    Same quote.

"I’m particularly proud of Guns N' Roses. Out of everything about that band – the music, the tours – basically, what the whole band was about is something I’m very proud of. Guns N' Roses was a band that made it on our own merits and didn’t cater to the status quo or try to be industry darlings or any of that kind of pandering that a lot of bands do to try to become successful. So, I’m very proud of that, and I’m proud of Velvet Revolver, I’m proud of the solo stuff that I’ve been doing with Myles… all that stuff is something that I feel was an achievement, and worth doing."

He ends saying "All that stuff is something that I feel was an achievement and worth doing"

He talks Guns and says "So, Im very proud of that (Guns)..." then goes on to say he's proud of VR and Solo/Myles. Then closes saying "And all that stuff (Guns, VR, Solo) is something that I feel WAS and achievement..."

I’m proud of the solo stuff that I’ve been doing with Myles

he never said that SMKC "was a band"

When you talk about the past you tend to do it in past tense, that don't mean that Guns have broken up, it just means their past is being referred to folks.

Surely the band that presents itself as GNR has not broken up and likely they will continue presenting themselves as GNR and making zillions of dollars in the process for as long as people are willing to pay to see them

Sorry, but Guns N' Roses are a business and a brand.

    If you mean the band that presents itself as "Guns n' Roses", I agree 100% with you;

To have a successful business, you have to give people what they want

I am not sure that Guns n Roses and Geffen did a marketing research before writing and recording Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusion in order to "give people what they want"

I am not sure you understand the difference between writing, recording, releasing and performing music and selling oranges

Because of Slash and Duff, Guns N' Roses are legitimate again after years of little interest from anyone outside of hardcore fans.

It may be "legitimate" in a making-money sense. I don't think anyone is crazy to deny that Guns n Aliens is the best money-making machine in business these days.

Legitimate as a rock n' roll band?

I say they are a wildly successful nostalgia act playing Appetite for Destruction and November Rain etc for the 1000th time for millions of people who are willing to pay top dollar to watch Slash and Axl together doing that.

GN'R today are a healthy business, no longer faced with the possibility of Las Vegas residencies to keep the name alive.

I suppose the Las Vegas residencies were not meant to "keep the name alive"

I suppose it would be more correct to say that Axl used the name Guns n' Roses to make money

Talk about reading between selected lines...

It's obvious he WAS talking about pre-breakup Guns and their rise to the top. Anyone who thinks Slash is gonna give up Guns (and the pay that comes with it) again is more nuts than Axl.

Just like you, I am 100% sure that Slash was talking about GN'R and not about Axl's Guns n Aliens band that currently presents itself as Guns n Roses

I never stated that Slash is considering to leave Axl's Guns n Aliens band

It just grabbed my attention that despite touring the word with "Guns n' Roses" for the last three years, Slash talks about "Guns n' Roses" as something that doesn't exist anymore

Deep in his mind he probably sees the AFD, UYI, and NITL lineups as three different bands, and was probably just referring to the AFD crew here.

LUDURIGAN POSTS NONSENSE ON MYGNFORUM :rofl-lol:

If you had used the past tense and written "LUDURIGAN POSTED NONSENSE ON MYGNRFORUM"...

Would it indicate that LUDURIGAN doesn't exist anymore?

Or that LUDURIGAN doesn't post nonsense on mygnrforum anymore?

@ludurigan Izzy’s not coming back, brother. You’ve been bitter for 30 years despotricating everything he’s not involved, but it’s time to move on. Your attempts at trolling are getting boring. Thankfully Guns N’ Roses will keep going with Axl, Slash, Duff and the “aliens” as you like to call them. They will probably mess up GNR’s legacy and history by releasing a new album that features Richard again :P And I’ll be happily waiting for your reaction!

He-is-not-coming-back. Let Izzy be happy with his avocados.

    Move on

    @GNRfanMILO

Thanks for clarifying that Izzy’s not coming back, brother! Let me ask you something, Izzy told you that? Or you know the future? If you know the future, can you tell me if you knew secretly that the fakeunion would happen before everyone?

Thanks also for telling me that I have been bitter for 30 years! I had no idea! But if you are telling me that I have been bitter, than I surely have! It's pretty fascinating to find that someone I have never seen in my life can get inside my mind and tell me how I feel, brother!

Thanks also for teaching me the new word "despotricating". I have no idea what it means but I love it! I think I am gonna start to despotricate everyday now, it seems so relaxing and adventurous! I have a new year party to go do you think I am gonna make people laugh if i despotricate for them? Or with them? Please let me know!

Thanks also for telling me that stating my opinion is "trolling". It's pretty fun to find people who can't tolerate a different opinion than yours. It's fascinating to interact with people like that, it happens on this forum all more times than I can remember!

Thanks also for telling me that you are "bored". I had no idea that my opinions should "entertain" you but now that you told me what my opinions are for I promise you that I will try my best at it so you may never get bored again!

Thanks also for telling me to "move on", I love when someone that I have never seen in my life comes and tells me what I should to do, what I should say, how I should behave. It's brilliant! It's actually the most "GNR thing" you can do!

Last but not least, please let me know when you want to discuss GNR and not what I do. Last time i checked this was a GNR board!

    Thanks, brother!

Because now the band is not about what it was. Slash is proud of the band they started out as until UYI days. Rightly so. They were a great band.

It ended all up in smoke. Now three of them are on a nostalgia ride with hired hands. :shrugs:

    e-fucking-xactly my thoughts

I don't think Axl would embarrass himself by continuing. Like others say, he would most likely retire. If he wouldn't go solo in 1993, he sure as hell won't now.

you are clearly underestimating axl ability to embarrass himself

if axl called that band those bands and that album GNR, then its fair to say that he is capable of anything

    4 hours ago, Bitchisback said:

But honestly this time around if Slash were to quit I would hope Axl goes solo.

been there & done that under an alias

  9. "brand"

    :rofl-lol:

GNR has survived the ultimate shit fest which is a very sweet and kind way to describe the abomination that was axl solo career as "GNR"

even if bon jovi went on a killing spree shooting all members of GNR one by one...

and then later shooting all members of axl rose solo band who were told they were in GNR...

GNR would still survive and thrive because you cant really kill music, can you?

specially when it is fucking great

Are you for real dawg? I remember him sounding consistently awesome. Fairly weak on a few songs like Dirty Deeds but cut the guy some slack.

P.S. has the situation in Brazil calmed down?

some people mentioned rock or bust and thunderstruck as mickey free -- and i agree

all the others were mickey infested

there is zero mickey on "rock the rock" so that is very good

    ===

brazil is a mess right now -- too complicated to explain

for you to have an idea, this evangelic preacher (video below) is the person who is gonna take care of Brazilian entire school/education system

If things keep on going like that, soon Brazil will turn into an armed teocracy

So many others... Hell's bells, thunderstruck, rock or bust, rock n roll train... Basically a lot of the set was Mickey free. Not saying Mickey didn't show up, touch too much for example but it was on the complete flip side to the GNR set 80% rasp, 20% Mickey; stop complaining.

agree with thunderstruck and rock or bust

mickey showed up on all the others

touch too much, probably a top 3 acdc song, was pretty much unlistenable

    what? WHAT?

sound of this recording is absolutely crystal clear brilliant, bluesy like no other GNR bootleg (probably a bit slowed down) and guns n roses (including obviously axl who sings GREAT and the replacement drummer fred coury) are nothing short of FANTASTIC on this show!

maybe you are listening to shitty mp3s?

if you are, make sure to look for (and buy) "happy new year" and "california x-mas"

    you won't regret

if that doesn't work, maybe these can help you

  13. this is the best KNOWN music axl rose has done in a recording studio since the "sympathy for the devil" sessions

he may have done better stuff than this but he surely did NOT release it

not saying that this generic-three-chord-song made for a cartoon (and very likely performed by boring session musicians) is anywhere close to my cup of tea

nor that i will listen to this a lot

but this recording has two great qualities

the first important quality is that axl is singing with his "regular" voice instead of the abomination known as "mickey" that he chose to use on his solo album

the second and most important quality of this recording is that this is very likely (or at least sounds like) a one-off let-me-have-some-fun-here-instead-of-taking-myself-so-seriously-like-I-do-when-I-spend-180-years-to-make-an-album

it actually sounds like axl is enjoying himself singing the song, which is half the job if you are a rock singer

and which is something that he failed miserably in his look-how-much-tortured-and-miserable-i-am solo album

enjoying oneself while singing is sort of the basic reason why anyone becomes a rock singer in the first place, isn't it?

    congrats to axl

hopefully he will be smart enough to notice that, even at FIFTY FUCKING SIX YEARS OLD, he still has time and gas left to use the very same "rock the rock" approach to have fun and enjoy himself writing, recording and releasing rock music with izzy, slash, steven and duff

    with his regular voice

    come on axl

the ball is on your court for nearly thirty years now

    make the call

get in a fucking studio with guns n roses

    write some songs

try and have some fun doing it

write lyrics about anything you want

    trump, china, bugs bunny...

    whatever rocks your world

    just let it out

you are the best at it

and the other four guys are just as good as you
