/promo/released videos and things of that nature. It would have been too much for many to handle I think.

It really has little to do with being "alive" - GN'R at its peak, original-lineup wise, was when I was in high school. And yes, they released videos - probably one or two too many for the Illusion albums when you count Garden of Eden, Yesterdays, and the Freddie Mercury KOHD getting rotated. And yes Slash, Duff and Matt did press (rarely did anyone else... Axl's interviews were always big deals because they happened so rarely, Dizzy did the odd one, Izzy was gone and never seemed to like doing that shit and Gilby was just sort of around).

But then years of silence and rumors and the net spreading more and more outlandish crap - I mean when you look at some of the lies and rumors that have spread online about the band, some of it is really laughable - and that's why we get all excited. Because after the drought, this is like a flood. Solid lineup, awesome sets, killer reviews, surprise gigs... I think what we all want is for the momentum to keep going. In reality, 2002 was a bit of a false start, 2006/07 the band did a lot, now with 2009/2010 it feels like the main event. Rock South America and Europe, figure out a game plan for the U.S., hit Australia/New Zealand again, tour anywhere else I'm currently missing... then, to whatever comes next recording/release-wise.

Again, I'm mostly talking out of my ass. But having lived with this band since the 80s, it's great to see positive shit happening.

  13. It's a great moment to be a GN'R fan.

This has definitely been an awesome year thus far.

Well late 09-present, and with European shows being announced - it's kinda like this is the shit we were expecting when the album hit. And now that it's here it's kinda surreal. Canada got spoiled with 13 shows and South America is finally getting theirs... I know you fuckers have been waiting a long time!

    Late Summer/Fall for the US?

I also seriously think the band should consider a big tour/festival in the U.S.

Smashing Pumpkins are active again. Alice in Chains are active again. Soundgarden is active again. AiC is playing smaller venues right now but imagine GN'R, AiC, Soundgarden on one bill. Or just two of them. Or two of them and a few other bands. I know it's a pipe dream but then fuck... Europe gets all these awesome festival lineups, it's a shame they seem to have died out in the U.S. I used to hit Lollapalooza and EdgeFest a fair bit, saw some great lineups there...

  14. I'm surprised no one's selected this, but:

    February–July 1990

    Axl Rose – lead vocals

Slash – lead guitar, rhythm guitar, acoustic guitar

    Izzy Stradlin – rhythm guitar

Duff McKagan – bass, backing vocals

    Steven Adler – drums

Dizzy Reed – piano, backing vocals

I loved that GN'R branched out musically and brought in keyboards. But I was never a big fan of Matt. For whatever reason, just interviews I saw with him... so this short-lived lineup is kinda cool.

And now, the current lineup. I've seen the band in 02, 06, and 10. They improved each year; each year there were some really special moments, but Toronto this year they seemed like a cohesive unit. 02 it really looked like they were struggling to find an identity; I loved Buckethead's playing but things were kind of a mishmash. 06 I loved but the album wasn't out yet so we had a limited number of new songs, and while I dig some of Finck's work, live he's more suited to NIN (I've seen him live with both bands). 2010 GN'R are... well Axl's shirt says it best - Just another fucker in a band. This lineup seems like a band that kicks serious ass as a unit and is more than the sum of its parts.

  15. There is a rumor that Guns N Roses will be playing in Costa Rica -Central America- on April 10th. A mayor local newspaper will give the news tomorrow.

I'm very, very tempted to go to that if it's true. I've had three friends travel to Costa Rica (separately) and they all said it was amazing... damn my broke ass. This rumor, Sweden with Opeth, and I blew my wad on two shows here and a trip I already have booked that I can't change! ;P

  16. http://www.virtualfestivals.com/latest/news/7252/-/Major-festival-announcents-due-this-Monday

I have no idea how reliable this site is, but they're saying there's a rumor for GN'R playing Download and possibly Soundgarden as well, if GN'R "does not play Reading & Leeds, which we are almost certain they will."

Now, any European shows would be cool - wish I had the money to get over there - but what would be fucking AWESOME would be Soundgarden, reformed, on the same stage.

If that shit hit North America... fuck yes!

Again, this is just some random article I've found so keep your grain of salt handy...

  17. Budweiser? Really? Man, it really does my head in that when North Americans say beer they automatically mean rancid lager. When Stone Cold Steve Austin used to brag about all the beer drinkin' he could do and douse people with his beer truck and all that I could only think 'But you're drinking rancid horse piss. You need to get some real motherfucking ale. You need some goddam bitters and stouts and porters. Hell, get some fucking Guinness and drench those fuckers in something with some taste, density and color, not that fizzy donkey-piss pop in a bottle'.

That said, if someone offered me a Bud backstage i'd probably keep the fucking bottle :D

Bud's that beer you drink when you can't think of what you really want to order. It's easy to remember and it's not horrid - there's worse - but there's far better. It's just usually cheap, and available. If someone hands me a bottle, I drink it, but I never go out of my way to get it.

  18. How was the audience interaction? We've heard about the "Axl rhymes with asshole" and "This is the best show on the tour" lines, but how about the rest of the time, did Axl (or anyone else in the band) say much to the crowd, it would be nice of one of the other guys got to say something for a change I guess...

Somewhat off topic, but Richard and Axl were chatting back and forth in Toronto about Axl's antics the night before... I've never heard the guy speak before! Tommy always seemed to be the vocal one... was cool.

Kaneda - glad you had fun. Sorry yet another positive thread is being taken over by drama.

Madison, Matt13, whoever else - I don't know you. Don't care who is mod on any forum. I come here to read about and chat about the band, not the fact that you were fired from your post. If this thread is any example, I'm not going to miss you as a mod. Keep it to PM's if you have a beef. This is not why I'm on the site.

  19. Old news that was from a year ago.

1 million copies in the U.S.

I believe that's units shipped also, not sure. Worldwide add on a few mil. It went 3x platinum in Canada which is basically 300,000. Given our population is only 30 million or so that's pretty sweet. Different countries use different benchmarks.

  20. already read like three articles like that one where I'm the bad guy =/

I guess it's hell of a lot less of explanations and therefor more comfortable to write about when I am the same as Madison and that I was claiming the exact opposite of what I was actually claiming... three minutes of fame and I'm already trashed to pieces.. wonder how Axl feels

Hey Revolver just wanted to say that it sucks you got caught up in this. I haven't posted about any of this shit because really, there's no need, but you don't deserve it. I hope you look back on the trip as a whole as a great memory!

And from what Montrealer said someone passed along to Axl/GNR/Whomever that you weren't the one stirring things up, which is great.

  21. Before the tour started and things got so fucking electric, I was seriously down. I made a severely melodramatic post and said adios. I'm back today to say yes, GN'R lives for me. Sure there are issues with setlists and other such trivialities, but ultimately, I am excited to be a Guns fan again.

Nice, but who gives a fuck? we're all fans here.

Not everyone in here are fans...believe it or not. Like that guy posting that attack directed towards Axl, thats not a fan.

Yeesh the guy makes a positive statement and gets ragged on.

In any case- seeing two shows and how awesome this band is gelling today got me excited as well. I think this is what a lot of us were waiting for - a killer tour. South America, surprise gigs, and Europe being hinted at... rocking the shows in Asia and the Great White North (well... not so white this year :P stupid global warming)...

lots of positive stuff going around.

Something I've kinda wondered - would the band ever release a B-side of Chinese Democracy - something that just missed the cut - as an online single, or to a soundtrack? Something to capitalize on the buzz? They got glowing reviews up here on the Canadian tour, and the touring is awesome, but since the album has been out a while, something special like that would be awesome (kinda like Pearl Jam used to do the xmas singles, or maybe they still do... and before anyone rips on it, tis just a suggestion ;))

  22. Holy Fuck. Will people stop whining about the setlist already?

Let me put the Bubbles topic to rest for you - he hasn't been at every show like in 06, just at a few. The reason he was on in Moncton, and likely will be in Halifax, is because he's FROM THE EAST COAST! He was born in Nova Scotia!

I personally would loved to have seen him in Toronto or Hamilton. I think he's a riot. That said - for those of you not at the shows, give it a fucking rest. If you were at the show and have an opinion, that's different. But yes. They didn't play TWAT or TIL. They change up the setlist. They did My Michelle and Whote Lotta Rosie instead. I would have loved Whote Lotta Rosie at the shows I went to, but I also loved getting to hear TWAT and Catcher.

The band can't play every song every night. In past tours people bitched about the static setlist, now they change it up and you bitch about what you're missing.

Give it rest. I hope everyone had a great time at the show. I loved Hamilton and even more so, Toronto. Wish I had the money to make it out east.
