  1. I think it's OK, apart from the fact that the verse and chorus are the same melody.

I went to the show earlier this week where they played the whole album live. I can say there are some way better songs than this, but also some that are worse.

  2. He's one of my favorite singers and songwriters. I was lucky enough to see him in a small club about a year ago, playing the whole My Aim is True album with the band that played on the recording.

Anyone catch his talk show on the Sundance channel? It's great, just him talking to musicians about music, and then they perform together. Like Inside the Actors Studio, for musicians.

  3. That's just great. I'm below 30, so of course I'm just following a trend by taking an interest in a genre that is popular right now. To be honest, I never really liked the way you control this forum and I rarely agreed with most of the things you posted, but at least I always thought you were level-headed and unbiased most of the time. Now you just fucked that up. Judging from your reply, you have read very few of my posts in this section. It's not even funny the way you prove your ignorance by accusing someone of following a trend, as well as denying the fact that they are knowledgeable enough to think independently, due to their age.

I'm 30 years old, but I wish I had the maturity, intelligence, and musical curiosity at age 16 that you have shown in this thread.

I think I've discovered and listened to more rap in the last 5 years than I have in the previous 20 years that I've been actively listening to music. It ain't just a high school trend, that's for sure.

  4. In 07 when I saw Velvet Revolver they came out to Straight Outta Compton, that was pretty cool.

That intro was BADASS. And every time I saw it, people in the audience knew the words and were rapping along.

Run DMC is being inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame next month. Grandmaster Flash is in, and the Beastie Boys have been nominated...they are sure to get in soon (I guarantee NWA is a lock too, their eligibility is coming up soon...) Regardless of what you think about the hall of fame and some of the dubious choices they've made in the past, it is obvious that there are rap groups that are still very highly regarded 25 years after they first came out.

  5. Man I just CAN NOT like this song. I think it sorta sucks.. what's the best performance of this song on audio or video that I can find? First time I listened to IRS I thought it was annoying as well, then I heard Rock am ring version or something and since then I think it's really powerful.. but this? Please convince ;)

It sounds better in 2006, I believe. At least that's when I finally started to like the song. I guess I must've been convinced by one of the Hammerstein versions.
