Its a shame. God she was beautiful, and talented. RIP.

I hate to say it, but I'm afraid one of these days we'll find out Eddie has died. Hope I'm wrong! And I've been wrong in the past about Ed's health. He got tounge cancer in 2000 or 2001. But recovered, and is still alive 19 years later. So who knows. But I fear the worst. Cancer is a bitch. I'm sure all of us know friends and family members who have died from it.

I saw the Stones with Living Colour opening Sept. 1989 in St. Louis, MO. Busch Stadium. Great show by the way. All summer I was hoping that GnR would open up at some point. Didn't happen here, but it happened a few weeks later in LA.

Bay City Rollers, The Monkeeys. Just kidding, even though I like both. Anyway, its fun to wonder who should be in. But its not really up to us fans. Besides, they will always put in some unknown singer from long ago. Someone we've never heard of. And bands that should be in will have to wait til next year.

I remember when that happened. They really screwed him over. I think he got a million bucks from NBC, but after taxes and legal fees, he didn't exactly strike it rich. Looking forward to the movie.

Watched "Red River", with John Wayne and Montgomery Clift. 1948. Good Flick.

Haven't seen the movie yet. Seen enough to know I love the Mama and the Papas song "12:30 Young girls are coming to the canyon".

Slash back to Riverport Ampitheater tonight, St. Louis. First time back to that venue since the 91 riot. He's played elsewhere in St. Louis many times, but I think this is the 1st time at Riverport. Now it's called Hollywood Casino Ampitheater.

It certainly was not happenstance, Axl was a prima donna. That's not unusual, most great frontmen are. But Lars summed it up perfectly, if things weren't perfect Axl couldn't or didn't want to deal with it.
Agreed! You got 53,000 paying customers wanting to see a show with 2 huge bands and an opening act(Faith No More?). Metallica had to leave mid-set. 2-3 hours later Gn'R comes on and leaves after 45 minutes or so. OK, the monitors weren't working right, but you gotta play thru it. Give the fans their moneys worth. Don't leave!

He played a great 'Bad Guy'. Nighthawks and The Hitcher are my favorites. RIP

And I was there, it was something that I'll certainly never forget. You could just sense something was brewing that night. The heat, the free flowing booze, it was inevitable in a way. I was really far back from the stage and was confused about what was happening. But when Axl got back on stage and made his infamous "lame ass" comment, it became clear. Everything was cool initially but once people realized that the band wasn't coming back it got ugly quickly. Mob mentality took over and the feeding frenzy was on. Luckily, I was far enough away that I could watch the insanity unfold. I did not take part in any of the destruction that occurred. A guy came on the PA and said the band would come back but it was way too late for that, it was already a free for all. It was funny actually, he was on mic saying "hey man, stop throwing that shit" before he ran for his life. The helicopter scene in the "Don't Cry" vid was accurate, they were everywhere. It was like World War 3 had broken out in the suburbs of St. Louis. It really was a miracle that no one was killed. My friend and I made it out in one piece and escaped back to the safety and refuge of the hotel bar.
I was there as well. One thing that is never mentioned is when Axl threw down the mic., there was a LOUD feedback/buzz sound that went on for about 3 to 5 seconds. Very loud. That was an indication to the majority of the crowd that something was wrong. Not long after that, the house lights came on, and the piped in music started playing, a clear sign that the show was over. The crowd got pissed right away.
Oh well, Axl came back and played in St.Louis in 2017, now the riot is just a footnote in GnR history.

Reminds me of Artie Lange. Hoping for the best for Stevie

Yeah I'm sure it was about money. Check out Jake E. Lee and his experience with Ozzy and Sharon.

I thought the interview was pretty good. I was afraid it might turn into a Trump-bashing type of thing. Fortunately, no politics.

RIP Mr. Conway. He was a funny guy! Check out a couple of movies he did with Don Knotts in the 1980's. The Prize Fighter and Private Eyes. (Going by memory here on the names of the movies).

Babs Streisand quickly apologized, saying her words were misconstrued. Sorry Babs, you've shown your true self. You thought it was OK for M.Jackson to have sex with young boys. HEE-HEE---Shammonn!!

Haven't seen it yet. But they sure got the skinny/cocaine/Rockstar look right for the band.

Yep, I was at the Arrowhead show also. Hetfield was still not playing the guitar due to his pyro accident. Do you remember Axl having a camera on his cap saying they were filming a vid?
I sure do. They opened with "Jungle". Which was a surprise for me at least. Figured they'd play that later in the set. And the inflatable stuff was not on the sides of the stage, it was in the upper sections of the stadium behind the stage.

I've only been to three shows. One opening for Aerosmith, the riot show, and with Metallica in 92. They were punctual each time, unbelievably.
I've seen them 3 times, 9-3-1988 St. Louis Arena opening for Aerosmith. 1991 Riverport Riot. 1992 Gnr/Metallica/Body Count in Kansas City, MO Arrowhead.
-
They did practically nothing in 89 and 90. 4 shows with the Stones in LA(didn't even have to travel) 1989, 2 songs at Farm Aid 1990. It was starting to look like they'd never get a new album out, or if they kept prolonging it GnR would go down in popularity. It was a smart business move to get out on tour, whether Axl liked it or not.

You can see on youtube one of their shows opening for Maiden in Canada. They didn't have a lot of room to move around on stage. They had a lot more when they opened for Aerosmith later that year.

Axl was trying to get the naming rights to GnR. He felt that things might be falling apart. They got rid of Steven Adler, and Izzy got arrested for peeing in the kitchen of the plane , a felony. By 91, Axl wanted the naming rights so if it all fell apart, GnR would continue with or without Slash,Duff etc.. So he used the crowd as leverage. The rest of the band was there, but he showed up whenever he wanted. And they had 2 riots and a few close calls. Finally Slash and Duff signed it over and Axl was cool again. But Slash in this interview was just trying to justify it, He didn't want to make things worse. Axl's excuses about having to get his ankles taped and vocal warmups was just an excuse. He knew what time the show was supposed to start. Besides, the Lakers might have been playing!
Dec. 17, 1989: Axl and Izzy play with the Stones, Trump is watching the show "like a Roman emperor"

There was a lot of that talk amongst the press, disc jockeys kind of making fun of them for being so OLD!! Little did they know the Stones would still be here 30 years later.
