  1. What kind of show do the Suicide Girls put on? I'm 18 and I'm going with my dad and 2 brothers. One brother is only 15. It's obviously not appropriate for him, but what should we expect?

And what time does GN'R usually hit the stage?

Do you hate your brother or something? Let him see the show, plus its not anything he probably hasn't seen surfing the web anyway.

The kid is 15? Trust me, he's already seen far worse on the net. Suicide girls are tame compared to the shit he's seen.

  2. Man, did those of you complaining about Suicide Girls sit through Mix Master Mike last time? Cuz I know which I prefer! And it has nothing to do with not having a life. I duno who complained about their shitty music either, it's just a tape, and they did play Zepplin.

GNR... hrm, I've seen this band three times. This show was average. I blame part of that on the polite Toronto crowd. The floor was ok, I would have preferred more action.

Better got a GREAT reception on the floor. People cheered the start of it, so I guess a few know it. It went over very well.

Most people stuck it out till the end, cept for some in the 300s and I guess the old farts with kids.

There were at least one or two people in their 50s in the pit, who got out halfway through... dunno what they were thinking even going there. I didn't see kids with em.

  3. We got there at about 5, and were about 30th in line for the floor. Waited til 7.

Gates open and I rushed on to floor and found a spot along the barrier on the left side. Good right? Well it was diectly infront of the stack. That got annoying later on.

    1st Act - Die Mannequin:

They won me over. I was definately expect some emo/screamo band, but they played pretty hard stuff. There singer sounded good and was very energetic rushing into the crowd twice whilst soloing.

    2nd Act- Suicide Girls:

Might as well have gone to a strip club. Bad tunes, unattractive women (though not all), and generally it was a little uncomfortable watching that with 10,000 plus people.

    3rd Act- Sebastian Bach:

What can I say?!! Baz is fuckin awesome. He can belt them out. Seemed really stoked to be back in Toronto, and had his mom and sister with him. during his set the TPB's (Trailer Park Boys) came out, interrupted Baz's set and Bubbles played a song! :rofl-lol: Funny stuff. Ricky and I made eye contact, that was pretty cool.

Set list was good, new stuff sounds great, band the band is awesome, particularly Metal Mike.

    The Main Event: GN'R

The wait did not seem long!!!!! I was very pleased.

Axl: Magnificent. His stage presence is amazing. Tough to say what he sounded like me ears got blown out by the stack. Pretended to do a back flip of the piano during The Blues. He was a great as I thought he would be.

Ron: Fuckin' fantastic. He plays the shit outta the guitar. He came over to my spot many times and during PC, I got to touch his guitar as he ran across the front. Cool stuff.

Richard: Equally as good as Ron. He loves to slam that guitar.

Robin: Was better than I expected. Still I'm on the fence

Frank: Is a loud drummer. The bass was jacked up in the mix. I could sure feel it. Maybe a bit to much.

Tommy: Cool. Didn't see alot of him.

Dizzy: Excellent solo. Other than that...same old Dizzy

Chris: He actually does stuff folks! Especially during LALD. Only complaint is he clutters the stage a bit.

    Highlights:

    - The new songs: Well played and absolutely rockin', especially Chi Dem.

    - Ron's O Canada solo

    - Bubbles introducing Axl and Baz for My Michelle

    - Nightrain, PC

    Lowlights:

    - Patience. Didn't make the grade. Seemed flat.

    - The dick crazed bitch who kept tryin to use her fat ass to knock me off the barrier. Fuckin' bitch. :fuckyou:

    - The cold November Rain on the way home it was brutal. Especially when we got lost at Kipling Station and couldn't find our car.

    Attendance: 80%ish full, maybe more

    Time Left School: 3:00pm

    Time Arrived at show: 4:45pm

    Time first act started: 8:00pm

    Time show ended: 2:00am

    Time arrived home: 4:00am

All in all it was good. The solos do kill the mood a bit, but the band played solid and my section seemed impressed. Crowd was fairly good. Blisteringly loud sound. If your gonna be near the stacks, earplugs are smart. Not rock n' roll..but smart.

I agree about Patience. I really didn't like what they did with it.

Can't say I agree about Suicide Girls though, I quite liked them, maybe it's just being a guy, but I thought the Resivoir Dogs segement, and the hula girl, were very entertaining.

New songs sounded good. I like better live better than the demo (gah what a sentence that was! I guess I should have said MORE than the demo :P).

That rain really did suck, friends and I got soaked :P

  4. As of now...floor is sold out, lower end tickets sold out...only scattered singles at the back at the high end price range.

The only pairs available are in the mid price range at the very back.

This show is within a hair's breath of being sold out!

    Attendence was about 18,500.

Canada fucking owns this tour ;) Calgary and Halifax are both sold out.

  5. I really hate to say this, but my buddy and I went last night, and sat in section 321. We where totally impressed by the band...the piano solo was amazing....but, axl sucked big time...half the time we couldn't hear him at all....

we actually left the concert half way thru because it did not get any better...and, we where not the only ones to leave...I saw about 50 people leave at the same time, and a lot of them that we talked to felt the same as us. They where all saying how much Axl's voice sucked.

Now, I know what you're going to say, but I was very suprised by this. I saw them four years ago in London, and was very keen on last night. This was my buddy's first time seeing them...we where both very disapointed.

So, on my drive in this morning, all the dj's where saying how amazing he sounded.....is it possible that the sound was off in our section?

He sounded really good, I was on the floor, however there were parts where he was lost in the mix and you couldn't hear him. That's a mixing fuckup and I don't get why it happens. If you were in the 300s, I suspect it would have been worse. Arenas are not exactly great places for sound to begin with.

At the end of the show it was still almost full, most people stuck it out. A few left before the encore (it was getting late).

Oh, and yeah it's Canada, no one really cares about pot ;) And people are shocked about weed at a concert? You guys haven't been to many shows then, at least not around these parts!

Suicide Girls were soooooooooooooooooooo much better than Mix Master Mike, and they put on a very decent show actually, especially the Resevoir Dogs bit ("Why do I have to be Mr. Pink/Because you're a fucking hooray for tolerance!").

  6. Is there anyone who can ask a member Here Today Gone To Hell if they can give an up to date setlist?

I would do it but I got banned lol.

Someone decided to post horse porn gay porn and fat girl porn on there in attempt to prove that he has no life. Those of us on the net more than a week are wondering why he didn't post something from goatse :P

And there's no updates to be found.

  7. Remember when it was cool to be in rebellion? Remember rock and roll? I read some of these posts and I percieve such a huge middle of the road-play it safe attitude in so many of the post here. When did fitting in become like the banner of GNR?

Basically... a lot of people got old and lame. I say fuck 'em. I'm so damned tired hearing that "wah the show's late I need to work tomorrow" - seriously, if you can't go in a little hung over or tired, you've got no business going to a rock show. Settle in for an evening with the three tenors and hang up your spurs, pussies.

  8. Is history repeating itself or what? I wouldn't even be surprised if Friday's night show at MSG isn't the last concert these guys play (the same way it was in 2002). There's just no interest for this glorified cover band until they drop and album and with the poor ticket sales, Axl cancelling shows, the backlash that will result, Axl's fragile ego will want to "quit" once again.

You know I keep trying to figure out why this half-assed tour/no promotion/cryptic releases/blame everyone situation continues to unfold. I think it's quite obvious: Axl Rose has pissed off everyone that ever cared about him or was willing to work with him to succeed, and he's surrounded himself with "Yes" men that don't know what the fuck they are doing. I think it's sort of obvious that Axl needs that counter weight to succeed, but he doesn't have it anymore. To say Merk is the biggest pointless piece of shit manager ever is an understatement.

I work in Public Relations, and that GNR press release that went out yesterday was the worst press release I've ever read. They sound like a bunch of babies blaming everyone but themselves. Poor baby Axl can't light off his fireworks so the show is off? Get the fuck out of here.

Since the beginning of this tour, the end was eminent. When you tour with no album, tour to promote an album that doesn't exist and use hired guns to play music others made famous, and top it all off with hitting the stage at midnight, Axl Rose has produced the worst comeback of his career. At least in 2002 we had Buckethead to wow us...this shit now just sucks.

No one cares if you work in public relations. The band was completely justified in putting out a press release. What, because you don't like the reaon they gave, it's the worst press release you've ever read? I seriously question your ability to work in your stated field.

Axl cancelled one show, not SHOWS. You're running around like chicken little saying the sky is falling, sounding like an absolute bitch. MSG is sold out, and then the tour moves into Canada, where most shows are sold out or almost sold out.

This tour has also gotten 100% positive reviews in the mainstream press, *far* better than in 2002.

  9. There are some dense people here in the forum. Im not saying everybody but there are quite a few.

Take a good long, close, hard look at the setlist people. All of the hits are crossed out. This picture was designed to screw with the people of the internet world that have been moaning and groaning about "when is GNR gonna change the setlist" etc. EVERY single one of the hit songs that put GNR on the map are gone. Im not saying that the ones that were not crossed out arent good songs... they are great, but they just arent the hits that MOST people want to hear when they go to a GNR concert.

Think about this... Most everyone that visits this forum wants GNR to make a killer comeback and so do I... But can you imagine what people would say about a concert where all that was played were the songs that were not crossed out in the SETLIST? I dont think a concert without any old songs would go over to well with the audience or the critics.

All I am saying is that someone loaded that setlist onto GNR's website to mess with the "pissers and moaners".

The positive part of the picture of the setlist is that we may have actually gotten a sneak peek of Chi Dem.

Sigh. I can't believe the leaps in logic some people make.

The songs are probably crossed out because this setlist was like that AFTER THE SHOW, and the songs were crossed off after they were played. Now, just find a show where Better was not played that matches this list (or maybe someone just missed crossing it off). Think of it like a checklist :P No one's fucking around, threre's no hidden message. Yeesh. Axl and Del were right.

  10. The point is

The shows rock - hands down

    BUT

Rename your band "it’s ok Axl you are famous enough"

And "Camp Axl" due to the fact that he's like a boy scout leader with all his little (taleneted as can be) childern up there.

Example: would Mcjagger ever go on tour with the name rolling stones without Kieth Richards, I think not...

    or

What happened with the beatles guy. hmmmmmm kinda lame whatin it

Reason - if he aint going to play new rock n roll songs then don't use the greatest rock name ever and don't call it the Chinese Democracy Tour if your only playing 4 songs. I love the music and the band but Man, he needs to get a grip and pull it togther.

Filter, Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails.

Alice in Chains touring with Layne dead, The Doors without Jim Morrison, Blind Melon without Shanon Hoon, Queen without Freddie Mercury.

There are all kinds of similar situations, and worse. Slash *chose* to leave. Izzy sure as hell doesn't seem to have a problem with Axl/Dizzy carrying on, since he played with them all through Europe.

  11. Just yesterday Merck said Brain was in GNR and so was Frank. Add 2 and 2. You get "Brain is home with new baby thus Frank is a touring member."

I wouldn't read any more than that into it.

  12. I doubt they would really do anything as "wacky" as play an audience request. Why would they wanna deviate from the setlist?

In Vegas they took a "request" for RQ. Which kinda surprised me since they had played it at other shows already, so I didn't see the big deal, but yeah, Axl announced it as an audience request. Of course people then were yelling out names of other songs, which were ignored.

Sorry, I meant something like take a request for a song that wasn't played regularly. Who the fuck would request RQ?? Try Estranged, Don't Cry, Dead Horse. The lack of Illusions material is really disturbing. I know I didn't pay $100 to hear AFD 2006.

Agreed! I Can understand why they don't want to play more songs off of CD until it's released but in the meantime I'd love to hear:

    Estranged

    Civil War

    Don't Damn Me

    Bad Apples

    Move To The City

    14 Years

    Yesterdays

    Coma!!!

I think that the only illusion songs that they're playing are Live & Let Die & Knockin' On Heavens Door - both of which they didn't write.

You Could Be Mine and November Rain also. So four Illusions songs, plus Ron's Don't Cry solo :P They really do need one or two more. Why not Yesterdays or Dust N' Bones?

By the way, *Tommy* requested used to love her - it wasn't an audience request, it was the bassist's request :)

  13. It's pretty common for a few thousand tickets to be moved on the day of a show that hasn't sold out.

    The key here is:

2 shows, 20,000+ attending, and three good reviews in the papers now (they haven't got a bad one so far).

  14. I highly doubt it's gone for good, I think it's become a "maybe song" like Rocket Queen, Think About You, and Chinese Democracy (and I suppose Used to Love Her, You're Crazy, and There Was a Time could fit as well, but they're more rare).

It does sadden me a bit though, Madagascar is right up there with Better and The Blues in my opinion

I love Madagascar, but I'm glad the band is changing up the setlist a bit... they played Used to Love Her last night, which fucking rocks, I really wanna see that song live! But, that's another slow song, so consider that took Madagascar's place...

Songs I really wanna see in:

    Used to Love Her

    Madagascar

    Rocket Queen

    Songs I could do without:

    Think About You

    Live and Let Die

By CURTIS ROSS The Tampa Tribune

    Published: Oct 26, 2006

TAMPA - A concert review isn't really the place for a lecture on tardiness but good grief. Guns n' Roses' set didn't start until almost midnight Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Is singer Axl Rose that unfamiliar with the real world that he isn't hip to the whole job-responsibility-up before noon lifestyle? Or does someone need to point out that even the pre-teens who bought "Appetite for Destruction" in 1987 are now in their 30s? Whatever. If you can get past the time element, the show was about as good as one might have hoped and at times considerably better.

The two-hour plus set relied heavily on songs from "Appetite … " and it's likely few in the crowd of 10,522 would have complained about that.

Few seemed bothered by the fact that Rose is the only member of the "Appetite … " lineup currently in the band. That took away some of the potential excitement since the old Guns was a band of loose cannons. Now it's one loose cannon and eight hired guns.

Excellent hired guns, mind you. Most of them got solo spots which gave Rose a chance to catch his breath, change his shirt and do whatever else he needed to away from the spotlight.

Rose remains a natural front man, sprinting around the stage, baying and howling and expressing all the rage and fear that made the band so intriguing when it appeared 20 years ago.

His voice, though, was erratic, mostly strong and true but occasionally pinched and thin. In contrast to his old rabble-rousing image, Rose was unfailingly polite between songs, telling the crowd it was "very, very nice to be here" moments after telling them they were in the jungle, baby.

Such is the dichotomy of Axl Rose: charming and possibly insane.

The band was almost too reverent in its treatment of the older material, replicating each solo and fill with a classicist's touch. Only on "Out ta Get Me" did the players make the song their own, and that one left the "Appetite … " version in the dust.

However, new material, from the oft-delayed "Chinese Democracy" album, sounded vibrant and raised hopes that the disc may one day actually be released.

In the end, despite any longing to see the original lineup back together, Rose established his new Guns as a vital, exciting force and threatened to once again inject some excitement into a stale mainstream rock scene. If only he could do it a couple of hours earlier.

  16. If there is one thing we have learnt this year from GNR touring, it's that Mr. Rose has his clock set about two hours behind everybody else. What caused the riot at the first 2002 show? Axl didn't show up on time. We nearly seen a repeat of this at KROQ, and last night yet again was late.

Doesn't anybody else think that if Axl keeps up this attitude of arriving on stage an hour late it's only a matter of time before a tough crowd decides they're not taking it anymore? If Axl doesn't want to risk a riot, he should try to show up on time.

We learnt that from THIS tour?

No, we learnt that in the 1980s.

  17. well, with paradise playing right now, this concert was a absolute waste. if anything, this could be a sign that the album may in fact come on on the last possible Tuesday.

I'm sorry, did you pay for a ticket? Were you in Florida at the show? Oh, wait, I see - you read the setlist on the Internet - and you feel it was a waste. Except you weren't there, didn't see it, didn't hear it.

And from the setlist you've stumbled upon a release date.

lol. You keep getting better kid.

Do yourself and the board a favor and follow that exit sign someone posted.

I give a hell of a lot of credit to Madison for her patience though.

I'm interested to hear the reviews of this gig, especially from the non-fans.

im just considering how this lack of change in the set will affect CD. every non-hardcore fan that was there tonight will probably just download the album when it comes out, and not spend their money on it like they should. why? its simple, those that were blown away by the new stuff may do it, but most of the people wont know what to think about it. the majority of people wont blow their money on something that they dont know if they like or not.

What you just said makes no sense. None. Zero. Nada.

Think, what did people do before downloading? They judged off the lead single.

Now, people heard a few songs. Hearing a few extra wouldn't make a difference in them downloading it. And downloading has shit all to do with sales. Stop buying into the record label's spin-doctoring. People will buy it if the songs are good. I've downloaded all kinds of shit - and bought anything that was decent. The rest got deleted.

People buy good music. IRS, Better, Chinese Democracy, and The Blues got played tonight. That's 1/3rd of the album or so. If the band puts out a single that takes off - that's all they need.

  18. well, with paradise playing right now, this concert was a absolute waste. if anything, this could be a sign that the album may in fact come on on the last possible Tuesday.

  19. Well, keep in mind that if the band plays a new track, they know that it will be immediately recorded, put onto an MP3 and uploaded onto the internet for the entire world to hear before the show is even over. And I'm not sure that's what they want to happen before the album is released.

    hellooo, welcome to 2007 !!

You picked the wrong broad to make fun of there, McFly.

Want me to punch him in the face, drag him outside and beat the shit out of him, Maddy?

    :rofl-lol:

... Besides Pearl Jam - and they did it ONCE that I'm aware of - bands do NOT play an entire new album on tour, because people don't know the fucking songs. You break in new material over time. GNR needs to appeal to people who want to hear the classics and may not even have heard the leaks. They play from 4 to 6 new songs a night - Chinese Democracy, The Blues, Madagascar, Better, I.R.S., and there's always the chance of TWAT.

That's pretty much average for any band with a new album. You don't get any more than that on ANY major bands new album tour. If you did, you'd have people not knowing what the fuck was going on....

Agreed. It would be pointless to play an entire concert of new songs that nobody has ever heard except some downloaders on the Net.

However, I do think they could have changed the setlist to add a few different songs from the AFD and Illusions era.

actually pink floyd in the classic era would regularly play their latest album before it was released throughout the concert without stopping...I know they introduced dark side, wish you were here, and definitely animals like that. on animals tour they introduced the huge balloon pig to fly up and about the audience

One of a few, and Floyd did concept albums so that actually makes more sense. So we've got two bands out of how many? Point is, it's not common.

Wasn't the balloon thing on the Simpsons?

  20. Did anyone here minus the folks that know better realize that this setlist is entirely new to Florida?

I mean, we know everything that goes on with the band because we spend time on these forums and granted have seen this setlist over and over-

But there are probably 1000's of people there who haven't heard The Blues, Better, Madagascar and the like live and it is a new thing for them-

Just thought I might point this out being that this technically is the beginning of the US tour for those that were not lucky enough to see a warm up show-

    Well said

your missing the point. THEY ARE NOT TOURING FOR APPETITE, THEY ARE TOURING FOR CHINESE DE FUCKING MOCRACY.

it doesnt matter that they dont know the new shit. tough for them. im very sure that they will fall in love with it anyway. and plus, axl wont rob them of the hits and a couple of less popular songs. jesus, this is supposed to be for a new album, not one from 20 fucking years ago.

The only people missing the point here are you and a certain group of fucktards who I'm pretty sure are only here to complain.

Besides Pearl Jam - and they did it ONCE that I'm aware of - bands do NOT play an entire new album on tour, because people don't know the fucking songs. You break in new material over time. GNR needs to appeal to people who want to hear the classics and may not even have heard the leaks. That's pretty much average for any band with a new album. You don't get any more than that on ANY major bands new album tour. If you did, you'd have people not knowing what the fuck was going on.

IMO you and certain others are being pricks because you've seen the setlist online. Guess what people at the show's HAVEN'T. They don't read the setlist from every show, go to these boards, etc. They don't leech bootlegs. The net really has spoiled some people.

"tough for them" is not the way to win over fans. You're coming off as a spoiled brat who thinks the band only plays to others like who to check shit online everyday.

Sorry to the rest for this rant.

Or does anyone else think it's a great idea for GNR to play buckets of new material at one show prior to the album dropping?

5 new tracks would be perfect. And when I hit a show I'd love to see Used to Love Her.

ok, so essentially, your saying that 4-6 new songs is enough to make people go buy the album. sorry to burst your bubble, but people will forget about the new stuff the moment a "classic" song starts. sure, they may thing about it later, but i doubt it will be enough to make them buy the album, especially when its so much easier for them to download it.

4-6? ONE good single sells an album in the pathetic shape the music industry is now. With 4-6 tracks YES, GNR will catch people's interest. You don't overload them. If they didn't play the classics half the crowd would go home pissed. Seriously, go find me another band save Pearl Jam (who are becoming the new Grateful Dead) who do more than that off a new album. You're not bursting my bubble, you just don't seem to have a CLUE about how albums/tours tie in together. You're worried about people downloading so apparently you think it's a great idea to play a bunch of unleaked songs tonight.

The band is doing exactly what they should be doing - mixing new material with the classics. A new song or two between a block of classic stuff. You don't just ram new material down the casual fans throat. My only concern is the lack of Illusions material. I'd much rather have Civil War or Dust N' Bones (ok that's an Izzy song) than Think About You.

Ron is kicking serious ass +

Axl is jumping around stage alot, and changing his wardrobe frequently. +

The crowd is digging the newer material. +

They play from 4 to 6 new songs a night - Chinese Democracy, The Blues, Madagascar, Better, I.R.S., and there's always the chance of TWAT.

That's pretty much average for any band with a new album. You don't get any more than that on ANY major bands new album tour.
