  1. I've always believed that there would be new music.

The current band has stuck with Axl for a very long time now, and they deserve their chance to imprint their stamp on the GnR name.

Unfortunately, it sure seems like Beta and her children do NOT have any interest in seeing Axl share music with his MILLIONS of fans. They are happy with Axl just touring the back catalog and raking in as much money as possible. She thinks a fan asking about a new album is just more "complaining." Keep in mind, Axl has released ONE album in the last 20 years. That tells you ALL you need to know about Beta and her motives.

Unfortunately, and this actually makes me sad to say, as long as Beta and her children are running this band.........we probably won't ever get new music. And what a shame that is.

I can understand Beta's motives for keeping Axl touring--he's their money making ho, as long as he's touring and raking in petty cash, Beta, Fermanager and Vanessa can live their own high class lifestyles and see the world. She's the pimp, he's the money making ho. And Axl makes enough money to keep furnishing his own lavish lifestyle while having to do the bare minimum. For Axl, Beta, and the Lebeis Co., it's a mutually beneficial arrangement.

But...Why would it not be in her interest for him to release a new album? That'd just be more money her way indirectly, as I'm sure Axl takes care of the Lebeis Family out of his own pocket anyway.

  2. Opinions?

''Using unorthodox 24-hour therapy, involving control of "every aspect of [his] physical, personal, social and sexual environments", Landy was successful in limiting Brian Wilson's drug abuse and improving his physical appearance and overall health. In the process, however, he was accused of brainwashing, drugging and isolating his patient, then benefiting from an improper business relationship with him.'
  3. What I mean is, does anyone else believe that no other tracks (with the exception of that Jackie Chan track) exist? That the reason we haven't seen a second album is because, outside of bits and pieces of studio jams maybe, no real second album (be it by the Bucket era lineup or this current lineup) exists?

Slash once said Axl considered what was nothing more than him playing guitar to be a "song". When it was really just guitar riffs and far from what most would consider a "song".

Axl said there was 32 "songs". Maybe all those "songs" are are chopped up bits of nonsense from various sessions.

Given it has been 5 years--HALF A FUCKING DECADE-- with no hint or whisper or any real talk of a new album, does anyone else believe now that CD may have been the only completed material Axl had?

Maybe the label in 2008 just demanded whatever Axl had in a finished form, cobbled together a release from some ideas he had in terms of artwork etc, old ideas, and threw it out there, to make some sort of return and wash their hands of Mr. Rose? That would explain songs like TWAT and IRS having 10 year old vocal tracks, the messed up booklet with errors, the lack of promotion or enthusiasm by Axl after release....It wasn't "Chinese Democracy", it was just a cobbled together compilation-esque mess of everything Axl had in a completed form thrown out there in some deal with the label, so they could be done with him.

And that's all there was in terms of new material.

  4. Cheap Trick sound like the original hair metal band. I saw a pic of them and one member is bald so maybe I'm way off. again.

Check out Tonight Its You, my favorite by them :)

Kurt was it, Kurt was the bollocks, Kurt (or more accurately, Nirvana) were the fuckin' bollocks, flat out one of the most powerful bands ever, up there with The Pistols and The Stooges.

Kurt liked bollocks is more accurate.

"Those sexist pigs! Those mean jerks!" God what a Nancy boy.

And their music sucked. It's only good when you're severely depressed.

And The Stooges are the only good band you mentioned.

  5. Basically I want a sampling of what's hot in dance, dubstep, pop (especially electro-pop) and rock both in the first half of this year and right now. As I've said my goal is to create some awesome fusion of rockabilly, classic rock and modern hot music but I need to know what songs/artists are hot right now.

  6. this album is the main reason ppl started calling LZ boring old farts. the only good track imo is achilles last stand. nobody's fault is good but it's a traditional song, and tea for one is since i've been loving you 2

How is it boring? Every song is blistering blasting hard rock.

  7. If GNR had put out new music with Axl, Slash, Duff, and Izzy in '99-'02, it would have done fine, but Axl and Slash would have had to come to some sort of agreement on the direction of the music. I think Axl should've done a full on industrial project outside of GNR under a pseudonym in the mid 90s instead of trying to keep GNR going.

Metallica tried to keep up with things and it worked against them. It's almost been 20 years since "Load" happened so we're going to see evaluations on mid 90s Metallica soon enough.

I think Load was their best record.

And you probably wonder why people think you're a dick.

Load shows that they were capable of much much more than just Thrash Metal musically. Not only that but subjectively I'm a fan of rock more than of metal and on Load they're a damn good rock band.

  9. I harp on it because I feel it's an incredibly underated album. I never will understand why it's viewed as lesser. It's got fucking Achilles' Last Stand--easily one of their top 5 best songs EVER on there and one of the most influential rock songs ever right there. And Nobody's Fault But Mine was a favorite and Candy Store Rock did well as a single.

  10. I have an idea.

There are some fans who want the rest of the CD/Bucket/Finck era material to be released. There are others who want the current lineup to release a record.

Why not have GN'R release a double album, like Michael Jackson did with HiStory--title it "Manic/Depressive".

Side 1 "("Manic") would be the current lineup's new music, perhaps writing more hard rock, traditional GN'R type of upbeat rock songs given the presence of Ashba and Fortus.

Side 2 ("Depressive") would be the Bucket/Finck era material/leftovers and more experimental material.

Not only would this put a good number of material out there for consumption, discussion and to just liven things up in the GN'R world--it'd be exciting. A double album could easily be 30 new songs to digest and listen to and talk about--that'd be the best thing that happened to the community in general. You'd have one album for fans of hard rock and traditional GN'R stuff, and another for fans of more experimental/electronic stuff all in one.

Release alongside it non-album singles varying from traditional through wildly experimental, perhaps as digital downloads or in a special edition limited release of "Manic/Depressive" as a third disc to fill out the set to 40 songs. Just throw everything Axl's got in the vault from '97 to now out there in essence.

But this idea would also allow for a great deal of musical variety--I imagine the current lineup would craft much different music than the Bucket/Finck lineuo--and also would appease both sides. The Bucket era fans would get their CD II; The current lineup fans would get a totally new record.

  11. The UYIs sold 7 million each in the US alone and about 18 million worldwide. Two years later TSI came out and just barely cracked 1 million in the US--a massive drop, even despite it being a cover album.

Consider that Metallica's live "Binge and Purge" set came out the same year and was a massive seller. Similar releases--basically, both bands released no REAL new material, yet Binge and Purge, despite being expensive and a big box set, was a massive hit, while TSI, being just a humble album, was a commercial failure.

In '99, when GN'R released their own live album, it only sold about 500,000 copies in the US. Again compare that to Metallica's S&M released the same year in terms of sales.

If the TSI era lineup had released a record say in '95 or '96, would it perhaps have sold even less, or only on par with TSI?

Might GN'R have been sidelined and faded into obscurity in the 90s even with a "next" mid 90s record by the TSI lineup?

  12. 1) What is the general demographic for your average GN'R concert audience?

    2) What keeps casual (as in, non die hard like us, but knowledgeable enough to know that Slash isn't in the band) fans going to the concerts?

    3) Has anyone here ever made chat with a casual fan about GN'R before, at or after a concert? What were the casual GN'R fans or casual rock music fan's impressions? Have you ever met any GN'R concertgoer who thought Slash was still in the band?
