going to upload Anything Goes from that one stream on my channel, problem is the guys turn the camera to their faces and cut it off near the end but it's better than nothing

Just watched one of the whole song. The sound was pretty low but Axl sounded pretty good on it.

    Jesus,

    look it

Highlight at show Dizzy using piano on Rocket Queen

The best version ever of Rocket Queen

It sounds like they are trying for a Sympathy For The Devil jam there.. That could be pretty cool if they iron it out a bit more.

Not a big fan of pretty tied up with the low voice. Just has no fucking balls to it! Even with Melissa singing the top line.

For me the low voice can be used on certain songs, like NV and it probably wouldn't take away too much, but for these rockers it doesn't work outside of situations where Axl HAS to use it because he's under doctors orders. Tune the facking song down instead!! Verses sound right but the chorus sounds like a car driving in 6th gear going back to 4 or 5.

disagree. I was so relieved he stuck with the low voice. His high voice would have ruined the chorus for me.  Would be very similar to the way he does Slither. He busted out the high voice at the end and it sounded bad.  Save that shit for the ones he can sound good on like when he is beltimng Nightrrain Out... Or the end of It's So Easy and Nightrain.

if anybody from GnR camp reads this... the setlist from this show is why i'm buying tickets for toronto. it doesnt take much.

Yup.. I went to buy PIT tix for Boston last night. I ended up not getting them though after seeing the Live Nation fees were $140 fucking dollars PER TICKET.

  4. Saw Bad Obesssion, Pretty Tied Up and a Piece of Anything Goes.. Axl sounded great and rehearsed. The low regisrer voice nailing it. It was working the whole PTU.. Should stick with it at the end too.  Can't wait to see the full Anything Goes, Down On The Farm and Nice Boys!! I have to admit Axl actually does look more fit too. Glad to see the elf boots gone!

OR just go back to the 90s version... it would be a breath of fresh air.

80's or 90's. That song was always amazing live. They made it their own and it was Gn'R classic.  Between they current live version and the UYI version on the radio the song has become lame as hell.  The song would also benefit from Axls low voice in a major way. It could once again be a very powerful song.

eh... well it sounds a bit better than some of the 2022 performances. I think the audio-mix of that video helps somewhat as they pushed Axl's voice more into the back and brought forward the background singers (Duff, Melissa, etc).

Agreed. The mix made it sound ok but he still sounded very much like Mickey Mouse. Another song he could benefit by using his lower register voice. It could be very powerful. But nope

to sing that way like he did when he had vocal issues in that one show is not a good solution for his lack of ability to be as consistent as he once was as a vocalist imo.

There most likely is no other solution.  Most singers lose their voices as they age.  What Axl used to do was almost unhuman. It is not a knock on him that he can't do it anymore.

a major part of the Gn'R sound is Axl's ability to use his impressive range in such a way that the high notes are a must imho.

Except he doesn't have the ability anymore and he sounds terrible.  I disagree and think it would be a welcome change. He gets ripped apart by most fans, casuals and is an easy target for haters.  He still has some in the tank in short bursts and could still impress people with that. Like the End of Its So Easy, the "You know where the fuck you are parts of Jungle" , Nightrain chorus etc.. Just use it sparingly and it will go a long way.

The mid range stuff has got to go like whatever he does during Sweet Child and Nov Rain.

  9. As of now none.  I jumped on the presale every other time they came around here as well as flew to Vegas for the 2nd reunion show.  I may end up going but as of now the show isn't even on my radar.  The last two shows I saw weren't that great and Absurd/Hardschool were a major turnoff.

This reunion lineup hasn't been that great from the start. When Axl sounded good enough like in 2016 it still worked though. Now, not so much.

You guys who voted zero will regret it when surprise- IZZY is back. And they will play the whole AFD and UYI albums-  with NO covers(except those in the albums) and definitely no CHIDEM songs!!!

and by then, tickets are sold out so you are forced to watch in Youtube!

I would pay $1000 on stubhub if that were the case lol.

Lol. So, you are saying that Absurd moved a significant amount of tickets?

lol.. When they released Absurd it was kind of the nail in the coffin for me as far as interest in the band these days. I am not saying I won't go but the show isn't even on my radar at the moment. I am usually the first one in on the presales and such to try and get the perfect seats. They are going to have to do something to make it worth it. I am not even sure what that is. Shaking up the lineup would help.. Axl sounding decent and rehearsing. Change the order of the setlists. Maybe try different renditions of the songs they always play.  This band and lineup is beyond stale at this point.

My least favorite thing is Slash and Duff just going with the flow and realizing the band is just their meal ticket now.

This is a big one.  They seem to have just went against everything they always stood for. They just "go with the flow" and appease to the point where it doesn't matter if the quality of their performance is subpar. Other than that, Axl's voice, Hardschool and Absurd. Those two songs were pretty much the nail in the coffin for me.

I listened through the piano intro, hoping, praying... and then he started to sing.

    Sigh.

I love the guy, but if he isn't going to sing in baritone, maybe he should retire. His voice is ruined, and it's painful to listen to him now. It's really sad (literally).

This. When I saw this cross my feed last night and I clicked on it. I wanted it to be amazing, but same. He sounded like a dying cat. It wasn't because he was choked up, because this is how he always sounds. It was just more in your face in this performance. The worst part is that I could hear him using his lower register voice (not necessarily baritone) in my head as he was singing, and it would have sounded great.

Frank keeps his mouth shut and plays mediocre drums. The band (Axl, Slash and Duff) would rather a mediocre drummer that deal with someone who would rattle the cage.

There are other options out there besides Adler if they cared enough to not have a mediocre drummer.

  14. True story. I was hanging out with him outside in between his main set and the encore at a show awhile back smoking a joint and a cigarette. He was throwing up and apparently dope sick. His tour manager was there too and said she was going to call the rest of the show off, but he wasn't having it.  He pulled it together and went out and killed it for 3 more songs. I can't even remember when this was.. Almost 20 years ago? It was when Joe Leste, Chip Z' Nuff and Alex Grossi were in the band. It was actually a great lineup.

Anyway, I hope he is ok.  Maybe he was holding his heart as a sign of love and appreciation? Did he end up finishing the show?

How many members on this forum were actually around for AFD? I feel like most members here discovered the band during Illusions or later. I'm sure there is a few on here who have been fans since the very beginning.

Been a fan since 87/88.  They were HUGE where I am from as soon as Sweet Child came out and started gaining steam prior.  Jungle, Sweet Child and PC were massive hits on MTV.  I remember skipping class in High School to go get LIES the day it came out at Strawberries Records. The had a whole wall that was entirely LIES cassettes.

  16. Jumpin Jack Flash (Acoustic)
    Mama Kin
KOHD - Any version from 87-93.. It sucks now
Whole Lotta Rosie - From the Marquee. Don't care for their current rendition.
    Nice Boys!!!!!
The Seeker - It gets a lot of shit, but I think they rock it. I don't even care for the original
    Down on The Farm
    Ain't It Fun
    Look at Your Game Girl

I enjoy most if not all of those better than the originals.

it looks like they based this off of the Estranged Video when Slash comes up out of the water for the solo....except that wasn't actually Slash in the video, was a stand in since he wouldn't do that scene

That guy was wearing a top hat and a tshirt. His face was also completely covered. It is definitely from a picture or video we have seen somewhere though.
