  1. Have they taken it off? It was a great video of him a la natural, I have it in my secret vault together with stills as my screen saver. It's probably the only time he's been seen with fans without the bling - pity they didn't film more.

Could you share please? Just curious as to the 'great video of him a la natural' tbh.

    Cheers

  2. El Camino was a bit too far removed & produced for me, very poppy sort of album (the songs are fun live, which is what they were aiming for). Next album is 2015, they've been recording on and off for a while apparently

Great band. All fantastic albums offering a different sound & evolution of the band with each album.

El Camino though is their worst by far, too produced, and just doesn't really move me at all. Still really intrigued by what they put out next, as every album they've done grows and differs, and evolves to their next offering,.....kinda cool.

  3. Freddie all day long. He was the biggest showman, and had all audiences in the palm of his hand always.

Axl beats other greats in that realm tho, eg. Robert Plant et el.

Edit: Fucking lol at the Vince Neil comment,.......sometimes I wonder about this board :P

  4. Vince Neil has always been a joke.....failing that a commercial joke. Axl has saved some integrity, and is fitter both in mind and body (despite being a fatty) that he can orchestrate better music from his band and deliver better vocals and melody.......and with that comes being able to scrap better than Vince (lol at this guy, always has been the biggest pussy imo)

  5. I've gone with yes.

Not because I'm pessimistic, trolling, or want the end of GnR (nor am I one hooked on the old lineup or wanting a reunion).

Personally I think that financially, it would be a mistake and a struggle. GnR name still sells tickets, and still sell tours, and still make money that I assume manages to maintain Axl's lifestyle, entourage and what not. So that would be tough. BUT I do believe (again based on nothing but my own thoughts/feelings), that by ditching the name, Axl would have a giant monkey off his back. CD off his back, GnR off his back, free to just enjoy his music without the pressures, comparisons and preconceived conceptions, that comes with GnR now. That I reckon would give him a massive creative sigh of relief and even with his seemingly perfectionist nature, new music would flow out.......and be judged as it is,...not as GNR.

I think critics would give it more time of day, fellow musicians would have more respect for it, and he'd still be able to sell out shows (perhaps not full arenas, but decent clubs) on his name alone (plus some GNR numbers) and build up a mean following again.

Not even necessarily a solo project. A new band. Subtly put out there. Would be fucking awesome.

  6. All this drama for 15 seconds of bullshit, 5 of which we've already heard. Somebody shoot me.

    This. +1

I cant even be fucked trying to find myself the track with the leaked clips. I'd love to hear new stuff, of course, but nothing here interests me in the slightest enough to warrant digging it up or harassing ppl via PMs. Let alone all this drama.

  7. I usually don't post in these kind of topics because so many "seem" to get so defensive sometimes...but something about this particular BBF topic has a sour taste about it...however he did say it would get worked out...what that means still remains up in the air though?

The band really should release a new song on iTunes, like a new cover or something just to test the current market, Like the neil young cover or the acdc cover

You hear so many people say they don't buy music anymore, we'll that is pure bullshit.

Not everyone is wearing a black patch over one eye.

Many still buy music (on iTunes) for the quality and the accessibility.

Alright, go ahead and lambast me......now, go.

Totally agree with the point of releasing a single song via Itunes or something.

Can't hurt, it will appease the almost deteriorating fan base, gives a bunch of music sites, magazines, blogs, etc to write something about them.

Seeing as all we have heard is they have a bucket load of songs, albums worth, I don't see why this would be a bad idea???

Shit, even doing a fun studio cover. All such simple things, and that involve minimal effort.

  8. Quite honestly I do think keeping the name is hurting CD and the band more than it does them good in some area's. Sure, it justifies leaning on AFD material for over 10 years and it helps concert sales. But it might have been good for general acceptance of the band and the album if it'd been done under a different name.

Yup I agree. Very good point.

When newgnr were newgnr and it was still very mystical and somewhat relevant (musically)....so late 90s, very very early 2000s. I saw it differently, and was a supporter of the new line up and took it as the band just evolving and changing as time went by. Nowadays I can't see that, especiallly post CD release.

Definitely in hindsight, releasing CD and producing more post CD ...all with a different name...probably would have worked better for them. Shit, they could even have just called the new band Chinese Democracy, and gone from there.

  9. Thats a shame. Quite like that character.

I still watch the show if its on and I happen to be surfing past it, or if someone tells me to check out a specific episode. Shows like this always slowly become hit n' miss after a certain amount of seasons with regard to consistency.

American Dad overtook Family Guy, and thats now on its downfall as well really,...but again still hilarious at times.

  10. nice tones.

Such a shame Slash doesn't have anyone else playing with him, just to fill the space a little bit. Eg. His solo sounds lame like some dude playing in his bedroom (albeit playing well :P). ANother guitarist, someone stomping on a bass drum, something....would have lifted this to something really good imo.

  11. I'm at a loss for words at how little common sense people have. The comparison between Guns N' Roses was not literal. Holy fucking shit some people have absolute zero ability to grasp simple points. It's like you're too damn smart for your own good that you miss what's being said an over analyze shit to the point your response has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

No shit Apple is different than GnR but the fact remains GNR is HUGE brand and should be run by a competent management team. Instead they are run by people who clearly have no clue and that HUGE brand is diminishing daily. Take U2 for example. According to most they are well past their prime yet they are bigger now than ever in terms of what they generate. Anyone think that'd be possible if Bono's maid and her son were running the show?

The people defending team Brazil in regards to their management skills need to stop it.

    Very good point imo.

I never really thought about it, and just took it as is with the whole Fernando / Beta management situation. I certainly don't think they are even close to being the right ppl for the job,...sure they might be the right ppl to support Axl, even help advise him, and be his PA(s),...but I'm not convinced they are the right team with the best interests in GNR or have the capability & experience to do gnr justice.

You're also right in the whole 'diminishing daily' comment. Sad but true.

  12. Good lord. So does this Fernando post buy the camp another massive period of no news, productivity, music etc????... Posts like that are pointless. He has posted to let us know nothing.

Its only music, I'm really struggling to understand why its so hard to not just be honest with updates ....nor do I understand why its hard to get a group of like minded folk in a room to jam out ideas, build songs....then push that out there.

Just strip everything back to basics, and what you enjoy doing, and let loose....I'm sure the end result would be good (music doesn't have to be grandiose and epic all the god damn time).

Alternatively, be honest and let us know if GnR aren't interested in creating new music, and call it a day on GNR. Get that monkey off everyones back, and start fresh without the GNR expectations.

  13. Jesus Yesterdaze, relax. People are simply using 'Live Era' to shorten the album name. We all know what each other mean when this is typed....or even said. We have heaps of abbreviations for albums; Chinese, CD, UYI, Illusions, Illusions 1, Appetite, AFD, ....."Live Era" is just another one.

Live Era is a fascinating time in Axl/Guns history, thats why I enjoy it now when looking back. Also remember getting excited when seeing in the store, but feeling a little disjointed when listening to it (due to the overdubs / production I'd say).

The early CD demos were exciting too, and like someone else posted, i also felt he was holding back some amazing tracks (imo turns out he wasn't, as the leaks appeared to be his 'big guns').

  14. Hope he is honest and frank as per what HV mentioned.

Would be keen to get his complete unfiltered opinion on how he feels creatively in Guns since his arrival and post CD. Nothing new since he has been there, and he is clearly someone who loves all things music,...so its weird that he can be creatively happy playing the same songs over n' over (of course he plays to good crowds and gets to travel which would be a mega bonus).

  15. Shit yes!

Without a second thought, as soon as i heard of it waaaaaay back I was keen as hell to hear it.

IMO it doesn't replace the original, or tarnish it, or anything, nor should ppl look at it like that.

I wouldn't support it if all future pressings of AFD were to be the '99 version as that would ridiculous.

Look forward to that and anything, original or otherwise, from this sort of time period in Axl/Guns' life. Finger crossed a box set or anniversary release has this slipped in somewhere.

  16. On a slightly unrelated note, I also discovered that it's warchild who's responsible for the "UziSuicidal LLC" account that keeps removing youtube videos for "copyright infringement".

WHAT?! Man... That son of a bitch got my whole channel pulled.

Me too, and knowing it was Warchild all along who was the reason I got banned (for uploading a fair use fanmade video of Better years ago with live audio), and she is the reason I can now no longer register a YouTube account with my Google account anymore... well, it just pisses me right off, to say the least. I was one of the many people Warchild had a stalkerish obsession with at one point in time, so it doesn't really surprise me that she went after my account. It has literally made my usage of YouTube frustrating on a daily basis for the past six years, as every single time I want to do anything (favorite a video, make a comment, etc.) I have to log out of my normal Google account first. It's even worse on Android devices. Imagine how frustrating this can be if you are on an Android device (like my mobile phone), and logged in to your Google account, and you try to load YouTube app and it tells you that you can't view the page because your account is suspended. I had to register a secondary Google account and any time I want to load YouTube on my phone or Internet browser I have to switch to my other account.

If anyone else had accounts pulled for copyright violation, let's all complain to YouTube. Apparently if we can prove the Uzi Suicidal account is fake, you can have it suspended, and ALL copyright complaints ever filed by the account can be removed by request. It is certainly something we should consider looking into, imo. It could mean recovering entire video channels that were unfairly taken down over the past six years or longer. If anyone has any way of proving substantially that Uzi Suicidal LLC is a fake account, let's consolidate all the evidence we have and try to make a case for it?

I have the same accounts issue, it's extremely annoying, and it pisses me off to know that a "fellow GNR fan" did it for no reason whatsoever. I'm on for the case, but how are going to contact YouTube?

Doesn't impact me at all, apart from seeing heaps of vids and channels pulled due to Uzi Suicidal LLC. Fact it's not legit at just some loser behind their computer is really annoying,...personally I originally thought GNR had completely lost the plot by removing/reporting all that stuff. Knowing it's just some bitter cupcake is quite reassuring.

Doesn't someone here have contact with the band or management? Fernando or someone? (forget his name). Surely they could confirm that the owner of said account isn't official and help provide evidence you need to pass on to youtube. I would imagine not even full concrete evidence would be needed to convince youtube to overturn shit, as youtube will just be covering their arse and not questioning the authenticity of it all when the initial reports come in for 'Uzi Sucide LLC'.

What does that person even gain?...sure reporting leaks and the like I can understand,...but all you lot are doing is uploaded fan vids, old footage, etc which youtube ...to a degree..was built on, whilst GnR surely can't complain about the advertising that does for them as well.

    o_O

  17. Original Post was really hard to read. ... or is it just me?

Anyways, doing covers of songs on albums, EP, LPs etc, has often baffled me (regarding the legality of it). Some folk seem to think you have to get permission from the owner (or band for arguments sake), but from my limited experience there are organisations that protect the artists. In my home country I can record whatever cover I want for sale on any media, I let said organisation know, and they sort out the legalities / fees on my behalf.

Friend of mines band included a Neil Young cover on their album. No permission was required from Neil himself, or approval of the version, just a need said organisation to know it existed and pay them.

    Is something different with GnR?
