.. Merck is just doing his job.
What i don't understand are the fans who act like they work for the label.
I have to agree.
Merck is just doing his job - which is representing his client and looking after his client's best interest. What's wrong with that?
Whats wrong is that all he seems to do is snuff out rumors, and send out threats/cease & desist orders. Which is fine, he is probably more or less Axl's puppet, but still. As a fan, wouldn't you like to occasional statement on the progress of the band/album? I know I would. A simple statement: "Axl would like to thank the fans for their support, and all of the positive reactions about the recent tracks that have leaked, etc...etc...etc... While it is unfortunate that we ask that these tracks spread no further, you the fans can be reassured that you will be rewarded for your patience shortly."
Even something vague like that would be fine. I'm just sick of Merck and "Management" popping up when its time to do something negative. How about contributing something POSITIVE for ONCE.

Some douche "warned" me for making fun of Merck... I've said it many times, and I'll say it again.
Fuck Merck.
Oh yeah, I might get warned again for bad language on a site that is for a band that features bad language in their songs... Irony at its finest.

All you have to do is ask the right person, and the tracks are yours.
-
What short of going to everyone's house and deleting their files can he do? Nothing. They leaked, they're out there... they will probably spread even further
-
Axl has shown his fans ZERO respect for going on four years. In short, no... I don't have respect for the group. Try giving some first, and then you'll get some Axl.
-
I have yet to hear it. I heard it was just an edited live version

I.R.S. definately has a hip-hop beat to it, but it works for the song. I think the vocals and drums need to be stronger though.
Its definately something different, but its not necessarily bad.

I'd be disappointed if a completed version of "TWAT" wasn't on the album, as I actually really like the song.
-
Dizzy is cool... his wife is a twat. Pun intended.
-
Its not the point of Finck playing slash's parts... its the fact that I don't trust Finck playing anything complex.
-
It would make too much sense for him to make a statement. I'm sure if he did, he'd take some shots at the people who leaked and downloaded the songs, rather than expressing thanks for the overwhelmingly positive reaction thusfar.

Robin Stinck sucks. He is too sloppy, and inconsistent. His playing ranged from decent to abysmal on the 2002 tour.
Fortus surprised me. He added a lot to the songs that wasn't there before. You can hear his presence in Madagascar, and his solo in NR was SPOT ON. I wouldn't mind having him on as rhythm, as long as Finck isn't lead.
Bucket is a freak of nature. If he wasn't so creepy looking, he'd probably be regarded as one of the best ever. This guy can play any style. I mean fuck... I saw him play EVH's "Eruption" with a rubber hand.
Of course everyone wants Slash back, and in a perfect world he is probably the best guy to have from an emotional/technical standpoint, eventhough Bucket kills him technically.
-
I think he and Axl met in the same plastic surgeon's office... they have the same eyebrows.
-
This Merck fellow everyone keeps talking about ... is he a good looking guy?
I don't know... you tell me. Looks like quite the choad to me.
-
After the tour, that was it for me... I thought the tour would bring the album shortly after. Now I take a "I'll believe it when I see it" approach. I'm not listening to release dates, rumors, news, anything... When I have the album in my hand, thats when I'll believe its out.

I have downloaded every file available, IRS, both versions of "Better", and both versions of "There was a time."
If anything else leaks, I'm downloading that too.
Some people say they are laying off, and not downloading them, and I respect that. Just come October/November/December when we have jack shit in terms of official material, don't go groveling for the songs.
I for one don't think anything is coming anytime soon.
-
Talk to me in four years if there is still no album... then tell me you're glad.
Bullshit. Its nothing short of pathetic that it has taken this long.
-
If I were a betting man, I'll bet anyone here that the album isn't even called "Chinese Democracy." Axl himself has never actually referred to this album as such, he keeps saying "The album," or "Music"... he is very vague about it. I don't think we'll ever see "Chinese Democracy."
Quote me on that.
-
I am inviting Axl to my apartment for a chinese democracy listening party... you bring the brews, i'll bring the tunes!
-
I have no opinion of "Better" until I hear the whole thing. Right now, "There was a time" is my favorite leaked song, and behind only "Madagascar" and "The Blues" as my favorite new material.
-
And I say this as honestly as possible. I love "Chinese Democracy." I think it, cleaned up in the studio is the type of raw rock track the album needs. It needs more songs like that, and "Better" mixed in with the epics/ballads like "There Was A Time," "Madagascar," "The Blues" assuming they make the cut. I really like the five songs I just named... and I even think "Rhiad and the Bedouins" has potential, but I'm not gonna tell you I.R.S. is up to snuff with even those tracks, because its not. Maybe with some more powerful vocals, and stronger drumming its a bit better, its just too repeatitive for my tastes.
-
I mean that I think IRS is a decent song. However, for an album with this much hype, a song of that caliber shouldn't make the cut. I'm fine with the song... its catchy, its got a decent beat to it... but I envision it more as a B-Side
-
I'm sorry, but if I.R.S. makes the disc, its a filler track. That doesn't mean its horrible, but its hardly gonna be a smashing hit. I will wait to pass judgment on this if the album ever comes out.
-
There will be no statement. They are trying to play it off like it never happened... fools.

I wouldn't say he has "given" anything to this community. I don't think he, or anyone else has done much for this community over the past four years.
