CoolRanchDressing
Seems to me that Ashba kinda represents everything Axl didn't want back when he was forming his dream band to reinvent GNR and create Chinese Democracy. Have you listened to the solo album Ashba put out around that same time? It's laughably cornball... "Addiction to the Friction"?! Lol. Back in the late 90s Axl seemed to want to run as far as possible from make-up wearing bonner rock. If he dreamed of forming a progressive future numetal band, I just can't imagine him gunning for the replacement guitarist in the Bullet Boys. What changed? Damn_Smooth
One look into the #vacant, #dull gaze of those #droopy, #mascara-lined eyes and Axl realized that #Hogan ear curls were what GN'R was lacking all along.
Gordon Comstock
What changed?Robin left, so Axl decided to go the nostalgia route instead of "truly" replacing him ("truly replacing" as in being brought in to write original GnR music, not just tour the old songs). Axl hinted at this himself (see ashba app thread).
DR DOOM
I just cant believe the shameless Slash impersonating...which by itself is pretty embarrassing and lame but when doing it IN GUNS N ROSES it just makes it even worse. The guy just reeks of bullshit, getting Ashba in the band killed my enthusiasm for GNR dead. Snowmass
The Axl of late '80's woulda kicked his ass.

Somebody who could hopefully pull in the younger audience.
Broskirose
Axl just doesn't give a shit. And the fact that he's willing to settle for fucking Dj Ashba is the biggest piece of evidence to support this. Nevermind the constant touring, the setlists or his voice.
wasted
Axl just moved on for CD by 2008. Ashba is in training for the next album. Sixx Am meets GNR is coming.
CoolRanchDressing
Personally, I like Ashba a million times more than anything on CD. I dislike every creative impulse Axl seemed to have in that period. I would have rather had an Ashba Axl album, even if it wasn't musically 'challenging.' At least it would have rocked. wasted
Axl seems very honest, he liked Nirvana, Faith no More, NIN, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden so he took on those influences. The next one will be Sixx Am and Lana Del Rey??
