I understand that he would be reluctant, but since other people have the stuff he would be entirely safe if he just leaked things anonymously without any traces back to himself. As long as he doesn't break under questioning, though :)

Sounds about right. Especially with the content having been auctioned. Clearly more than just a few people have these now.

I hope people realize this if it gets out. These are probably rough mixes and in some cases or mixes they’ve been messing with. None of it has been mastered

None of it is release ready nor should be judged to that degree (ie: the drums or guitars sound horrible).

That’s the downside to this thing. There’s little background and it hasn’t been exactly presented to us to understand it

From what I was recently told, they sound amazing. How crazy is it they were found in a locker?

You sure about that?  I'm one of the old fogies and I don't remember them being more popular 92. In fact, I remember that's when Guns started falling off mainstream's radar.  I remember the Settle sound started gearing up before then, (I bought Pearl Jam's Even Flow on cassingle in 92 I think) and by 93 was in full swing. By mid 92 Guns was not the 'cool' band anymore.  Obviously, I've got my own personal point of reference for this (I;m thinking of student parties I went to during those years and what was playing at the time) so maybe it was different in other countries where Guns' popularity lasted a bit longer.

Im 46, and saw GNR when they opened for Aerosmith. And clearly remember, they were still HUGE in 1992, starting to drop a bit in 1993. But pretty much maintained there popularity popularity similar to that of Metallica for several years after. There was the grunge movement (other than Pearl Jam and Nirvana) that came and went by in the blink of an eye, but none of those bands got as big for as long as GNR. And there still a huge draw. Ths only thing that stop the GNR train was GNR themselves. I live in the United States so maybe you're from a different country. Not sure, just sayin'.

I can't imagine TIL or Better going from the setlist, as they seem to be the closest thing ChiDem ever had to "hits". I actually thought Better sounded pretty good at the European gigs I went to this year, think it was the highlight of the shows for me. Haven't dug the voice he's been using on it since Apollo, though :/

CITR would be a great addition to the permanant set list. I love Better. I think it should have been the first single released. It's unmistakable for anyone to not know who the song is sung by. It's vintage Axl Rose. Can't mistake that signature sound. While Chinese Democracy was chosen as the first single I'll never understand.

The average rock station radio listeners didn't even realize it was Axl with NUGNR, because it's not "the voice", the masses acknowledge as sounding like Axl Rose. Only us GNR obsessed fans recognized it. Good song, but shouldn't have been the lead single for Axls first new song in 20 some years. I think if people would have been hit with Better as the lead single, it woukd have worked out better. As well as produce some buzz over the release of SOD. Wich is also unmistakable Axl Rose.

Back on point, I don't see them eliminating TIL. It's another one of Axl's real babys. Sorry shouldn't be played IMO, just on principle that CITR is a great song, and he almost always sounds good singing it.

"They need to get rid of the alliens and get Steven and Izzy back"

As if Izzy wanted to, a tweet doesnt mean that he actually wants it. You people act like you are such a GREAT Izzy fan yet everyone of you tend to block the history of the guy after he left Guns.

IZZY ABANDONED HIS OWN SOLO TOUR AND NEVER TOURED AGAIN. Do you people really think the guy wants to be on a touring machine with all the responsabilities? Fuck off, he doesnt.

And Steven... man, he fucked up on the press at the second he had the oportunity to. That must have been a stab in the back to Axl.

Not saying I didnt want them back, just saying that you people tend to block the reality.

And yeah, they really need to get rid of Frank asap. Melissa has her pourpose and is the whole 91 big band in just one person, Fortus is also good and do a great work, people just tend to hate him because he is not Izzy.

    Regarding the aliens....

Frank needs to go. I would say simply inconsistent tempo. But that's just the selfish singer in me. His lack of feel seems very noticeable to me. He is the one person that shouod be replaced. I'm sure Guns wouldn't have a hard time renting a solid drummer for the rest of the tour. Steven isn't the answer. To many variables with him. He is always going to be a ticking time bomb.

Unless it's Izzy coming back, I wouldn't think of replacing the steady, loyal guitarist. As far as Izzy goes, I woukd absolutely love to see him back in the fold. But he clearly doesnt want this. If he did, he'd be there. Izzy is the one guy Axl seemed to never be insanely pissed off at for the last 20 plus years. Sure they had there moments in the media over the years, but Izzy was back playing with Axl as early as 2006. So it's clear if they had any remaining issues they has been sufficiently squashed. I also think his complaint over lack of money to be bullshit. I cant imagine he wasn't offered at the very least the same as Duff or more. If his complaint is that he was not going to be paid equally to Slash, then that would be apretty stupid sstatement as well. Let's not kid ourselves, GNR isn't in the midst of one of the biggest tours ever because Duff is back playing bass. And they wouldn't be selling out all these massive arena's around the globe because people were willing to fork out $150 for a seat in the nosebleeds to see Axl playing with Izzy every night. It's the draw of Axl back with Slash thats driving this money machine.

Melissa fits in well with her backup vocals. Can't really ever hear her playing, but can't really hear Dizzy either. So I'd keep her just because her with Duff finally gives Guns some good backing vocals.

And lastly, as I've stated many times about Axl's vocals. He can still sing with all the gravel gritting rasp he could back in 2006. Proof as everyone now notes are in that horrible "I feel Good" cover. I've always pointed to his signature "Do you know where the fuck you are" intro to WTTJ always being there still. And then always having the ability to grab a hold of his signature sound periodically throughout a show. Most notably on songs like Nightrain.

And as I've posted many times before as well, using the perspective of being a singer myself, and what I believe to be a little common sense. I believe the reason for his "choice" (yes I said CHOICE) to use his clean voice the vast majority of time are due to, perhaps his inability to sing in his signature sound for so many shows in a single week. I dont know by comparison what the Guns tour schedule in 2006 (I'm using 2006 as referance due to it seemingly being most other posters #1 referance to the last year Axl sounded like himself with fair consistency) was by comparison to the one they are on now, but I would point out #1, that it was 11+ years ago. And he is far beyond the backside for any vocalist when it comes to age. Those are simply facts. I would also think that the fact Axl has come a long, long way from the ridiculously late show up times, or just not showing up at all which he is still infamously known for, would further his effort to make sure he was able to preform any, and every night of the week without the fear of having to cancel because his voice needs more time to recuperate. Not to mention the millions in refunds that would have to be issued after a single cancelation. And all it would take is 1 or 2 of those, and everyone and the media would quickly forget how much more dependable Axl has become.

  6. I'm going to go at this a little different. I'm going to compare my personal top 5 singers "In There Prime" so this won't include current Axl, Freddie when he was starting to get sick. Or Shannon Hoon performing on drugs.

Purely when they were on the top of there game.

    1. Axl

    2. Chris Cornell (Say Hello To Heaven is amazing as is all his solo Live stuff)

    3. Shannon Hoon (unfortunately we only got one full record from him and not a lot of great live recordings by him but he was truly given the gift of singing. I believe there's a quote where Axl told Sebastian Bach about how good he was)

    4. Steven Tyler

    5.  Robert Plant

Don't think I've heard this, so would appreciate if you could upload it.

Are you sure it's not just an edit to remove the crowd noise? As that's the version that appears in the movie and for someone to get their hands on a full unedited version is probably unlikely

It's definitely not crowd noise removed. It's a studio version. There is no piegaro, piegaro at the beginning either. I will gladly upload it when I get back home, Sunday or Monday. I'd like to get a better idea of what it is. I've sent it to several people who are known among the forums to have unheard music that believed it to be the 1999 studio recording. But never have gotten 100% confirmation.

  8. I can never get a straight answer about this version. I have this exact version without any crown noise, was given to me years ago. It's clearly a studio version. Then there's the version that begins this thread which is what I have with crown noise mixed in. For a long time I assumed it was a studio recording for live era. But I have been told that's not correct either. Whatever the case may be it is without a doubt a studio recording with crowd noise mixed into the background to appear to be live.

Loved the studio performance at the end, makes you wonder what the rest of the re-recordings sounded like.

The whole thing is a studio recording.

TJ you sound damn good, when I try to sing this stuff people tell me I'm an octave lower than Axl :(

The "Maybe we'd be better off without you anyway" part sounded too much like Axl, that was TJ screaming the fuck out of it or an Axl snippet?

Yes. E put in the Axl snippet. By the time I got it where I wanted it to sound he had already mixed the song and it was just to big of a pain in the was to take it out, add my part, and make it not sound pasted in.

Yea you take the fans from going you seclude quite a few people. Luckily this is getting streamed so we will all get a chance to hear it. But I think that part makes people nervous. I am completely conflicted on rather Axl can bring it when it comes to GNR.

But I think what will happen is the first 4 songs will sound great, then his voice will falter on the tougher songs but by then most people will have tuned out except hardcore fans and it will go over well. Stern will say how great the show was and we will have an updated soundboard...so it should be a good night imo

my hopes are we see AFD played in its entirety and Axl tears the place apart with some thunderous vocals and this thread turns into a renewed love fest for Axl haha

My exact thoughts when it comes to how I am cringing at the thought of Axls performance. This should be the best non altered audio concert we have heard in a long time. As I am assuming the audio played over the SiriusXM airwaves to be mixed properly using each member soundboard which should provide the best sound quality. And if Axl shits the bed on it with any Mickey Mouse shrill, I really don't see how it doesn't make for relentless banter if he sounds anything like he has on the most recent leg of the tour.

If there's one show he really needs to bring his A-game it's this one. If he has an A-game left, I guess we'll see. I for one certainly hope so I would hate for this to be his last Legacy moment if it doesn't go well.

Yes, I agree that it probably would have been better with a different arrangement (although it has improved in the last few shows). I don't know though if they play it as it is because it was the easy way for Axl to do it (as it requires more effort from him to use two voices like he does now) or out of laziness;I think it's due to Axl's idea of being respectful. And, in general (with few exceptions) GnR haven't been bold with covers.

We don't know if he rehearsed BHS only that day though or he had started before they left for Ireland. Prince passed the day before Coachella 2 iirc, so they didn't even have one day to rehearse.

At this point rehearsing doesn't matter. He still sounds like shit after singing it multiple times.
