Axl/DC was the greatest gig I've ever been too; ironic considering GN'R are my favourite band and I've seen them 15 times!

Seeing as Foo Fighters had to postpone a gig because of a positive Covid case in their camp - what are the chances that GN'R will have to cancel some on this run? Honestly I think the chances are actually very high, would be surprised if these all went ahead with no bumps.

Yay. Another cover in the set list 🙄
Haha to be fair I imagine this was purely just a jam from Slash - can't imagine them playing this in the full show. If I recall correctly I think Machine Gun is a 10-12 min song!
-
Yep definitely the Jimi Hendrix version - from the leaked footage it's clearly a Hendrix cover.

Why would does this mean that they have someone who finances them?
Couldn't it just be that they have connections from having played with a lot of people (either being in bands, or touring with big names, or doing session work for them etc.)?
Would be a little naive to think that a band with no history can recruit current/ex-members of GN'R, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy etc for their first album and tour, along with getting a Slash solo on their first single, don't you think?
Again, I'm not criticising David Lowy at all but it's just the reality.

It's financed by a
millionairebillionaire, who's living out his rockstar dream. We'd all do it😄Fixed it for you
Oh, 1000%. - in a heartbeat I would be doing the same, if not even more decadent.
My only point with it is to say that this isn't quite an underground steadily climbing the ladder - they do have a financier who's wallet is clearly opening doors.

The same Dead Daisies who played Wacken a few years ago? Or just released an album with Glenn Hughes? C'mon man, they are hardly beginners.
Hardly beginners but they have essentially paid there way to where they are. I don’t think Glenn Hughes is there ONLY because of artistic pride.

Disappointed but in no way shocked.
Keep your chin up @Gambit83, you're doing a great job and your content is really appreciated.

Maybe I’m thinking more about here in the US. I don’t recall NuGnR playing anything larger than an arena on their tours here.
In Europe it was festivals. Biggest one coming to mind is Download. Even in 2006 download was a huge deal. Metallica GNR and Tool headlining.
Edit: to give even better context, the year before Velvet Revolver were subheadliners and that was after Contraband had been out for over a year!

I disagree. Until new music is released, it’s hard to take a band seriously no matter how talented the individuals may be. Velvet Revolver released Set Me Free not too long after they were announced as a band. That created excitement and an idea of the direction of the new band.
Not quite sure what you’re disagreeing with tbh. GNR were headlining festivals in Europe before CD had come out, there is just no way an Axl Rose solo is able to do that.

Eh, I don't see why he couldn't have headlined. If he played his cards right he could have eventually pulled an Ozzy and made a name for himself as a totally separate act from GNR.
Eventually, maybe, but certainly not the ‘leg up’ that having the GNR name gave him right off the bat.
-
Well what we can say for certain is that Axl would be worse-off financially.
He mentioned on the chats back in '08 that keeping the name was as much as commercial decision as it was an artistic one. Pretty certain to say that Axl Rose solo band wouldn't have been headlining European festivals back in the Nu-GNR era.

They've used the AFD cross on all sorts of things since 2016.
Fair enough - I only really remember them using the bullet logo and anytime they did use the AFD cross it was just including Axl/Slash/Duff but I probably wasn't paying enough attention!

Damnit!

Again, the Mexico poster is showing the AFD5 cross… am I reading too much into this or…?!

Yep literally the Rock Band 2 multitracks. If you haven’t heard them already, would suggest you do. They make for fantastic listening especially if you are a CD nerd.

Agreed - never understood the ridicule for that comment. It’s pretty clear to understand where he’s coming from.

The funniest part is that RHCP actually just recently fired their management team that they’ve had since 1998 and replaced them with some friend of theirs who has no prior management experience lol.
Doing a bit of research and it is saying that the new manager, Guy Oseary, is the manager of U2 and Madonna so suggests he has a pretty decent pedigree!
-
Yeah I like it but it’s definitely a B-side.
May be an unpopular opinion but I really like the vocals on it! -

Robin was just a touring/studio session player for Trent who wrote pretty much everything. Not sure how much input tommy had on the replacements though. Never liked their band.
What have either done after their CD periods? Not much other than tour.
I do remember at one time Robin was supposed to do a solo record but that idea must of been shelved.
Yeah I remember that interview with Ultimate Guitar back in 2014(?) and I was so stoked to hear he was working on a solo record. Would absolutely love to hear it some day.

It was rehearsed in late 2019, then again before the Mexico show in 2020. I'll be interested to hear how much it differs to the leaked version. I'm not a fan of Slash and Duff's handiwork on Better, so hopefully they can win me round with Hardschool - I love that intro though and it appears to have been chopped.
I didn't know that! I assumed the first "confirmed" rehearsal was the Mexico show?

This is probably the one song I've listened to most in the last 18 months since it leaked by any artist. Love the song, even it is isn't perfect, probably because I'm a huge Axl fan and desperate to hear his music. If it were a SMKC song, I'd definitely like it but probably not to the same level!
Also think I may be in the minority here but I prefer the Josh drums - simpler, cleaner and serves the song better IMO.- 1

Hey DJ welcome back to the board. All jokes aside, I do hope you are doing well in life and are happy these days, but please, less of the humble brags maybe?

Give me silent GN’R over this utter tripe every day of the week. My word.

What OLD SONG or COVER would you like to hear most/least on the upcoming tour?

Funny you say that... after watching TWAT on the selects, I was genuinely thinking that maybe Slash was partially butchering the Robin & Bucket solos? Robin's first solo is so beautiful in its sparsity and simplicity, to the point that an amateur could play it within 1 hour of picking up a guitar yet Slash was fumbling all over it. Same can be said for the first few bars of the Bucket outro.
