  1. All of this "could have" "what if" scenarios would not exist....If only Axl would have taken the time to release a solo album in the mid-late 90s. Then maybe he would have gotten the industrial/nu-metal/techno vibe out of his system, and we could have re-entered at least Slash and Duff by the early 00's, and gotten back on track with an actual "Guns n Roses" album.

I don't know how many he got, but he got many. I was just saying

Read an interview with Sebastian Bach I believe on loudwire, if not it was some rock site, 47-8 years ago when he was releasing a solo album.....His album before that featured an Axl guest appearance on Sebastian's cover of "Back in the Saddle Again," as backing vocals....the interviewer asked a question about Axl's guest appearance previously, and Sebastian stated something in the form of (not a direct quote/paraphrase) "He played me some new stuff he'd been working on the other day. I told him it sounds great and asked when he plans on putting it out. He said, "Eh, we'll see, I don't know."

So, there's probably as least a few songs out there, it may not be 200, but I'm sure there's some completed ready for listen.....if we could just hear it.

There is no future as long as Axl keeps saying things like "there could be new music somewhere down the line" and "right now were focused on touring"

You got 200 new songs tucked away, just release them.

Geraldo Rivera got a look at Axl's "Vault" of stashed away songs once:

    Subjective. Subjective. Subjective.

Most bands evolve and don't keep doing the same thing on each record like, oh I don't know, AC/DC?

Load was more hardrock and some rhythm and blues influences, and they started using more melody. I understand that the average metalhead didn't care for that, but some people started getting into Metallica through those records. Usually when a band evolves they lose some fans, but often they gain a new fanbase too.

I don't know if it was Metallica "evolving" or just trying to keep up with the trend of the time. I would imagine that most "new" fans they picked up in the 90s was from The Black Album instead of the latter, being that it's the biggest selling album world wide since 1990. Bob Rock also had a lot of influence on their "new" sound after that success as well....

I've always looked at them as changing their look/sound as a way to "fit in" with popular bands/trends of the mid-90s, to keep that cash machine rolling.....like Metallica went from a "band" to a "brand" at that point. You can't blame them for that though, they are not the only band that tried....Motley Crue went as far as to fire Vince Neil, hire John Carobi, and change their sound so drastically that if you just heard the music, you would have no idea it was Motley Crue.  U2's music even completely changed to an extent as well. Plus, Anthrax even left their thrash roots, and hired John Bush as front man for a more "grunge" sound.

The reason why Metallica changing up is criticized so hard though, is due to the fact that they were the most successful/recognized Metal band, and basically flipped genres. It's hard to imagine if Megadeth, Iron Maiden, or Judas Priest completely abandoned metal to make a hard rock or blues sounding album, and started sporting "Hot Topic" style wear. I believe the reason Metallica returned to a more Metal sound in '08, was due to the fact that they had gotten so side tracked from their roots, and had basically become a totally different band....The last 2 albums are alright, but no where near classics, plus nothing really stands out....You could swap songs from each, and it could fit with either album....as long as you tone down the Rick Rubin loudness of Death Magnetic.  If they "evolved" have the really progressed or improved??? Or are they just going through the motions to keep their name relevant??

  5. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR, WHEN IT COMES TO NEW MUSIC!!

I'll use a couple of movie franchises as to why "new" material should not always be released:

I read a lot of people in this topic referring to Metallica being able to release new material/staying active.....anyone remember the "Saw" move franchise? Remember how the first movie was a great psychological thriller, the second one decent....then all the wheels fell off, and there was like 8 or 9 Saw movies total released, that gradually got worse and worse each time??? I feel like that's what has happened to Metallica, ever since "Load" came out. The first 4 studio albums were great, then the Black Album was pretty good, but softer....then the wheels came off to the point that they even released an album with a symphony. Most were wondering what happened to the band that they once knew, and just who are these guys with short hair cuts using the Metallica name?

    Then there's GnR:

I compare the first 3 "full" studio albums  (AFD, UYI 1 &2)  to the Indiana Jones original trilogy. Raiders, Temple of Doom, and Last Crusade are all timeless classics that everyone loves to watch....Then for some reason in the mid-2000s, Speilberg decided to make "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," after pressure from his kids, and needless to say, what a disappointment!! One of the movies you wish you could un-watch, and forget from memory that is was released.....Kind of like "Chinese Democracy" around that same time period. (LOL--just kidding) But, you get the point, Chinese was alright,  just wasn't quite on par with the previous releases, and really should have been released as Axl's solo album.

So, in summary, I'm not necessarily a big proponent of releasing a whole new album, just for these reasons...I would be satisfied with 3-4 good tracks from the reunited crew in an EP of some sort, but fear what an 11-12 track album might actually sound like....could be as bad as Aerosmith's last studio album a few years back.

  6. I've always looked at it...with any musical artist....I know at one time period, record labels had to make their money, but you shouldn't really rush anyone in to new recordings. If you want good quality music, don't put a deadline to rush something out....When I was a teenager in the 90s, I can think of a lot of artists that had good debut albums, but then the sophomore album was a flop, often due to being rushed.

In this day in time of downloadable music, we're at the point where a full album isn't required as much...I think if an artist has 4-5 songs they like and want to put out an EP, that's fine...or if it's even a new single only, they want to share with everyone, that's fine.....As long as we get a good quality effort.

  7. Anyone know if there is any truth to something I read in a magazine years ago....Stating that at one point after Velvet Revolver formed, that Slash showed up at Axl's house, wanting to talk about reconciling....Even going as far to call Scott Weiland a "Fraud?"  I can't remember the source of reading this, but this stuck out in my mind...and seems like it may have even been addressed on the Howard Stern show at one point as well.....by Baba Booey.

  8. I'm not gonna post any kind of link to get myself in trouble.....but...this is regarding a snippet of a song I came across on youtube, several times actually.......

If you search for "New Guns n Roses Song Leaked-2011" it's a 27 second clip of a intro to a song, and what sounds like a legit Axl "howl" leading into the song. The guitar riff and drums sound pretty good, for whatever this is....but the "Indian Harp" sound at the end is a little odd.....

Is this something fan made, or actually another band this clip was taken from, and someone inserted the Axl scream???

Saw comments of this being called "Zodiac"   Anyone else ever came across this, or have any more info?? It would be greatly appreciated.

  9. Worth it.....when he's singing more of his own material (Love/Hate and solo). He has been all over the place as mentioned....Ratt, Quiet Riot, LA Guns, Adler's Band...etc.... If it is only a 10 minute walk, I would go see it....He's still much better than catching 90% of the country, pop, and hip-hop acts of today.

  10. https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/gallery/100-best-albums-of-all-time/ss-AAvZb5M?li=BBnb7Kz

24/7 Wall St. created an index to chart the 100 best albums of all time, based on Album Sales, Billboard Performance, and Recognition Among Music Fans. Guns n Roses charted 3 Albums on the list, with Use Your Illusion 2 coming in at #56, Use Your Illusion 1 coming in at #53, and Appetite for Destruction coming in at #23.

Personally, I think this list is a little off at times, and basically turned into The Beatles countdown at one point...but I was surprised at some of the entries on this list (Toxicity, Audioslave, etc...) and the omission of Hip-Hop and Country albums.

  11. OK people...The Shadow of Your Love Lyric video has only been out for what, 4-5 days now, and you all are complaining about it ONLY having 1 million views??

Compare this....Black Label Society's latest official video for the single, "Room of Nightmares" has been on Youtube/Vevo for 7 months now, and just now hit 1 million views last week.

Also, Five Finger Death Punch put out a lyric video for "When the Seasons Change" on the same day as Shadow of Your Love, and it only has 718,000 views currently.
