Calm Like A Bomb
In my opinion i don't think anybody comes close to the guy. He changed the way you play an electric guitar and paved the way for many others. A true legend.Nobody has done a better outro than Eddie did on Hot For Teacher IMO. bax
He did popularize some new techniques, but in my opinion he was merely one of the fastest guitarists of all time, which does not mean the same thing as the greatest.

Calm Like A Bomb
He doesnt do anything except piss me offCare to say why? He's overated, ignorant and looks like someone's grannyYeah he looks bad now but after the stuff he has taken i'm surprised he is still breathing. He definately isn't overrated, Slash is a lot more overrated than Eddie. Ignorance is a great quality in a guitarist IMO.

You have to keep in mind that theres no one like him before.

bluesy
He inspired a whole generation of wankers, who got killed off by people who didn't have a hair of their playing talent. This is true.
adnan
No. I strongly disagree. He was talented but I don't like the trend he brought about and I don't even like a lot of his own solos. I actually like all the other members of Van Halen better.
sabre
I have to agree, Eddie's my favourite guitarist of all time.He brought the amazing technical ability and guitar pyrotechnics into listenable 4 minute pop songs, and no-one has been able to do that since. quadlaser
eddie's fucking incredible, just look at all the people he's inspired. however, it's important to note that he never played anything alan holdsworth (his main influence) hadn't been playing for years. Desperado
I don't like his music that much but I fucking love him because whitout him we wouldn't have any good guitarists today and I think that it was Slash who said that every guitarist that came after him fall under the EVH style

Dead Flower
To be honest, I'm not a huge fan. No doubting his talent or how influential he was (though I think it gets exaggerated a bit) but his playing just doesn't do it for me.
