Their newest album is by far their best since Stadium Arcadium imo. Songs like Eddie and Carry Me Home are great rock songs, way better than anything Slash has done in a decade...

I agree.  I love seeing fans say GnR are older now so singing about girls and drugs wont cut it.  But RHCP are supposed to sing "give it away now"?  They have put out great music and I loved how they evolved.

i think the general built some hype around it because of the title of the song, same as Atlas or Oklahoma

songs with weaker titles like ‘curly shuffle’ of ‘devious bastard’ have less epic titles so we unconsciously think they’re not great epic 8 minute songs

Didn't Sebastion Bach say he heard it and it was "epic " or something like that?  Way to much time as passed, and it will never satisfy people.

Rio 2001 with The Blues, pure magic.... N. Rain 2.0 easily. Same here, Slash coming back to fold is the worst thing for gnr.... Before that, axl had something to prove and new music would have been a reality. Best we can hope for is more leaks.

How many years was Slash out?  where was all this music you mention? yea, the lead guitarist that is on all the hits and known world wide, is the worst thing.  Thats comical.   88 people cared about NU gnr.  Why couldn't they sell out stadium after stadium?

Well you're up for a treat  :) for the first time I'll be in the back.

The heat, crowdness and the $10 bottle of water last time broke me (along with age lol and fucking covid).

Also if there's one thing that I've learned from this forum, is that the first shows of the tour are weak, so.. :/

not the 1st one if this tour.  But historically , since the re-union, you are correct

Slash literally said he didn’t think most of the solos on Chinese Democracy had any “serious melodic significance,” and then noodles the fuck out of what he chooses to play instead. I love Slash, but that’s a huge slap in the face to fans of that material and its players.

    all 7 of them :-)

    Nope...

Don't be a covid (convid) excuser... made no difference, wouldn't have released anyway... other bands did music vids from homes/studios.. live stream gigs... or still brought out new albums... this band is just a joke.

Nothing new is coming, calm the farm buddy..

any band who wanted to release music did. Covid has zero effect on it.   people need to stop using that for being lazy

But why not fill that waiting with...life? Like, do something constructive, like pet a dog or talk to your relatives. I just don't get why some people constantly post the same thing over and over as if their entire lives revolve around this very thread. But hey, I didn't want this to come off as criticism, as I said I don't care, I just don't get it. Maybe some posters are paid by the forum to post a certain number of posts per day.

i am 100 percent certain everyone is living life.  This a fan board, the band does nothing, and it agitates most.  No different than some Steeler pages i follow

I had Atlas on in the car yesterday. First time I’d listened to it in so long. To think Axl has been sat on a song of that quality for well over 20 years is mental.

Thats what I cant figure out, why?  that has the potential to be a really good one, heck I like this version and its not really finished.  Its disheartening to see all these bands releasing stuff, and they are to lazy to re-work a few old songs at the least. My wife is a HUGE Alice Cooper fan, he just said "two more finished albums"  Its really not that hard if you WANT to do it

GN'R just aren't relevant as a recording band these days. Hope for new music like all of us but they aren't relevant in the mainstream and won't be again.

Small hope of a Johnny Cash late career style renaissance but Hard Skool and Absurd both did as well as you'd expect in terms of where the band is at now. Nothing to be ashamed of really, it's just reality.

absurd would have been hated in 1988, 91 and 92.  HS isn't a bad song, just wasn't marketed properly as always

It already is a brand more than a band. And there is no money to be made. All profits in the music world today come from touring & merch not actual music. Everybody says this. Why are delusional GnR fans convinced that some secret elusive vault of unreleased material from musicians that aren't involved in the band and of the same sessions as the previous unsuccessful album is going to be a gold mine???? PSYCHOSIS

they have money.  Why do all other bands who dont need money like Ozzy, the stones, RHCP, etc, etc, etc keep releasing music?  I dont think any of them are banking on making money on new music.  I guess if you like to write music, you do

If they release The General, I hate thinking of what Slash will play in place of Robin's guitar.

I envision awful processed Frank drums, or Brain's drums far too low in the mix, and super loud Slash noodling throughout where brilliant Robin/Bucket playing once was. I sure hope I'm wrong.

i am in the 99% of gnr fans who want to hear Slash.  He is associated with every hit they have.
