LOL.

Just kidding Axl, they're not calling it The Beatles. It's called "Y Not."

Ringo Starr grabbed a little help from his friends for his new album Y Not, due January 12th, 2010. The Beatles drummer will be joined by his Fab Four bandmate Paul McCartney on a couple of tracks, including first single “Walk With Me,” which finds Macca and Starr sharing vocals. Other guests and songwriters on Y Not, Ringo’s first album since 2008’s Liverpool 8, include Joe Walsh, Joss Stone, Van Dyke Parks, Ben Harper and Richard Marx.

Talking about working with his old Beatles mate, Starr said in a press release, “Paul was doing the Grammys, so he came over to the house and was playing bass on ‘Peace Dream.’ So I played him this other track and Paul said, ‘Give me the headphones. Give me a pair of cans.’ And he went to the mike and he just invented that part where he follows on my vocal. That was all Paul McCartney, and there could be nothing better.”

Both haven't put out anything good in a long, long, long (get it?) time.

Gonna suck.

You clearly haven't heard McCartney's latest two:

Electric Arguments (under the name Fireman) and Memory Almost Full.

Electric Arguments is the sex.

I'll give this a listen, McCartney's come up with some great stuff recently.

You should have high ringo starr expectations,

I'm probably the biggest Ringo Starr fan on here... I'm mean I don't own all of his albums, but I don't think anyone really does.

I'm excited for it. His last album was a bust IMO, but I enjoyed Choose Love. Very fun, neo-funk/ psychadellic thing going on there.

It should be interesting enough, I'll give it a listen.

I remember hearing a story about McCartney smoking out at a festival and someone told him that he couldn't be smoking there, and McCartney's answer was that he was Paul McCartney and he could. Haha, that's badass, but I guess he earned it.

Because he's a singer/song-writer?

or you can look at him as arguably half of the greatest songwriting duo there has ever been...or the bassist/singer for the band that has had, without a doubt, the biggest impact on popular culture that one band can ever have. So, yes he is a singer/songwriter, but being so nonchalant about it is like saying bill gates makes money. Sure it's technically true, but there is alot more to it.

I dunno about you, but when the president gets a nobel prize for doing nothing, I think I can let paul slide for wanting to smoke. He's only done, what, hundreds of tribute, charity, and free concerts, revolutionized the music industry, encouraged thousands of successful bands and been on the most successful albums of all time (beatles, wings, thriller, etc.) helped give a major boost to the unplugged tv show, and the list goes on. And no, he's not just a singer songwrite, stepping stone and ecce cor meum established him as a composer too. the man just has the biggest influence ever over music since he showed up.

I've never denied the impact he has had in the music world.

I'm not as much in love with him as you are. And that's OK. That is what is great about music. Everybody has their own taste.

He was my third favorite Beatle. He has always seemed like an arrogant pompous prick, whereas Lennon and Harrison did not. Even Ringo seemed like a decent guy.

And just because he is a key figure in pop music history doesn't give him the right to special privelages in terms of being able to smoke in no-smoking zones.

The fact that he would smoke in one .. . and then would throw a fit about it . . . . pretty much shows what kind of personality the guy has. He's Paul McCartney - so he doesn't have to follow the rules that mere common people do. Ridiculous.

At the end of the day, he is a human being, just like everybody else is. NO better, no worse. Yes, he has accomplished a lot in the music industry. And he has no doubt raised a lot of money for charities. But don't be an arrogant douche and think that you don't have to follow the rules that the rest of us have to go by.

And yes - I agree with you about Obama and the NB-prize. Ridiculous. Let the man accomplish something before we start giving him awards.

The thing is, it's not even that he's pompous. I can just see him relaxing back stage having a cig well done(all musicians do it, cept Ted, but I bet he enjoys a nice steak and a shag) and some prick going "Sir, you can't smoke here", like those flight attendants who yell at little kids who try to use the bathroom in first class or those neighbor types who talk about you behind your back but are all smiles to your face.

Yeah, we all have to follow the rules. Playing rock n' roll means you have a blatant disregard for rules. I can't say after playing to a crowd for 2 hours that I'd appreciate some prick telling me to put out my cig. either.

If you think McCartney sounds pompous but Lennon doesn't then you obviously haven't watched many interviews with the two guys.

Lennon was many things but he definitely wasn't a humble guy.

Probably true.

BUT the big difference is this. (If Lennon were still alive)

Pretend you were in an airport waiting for your flight.

You could run into Lennon at the airport bar and have a beer with him.

You couldn't do that with McCartney, as he'd be in the VIP room so he wouldn't have to associate with the common people.

I love you Apollo but that's not true at all.

Osama Bin Laden is a human being. Is he 'just like everybody else, no better no worse'??

Reality check - there are human beings that are BETTER than other human beings, there are human beings that are WORSE than other human beings.

This socialist PC ideal of everybody on the same level is so damn untrue and naive. Just a cliche.

I don't know how good a human being McCartney is, but he's damn sure a BETTER human being than some of the scum that infest my town, and probably yours.
