  1. I'm actually really diggin' this stage set up with the smaller screens on each side of the stage, and the new backing videos are waaaaaaaaaay better than the old ones. And damn, Ron is a beast. He's so fuckin' lean and mean now. I'm glad he's turned a corner physically...

Is it me or does it look like some of the videos were taken from Vegas. I swore I saw Casino's in some shots.. That's kinda lazy if you ask me.

Your avatar is kinda gay. Dude, I will paypal you 20 bucks if you get rid of that homo on your avatar.

  2. This is a review from someone who is mad at Axl, doubt he was even there. And if he was, it was biased. I am apathetic about Axl and old GNR, and he sounds fine and plays three hours shows. I have no idea what people want from him.

  3. If you can't hear his singing clearly at the show, you're not going to to hear it clearly from a cell phone recording from the audience either. Those compose a majority of the bootlegged videos that end up on YouTube.

If sending reviewers to shows is inaccurate and flawed way to judge a live a performance, then print and online media have been getting it wrong for years. They should just sit at home and wait for YouTube videos to pop up.

    Ali

So you're saying print and online media have been getting it right for years? Oh, the selective memory of Axl worshipers. One not awful review, and you're all like, "He was great! See the review says so [even though it doesn't]."

    magisme

No, you completely misunderstood. If you're going to dismiss the opinions of people that were at a show by saying "you can't hear his singing that well when you're at the show", then it seems that online and print media have been doing it wrong for years by sending reviewers to shows. They should just have people wait around and try to check out YouTube videos to judge performances.

Also, I don't see how you're going to hear his singing off an audience cell phone recording any more clearly than if you were at the shows.

    Ali

Hey Ali, why are you arguing with people who are telling you it is more important what the show sounds like on youtube than when you are actually there? If my math is correct, the shows are mixed for the people who are there live. It is called a LIVE show? So, let the people who feel cellphone/IPAD mixes are more important. I am gonna guess they are just butt hurt fans who can't go, so they hate from there keyboards.

I love the "Well it sounded great at the show, but..... :rofl-lol:

As I expected, he sounds terrible.

Do you just copy and paste all of your posts, they all sound exactly the same.

Maybe you'd better get the wax cleaned out of your ears, you're not hearing the same sound as most of the people attending the concerts.

You got it, all he ever does is complain. We get it, you don't like his voice anymore. Quit trying to ruin the people who have attended or will be attendings perception. Let em decide for themselves. Your act is old.

Made 1 six word comment in this thread after I saw the vids from the show. Of course the worship crew goes full apoplectic and blows it entirely out of proportion.

Saw the vids from the show.

These are the most telling six words. Talk to me when you are there.

  4. So this guy is lucky enough to almost catch the mic... and then misses it. I'd feel stupid too.

Jimbo, I hope you are a girl and that is your boyfriend, or a guy and that is your gay lover. I hope to God you did not CHOOSE to put that avatar there. :nervous:

  5. If I lived my life hinged in Axl Rose, I would be worried, but the man has done enough. Lets hope, but enough with the black helicopters Randy. What is the statute of limitations of this board stirring up shit? My God, lets just wait and see. Go outside man.

  6. Bon Jovi is exactly like Gn'R and a lot of heyday late 80's rock bands....they're all just more or less disguised nostalgia acts now. The best songs were written in both bands a looong time ago and nothings gonna change that. Deal with it and accept it. I have.

The difference between GN'R and a lot of other band is a lot of the other bands still have the same musicians from the 80's. Motley, Poison, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith. Barring Axl and Dizzy, not one member of the current band had anything to do with the hits from the 80's and early 90's that the set-list's consist of. If Axl want's the continue being a nostalgia act, than he might as well reunite with the old band. What's the difference?

And all those bands have released more new music than Axl has in the last decade.

If Axl want's the continue being a nostalgia act, than he might as well reunite with the old band. What's the difference

The difference is he doesn't want to, and that is his right. You wanna call it a nostalgia act, fine. But he calls it winding down his career doing what he wants to do. And some young guy who has no musical catalog, and has never had ANY musical success, looks like a fool telling Axl how to end his career. We all want to work hard, get your goals, and then reap the rewards when we are finished. I have no idea what is wrong with any of what he is doing at all. He did it already. There is no reason he should be forced to do it again, if that isn't what he wants, just cause YOU think he should. You don't like it, go listen to Metallica.

Remember people, he is 51. A lot of people (not everyone) put on weight with age...just look at the whole cast from the sopranos.

He's not an actor...he's a rock star. I could give you an almost endless list of lead singers of his age (or older) that are still fit as f@ck. Age is not by itself a good excuse to let one go... That being said Axl is looking definitely better and less bloated than in late '12 and that has gotta be a good sign for the rest of the year. His vocals are not also that bad actually which surprised me. Here's to a great '13 Axl n'Roses!

    > I could give you an almost endless list of lead singers of his age (or older) that are still fit as

    f@ck.

Actually no you cant. I am gonna go out on a limb here and say that Axl is MORE fit than the average 51 year old man in this country. I can't believe how harsh people are about his weight. He is wealthy, and has all the rich foods, lifestyle etc. He looks great for his age, and you have no idea what his medication does to his weight as well. And just cause he has a little gut, which may be genetic, does not mean he is not fit. I was just a a three hour show where he ran around and danced all show. He is fine. You guys are ridiculous. Funny part is, I bet more than half of you guys talking shit have a bigger boiler than he does.

Joe Perry (62) Jon Bon Jovi (50) Richie Sambora (53) David Bryan (51) Duff McKagan (49) Kirk Hammett (51) James Hetfield (49) Roger Daltrey (68) Mick Jagger (69), Bruce Springsteen (63) Paul McCartney (70) CC Deville (50) Tommy Lee (50) Prince (54) David Bowie (66) Phil Collen (54) Geoff Tate (54) David Coverdale (61) Vivian Campbell (50) Tony Iommi (64) .

That is what 10 guys? Is that endless? Do you really think I could not name more than that who arent/. That is not endless. And some of those names arent any more fit than he is. A small gut does not mean unfit. And half of those guys are not household names with all the money and fame. That was a horrible list.

  8. I think the fucker should try.

Rehearse, take care of your voice, take care of you body.

Then promote something you can be proud of. Not just because it's a decent performance, but because it's you giving everything you possibly can.

The guy does fuck all, and everybody on here somehow acts baffled when the general public and people with the ability to get their heads out of Axl's ass laughs in his face in cases like this.

Is this what YOU do when you release your concerts from your albums? I got an idea, come back from fantasyland and realize you have no idea what he is about, what he is thinking, and what it is like to be him. I love it when people who have never done shit in music tell Axl what to do. I bet he doesn't care how you run your life.

  9. I wonder if Team Brazil saying "you sound great!" to Axl every night was about to backfire on them with the mainstream seeing how bad he sounds now.

It would expose them as Yes Men.

We can't have that, now can we?

    You have an overactive imagination.

The reality is, Axl's voice is awful and his management still puts him out there to perform.

That's not fair to him or the fans. Something's gotta give.

When was the last time you caught a show? The last one I was at, people seemed to think his voice was pretty damn good.

It always sounds good when you're at a show. Truth is, though, listening to a recording is a much better representation of what his voice actually sounds like. I mean, with any singer really.

No. I was at the Mallorca gig last year and he sounded awful and weak.

Alright, well, this was really the main point: "listening to a recording is a much better representation of what his voice actually sounds like"

Who cares, if he sounds good at the show, that is all that matters.

    Is it, though?

Absolutely. It is why I buy the ticket. If the mix is good, which it has been every time besides the Warfield in 2006, who friggin cares? I cant believe people who don't go to the shows are so judgmental. Makes no sense to me bro.

Isn't that the point? So what is the problem?

  12. Can't say I'm surprised. Guns N' Roses is wildly gifted in the art of cancellation and disappointment.

He maybe cancelled one show on what 200 since 2006? He rescheduled the ones he missed cause of Tommy's wrist. Where have you been?

You are an idiot. I have seen Axl twice in the last year.and when you are there, he sounds fine. he is not at his best anymore, but at the shows, he sounds great. What kind of retard judges shows by crappy youtube recording. You must not have gone at all.

  14. It's amazing how people want to see the band they supposedly love, fall on their arse.

I disagree. Most people want Axl and the band to succeed. I think everybody would be much more positive if Axl released albums more frequently, kept in contact with his fans and GnR was putting on awesome concerts, where Axl's voice was strong, and they were selling out 80,000 seat venues.

No, I disagree, I think people here had an unrealistic idea of what it means to be 51 and have done it all before.

Yeah, tell that to Bon Joni.

    5272875285_9b690ca665_m.jpg

I not everyone is the same tell that to the other 5,000 rock stars for every Bon Jovi. BTW, BoN Jovi is a family man, and a fit fucker. Axl Rose IMO may been a tad harder on himself. And again, while Bon Jovi is a good point, how bout Mike Reno, he still wears his bandana too...

    l.jpg

There are all levels of aging. Axl looks to be somewhere in the middle. Bon Jovi was a fucking Calvin Kline model. Do you really think Bon Jovi is a fair comparison? He is the norm? I would rather be a has been than a never was.

  15. I am 50/50 on it, as I said. But it is in line with the person who removes Slash t-shirts from venues (and he does do this: you cannot whitewash it any other way).

I have never seen one picture, or video with this, and actually not one person I have seen say this. In a day and age where literally EVERYONE HAS A PHONE CAMERA, you are going to tell me that NOBODY took a pic, or recorded it. It is an urban legend, and Richard Gere put gerbils in his butt, Rod Stewert had a ball of sperm in his stomach etc. Anyone who is gullible enough to believe that is ridiculous ignorant.

People who want to believe stuff like this WANT Axl to fail. Seriously dude, have you heard gullible was removed from the dictionary? :rofl-lol:

No, I disagree, I think people here had an unrealistic idea of what it means to be 51 and have done it all before. There are a bunch of bitter fans out there who either missed it the first time, or feel entitled that fail to realize that the dude is winding down his career, and just cause they feel they know him better than he does, they don't

I have been to two shows in the last two years, and they sounded great, but not "perfect" but you need to put shit on context. It is almost as if people think he is going to live forever, figuratively not metaphorically. Get the fuck over it, my goodness.

  17. Feeling kinda sad listening to the greatness of his voice back then. As I feel like he doesn't care about his career that much these days and not giving his full when performing.

Axl, your fans love you, that's why they criticize your voice right and left, so that you'll jolt and improve. Sadly your management's hiding all the criticism away from you in hope of not making you upset, which is actually detrimental to your career.

which is actually detrimental to your career.

You know what else is? Touring almost endlessly for 2 1/2 to three hours for 6 years and being 50+ years old. My God, what the fuck do you people want form a 50 year old? Why is it so hard to believe, Axl is aging, and so easy to criticize?

  18. I have seen GNR 3 times in the last two years in California and he has sounded pretty good. I think you just need to be AT the shows. His voice is past its prime, but the sound for these shows are set up to sound good WHILE you are there, and not through a cell phone or camera IMO.

I spend very little time watching bootlegs etc cause well, it has nothing to do with the shows when you are there.

If you can't go to a show, and this is all you see, then yeah, looks grim. But it really isn't anything like that. I have seen 6 since 2006, and not one of them sounded bad. The Warfield in 2006 was a little off as you could not hear his voice that well, but it was the first show of the leg.

I don't understand how you can look at a VIDEO to judge how someone sound with their band LIVE?

  19. I wish all the people who are talking shit about Axl would post a pic of themselves and their age. Would be interesting to see. Think he looks great. I am gonna guess he is below average weight for his age and height in US.

Ditto. I don't get the appearance obsession that some here seem to have . Personally, I don't see the issue with the way that he looks. What should he look like? I think him being out-and-about is only a good thing.

Besides, I look good, 46 years young, but the hairline is going :(
