I use Handbrake--it's quite a good dvd ripper. After the movie is fully recorded onto my hard drive, I send the movie to iDVD and burn it.

I'm not sure if Handbrake works for windows computers, however. I'll check around and see what I can find for you.

DVD Shrink.

There is no better way.

My brother has made over 200 dvds with it.

Copying and burning dvds is not illegal. Copying, burning, and then redistributing dvds is. As long as his brother is keeping the dvds he's made for his own personal use, he has done nothing wrong.

A pirate copy of a film isn't likely to have studio copyright protection on it

Yeah username has the best way of doing it.

It's the best because that's the way I do it. Although sometimes it can take nearly 3 hours to go through DVD shrink and burning.

Is this normal?
