Is it possible a lot of people are using the barely audible cell phone clip like a Rorschach test and putting their own wants into it now that the actual track is out?
There are a couple of things somewhat discernable in the clip such as some lead guitar parts, and the bridge vocals now that we have the original and can laser-focus on Axl's vocal part, however the comments going "man the early version sounds way better" do make me wonder, because its still just a barely audible clip to my ears lol
Alot of people are hating on whatever slash is doing on CD era tracks. They are too far up robin and buckets ass to give anything else a chance.
These guys have been out of the band 20+ odd years now move on.

My bet is on Monster being a separate song but bonus song. One more month to go and all will be revealed
I agree as separate song. It was just registered together for the 7 inch

Also, there's that Axl quote where he mentions that he was told he wasn't allowed to change anything in regards to lyrics and melodies. Does that mean Slash had written the lyrics and presented them to Axl as they currently appear on the finished album? That seems unlikely. Surely the tracks weren't sung by Eric Dover and then presented to Axl for possible contention for the next GNR album.
Any ideas on these two questions?
My vote on the possible songs would be for "Beggars and Hangers On" , "Back and Forth Again", and "Lower". All 3 are really excellent as is, and I would have killed to hear a '95 version of Guns rip through those tracks.
Beggars and hangers was defiantely one. It was soundchecked by GNR in 93

Since this originally was only supposed to be two shows, Slash would've been long gone of he was miserable. He left in the mid 90's, and he wouldn't have stuck around this time, either. He has it pretty good. He has free reign to do his solo stuff, movie company, etc all while performing on the biggest stages in the world. Even after the divorce, he'd have enough money to not live a miserable life doing something that he didn't want to do.
Idk $ would be a big reason he kept going with GNR. He and SMKC were on around 484k AUD a show split between them judging their 2015 soundwave pay.
With GNR Slash by himself will be getting far more per show. A estimated 4 million per show revenue split between the band/staff.

I think Melissa really is sick too. The other choices, especially the one where Melissa got morning sickness after being impregnated by one of the Bandmates were just absurd, pun intended. I couldn't see Melissa having sex with any Guns N'Roses Members. They are all old enough to be her Father, especially Axl who is about 30 years older than her.
She was in a relationship with Brain wasnt she? And he travelled with them.

I know of maybe 2 of these bands……
the bigger bands get paid up front with secure deals. Sucks that the little guys are the ones getting screwed over
AKA, every attempt DB Ashba made while trying to play a Guns tune.
Thats totally not true. Big festival acts are paid after the shows too. Headliners soundgarden 2.1 mill owed, 1.6 for smashing pumpkins, 1.6 for slipknot only 484k for SMKC and many others owed.
I went to this festival. Sad the acts didnt get paid as most were great

I don’t think he needs to pack it in lol. I just think he needs to change things up. Song lower instead of the weak falsetto all the time. Go down a half step on some songs. That kind of thing.
Robert Plant was younger than Axl at the last Led Zeppelin concert and they down tuned some songs. It’s totally fine
He needs to relearn how to sing the songs instead of dialing them in with falsetto mickey.
Also would probably be better for his voice doing a 1.5 or 2 hr tight set and less shows per week.

My man, they played The General for the first time ever and you're disappointed that Monsters didn't show?
Monsters is a far better song and could be big if promoted.

Ahh the general is simply terrible vocally and in a live setting.
Bring on Monsters instead please.

Yes, if they're going to play one of these songs live, it should be Monsters. I think that The General would be difficult because, in addition to Axl's vocal issues, it would be just awkward for him to sing these lyrics.
Agree. Monsters is a far superior song and would sound better in a concert atmosphere. The General wouldnt be too crowd friendly

If these are the final versions? Of course I will be
Releasing such poorly produced tracks with Axl on the megaphone for 'The General' would just be mocking the fans. The guitar parts on the cell phone recording are so much better. The full orchestra intro from 2006 as well. You barely hearing the pizzicatos in the leaks and the brass instruments disappeared. What a shame for Beltrami's work. So yeah, I will be embarrassed to get this "recording". And I won't be the only one
Your comment is the only thing you should be embarrassed of

If Perhaps and The General/Monsters are the last singles that drop from the CD era before a "new" album. I fully expect this new album to contain some actual new songs, and the rest of the CD era stuff they want us not to think about as CD. Like Berlin, Seven, Zodiac, etc.
It seems like Axl is reluctant to record any new vocals. Not sure if any of those other CD songs have vocals or if theres any left with complete vocals other than Atlas.
I dont have faith a new album will happen unless Axl decides to get in and record something.

My take:
Monsters/General 9
Perhaps 8
Hard skool 7
Absurd 5
General for me is a 5
Monsters 9
Perhaps 8
Hardskool 6
Absurd 5
Yes I hold the General in Absurd territory. I hate the vocals and its so muddy. Monsters on the other hand is totally the opposite and classic gnr with some of Axls best vocals.

Seems to be a much better rip on youtube of the combined songs. Run time 9.02

With monsters its VR or even Bowie for me

Listened to General a dozen times and its just too new metal dated and not appealing to me. I dont dig the mickey ish falsetto vocals at parts either.
Monsters on the other hand is great.

Monsters sounds like a VR song and my fav of the two.
Not a fan of the General. Sounds like it should have stayed in the CD trash bucket.
