As far as the original question goes, Axl did an interview in early 2001 where he stated that Dylan should listen to the record if he wanted to understand what happened, so obviously a lot of it is about SS. You write it down when you feel it but 10 years later or whatever the feeling's are dead but you've still got the song/poem/story or whatever.
