Apollo
Every time someone fuckin' cuts a loud fart in America or trips over a crack in the pavement it's like 'USA at it's finest, only in American maaaaaan'. While the world sits about mimicking their culture....badly.yeah it is kind of annoying when everytime something horrible happens in the US, it seems we are always singled out as some horrible place. i think a lot of it is the media both in our country and abroad that over dramatize everything. listening to some people outside of the US they make it sound like every day americans worry about getting shot have to wear bullet proof armor and grab an assault weapon and have a shootout just to get to the corner market store.i mean in france a couple of months ago you had a guy kill an old man with an iron bar, eat his tongue and his heart and burn his body, but not one mention of that on this site. instead we have people who have no clue about the US but think they do based on some biased news reports or what they hear. this is not directed at the OP who i like a lot as a poster it is just the general mood and attitude i see a lot on these forums and other forums. I think it's a problem with the whole society not just America. I hope they find all the people involved and give them maximum sentences and not the minimum bollocks.Exactly.Only the most ignorant people out there would blanket 300-plus million people by the actions of a few crazies.I think it's a problem with the whole society not just America. I hope they find all the people involved and give them maximum sentences and not the minimum bollocks.Exactly.Only the most ignorant people out there would blanket 300-plus million people by the actions of a few crazies.especially a country of 300+ million people with all kinds of cultures, view points, and beliefs. you are going to get clashes of these from time to time, not to mention having nearly 400 million people you are going to have a few more nuts than a country that has 8 or 9 million people. It probably doesn't help however when people are overly patriotic, it's the mind-set that the US is the best and is all what matters, I think it's a backlash to that.Ya, that's probably got something to do with it. BUT wouldn't you agree there is a double standard with that as well? The reaction people give when somebody says the US is the best country compared to when somebody says Switzerland or Norway or Australia is the best. One is an arrogant American while the other is just somebody who loves where they came from.

Yes, but the difference is that countries like Norway rank very highly in almost all forms of testing whereas America has poor education, healthcare, literacy...Really? Show me ONE country that has a population close to 300 million that ranks higher than us in any of those categories. PappyTron
Population criteria is a smokescreen, KK. When people say things like "America is the greatest country on Earth and is a far better place than Norway or Switzerland" then the onus is on them to explain why. Norway has a better standard of living, a better standard of education, better healthcare, a higher life expectancy; the list literally goes on and on.
Rustycage
Because when the population increases, resulting in more demand for those services, demands are harder to meet. Duh

Ace Nova
Population criteria is a smokescreen, KK. Norway has a better standard of living, a better standard of education, better healthcare, a higher life expectancy; the list literally goes on and on.But population really is not a smokescreen. For a country with a population of 300 million+ the U.S. has done a fine job managing everything from healthcare, education to our GDP. No other country of this size comes even close....that's a fact. But on the other hand, I certainly would not say the U.S. is a better place than anywhere....I'm not tunnel visioned. I've been blessed to experience a variety of countries and cultures first hand...I think the world is a beautiful place and there are dozens...even hundreds of countries that are "great". Just because a country may not be as affluent as the U.S. does not mean that country does not have some incredible and unique attributes. But like Apollo said, whenever someone defends the U.S. you always hear "Yeahh....MMuricaaaa"....somehwere....and that's just a form of hate in itself. I certainly wouldn't ridicule Lithium if he was proud of Norway...as a matter of fact, I've probably complimented him about how I thought Norway was beautiful (from what I've seen on TV). Just like I wouldn't laugh at Dazey or Sugaraylen if they were to speak highly of the U.K.....etc, etc. etc.....I'm just tired of the ridicule I receive, Apollo receives, Shades, etc...among others...every time we stand up for our country,
Rustycage
Don't get me wrong. I'm not on either side of that discussion. It just looks like you were trying to deny that higher populations would affect the stats. As you were. No other country is so insecure. If I've ever said anything like that it would be the same way I would root for my favorite football team....not because I thought we were better than anyone else....huge difference.....and I certainly don't remember me saying that around here....nor do I really recall any of the regulars running around shouting, "U.S.A!!!...U.S.A.!!!.....we're #1..."...lol....maybe during the Olympics or something....hahaha.... Ace Nova
What a fuckin cesspool the USA has become.Yup, and guess where are the roots of all these lowlifes who commit such heinous crimes in America? Where were they born? Or where were their parents or grandparents born?Hint: It ain't Native Americans that are behind the violence. Here's another perfect example, a foreigner drag racing in Miami while driving drunk in a heavily populated area:Darn Canadians..... Truth. You can cherry pick awful stories from any country.. shitty people exist everywhere. We just hear the American one's more often thanks to the vast cultural reach. This type of prejudice is no different than racist hate... and then you get ridiculous nonsense like this. Really? Show me ONE country that has a population close to 300 million that ranks higher than us in any of those categories. There are only three countries in the world with a population over 300 million and one of them(China) outranks the USA in education with a population more than four times the size.
