  1. I have to disagree with all the Metallica live love there getting here. I saw them for the first time on the MOP tour when they opened for Ozzy, and saw them three more times several years after that. Hetfield was a shell of the singer he used to be. To the point where Newstead was singing the majority of the KIA and RTL material. You'll never see someone sing Nightrain for Axl. Not knocking Hetfield, just stating what I saw. Metallica was very bit as sloppy as any other band just like old Guns. The current band blows both away as far as fewer mistakes. Especially if you remove DJ's standard, every show mistakes, like certain parts of TIL. And as far as Metallica blowing them off the stage on a nightly basis, well that's just not true. I was around 20/21 years old during that tour, and Metallica was more consistent, but when GNR was firing on all cylinders, Metallica couldn't touch them. But, GNR also had more poor shows than Metallica. Metallica was like a flatline. Same show every night, and while there was rarely a drop off in shows, there was also no "blow you away" type shows Guns could put up. And for whomever wants to argue about this, just remember, this is my opiniun. These were my two favorite bands at the time, (though Metallica was in steadt decline for me after the release of AJFA) so I did pay a lot of attention.

  2. It was a big deal because it was shocking. Plain and simple. It was shocking because at that time, you either had long hair or you didnt. and if you did you were this nd that, and if you didnt, it meant you were omething else. pretty stupid looking back on it. it was like your personalit was being profiled by the length of your hair. all of us that grew up on RTL and Masters, had had our hair long since grade school. now here we were 12/14 years later and they made a change no one was ready for. To that point I really think the only high profile single member of a rock band to have short hair was Phil Anselmo. And his was more of an unspiked Mohawk. But this was an entire rock band, and not just any band, it was Metallica. Imagine GNR taking the stage in 1996 and every member had a crew cut. It was just shockihg, that's why it was a big deal.

  3. Hypothetically If they re recorded AFD and the UYI's, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but this is never gonna happen. And id buy it If for nothing more than to hear the current band doing some studio recordings. And to hear the tweaks and subtle changes and progressions Axl's made to these songs over the years. I'd prefer anything new much, much more. But I'd buy the re records if they did it. But they never will.

  4. From a personal perspective, its just choosing between Axl and Freddie. If I take my personal opinion out of the discussion, then I'd say he's in the same area code as Plant, Mercury, Halford, Cornell, Hoon & Tyler. I would put Phil Anselmo and Eddie Veddar in the area code beneath them, but it's a close neighborhood. I know I'm forgetting someone right now, but these are the top 8 to me. With Phil and Eddie being 7 & 8, and the top six in no particular order. Axl had the power, the anger in his voice, and a soft side as well. His voice is clearly one of the most indistinguishable voices in music history. And also one of its most unique. As far as being a live performer, he's ahead of everyone I listed, with Mercury in second, and everyone one else quite a ways off from those two.

  5. The old band was the same. Sweet child o mine, to patience to perfect crime and garden of eden.

Garden Of Eden and Perfect Crime? Both awful songs.
First off, I really like GOE, but i do understand why you, and others may not care for it, since its an all over the place messy rock song with indecipherable lyrics. But Perfect Crime? I'll never understand how real hardcore fans, of which I know you are, as am I, don't like this song, I think it's awesome. But, it's all about personal preferences. I'm also in agreement that Goin Down has a real UYI feel to it, I think that's because it's very similar to the style of Izzy Stradlin. Mostly his solo stuff. But id be lieing if I said it doesn't give me a Dust N Bones , 14 Years, type feel to it as well.
  6. Reminds me alot of Izzy Stradlin type songs. His solo stuff. But with Axl doing the backing vocals it gives it a bit of a Dust & Bones feel to me, or when Gilbey Clarke covered Dead Flowers with Axl backing him up.

i heard an unfinished demo with lead guitar loud in the left channel and vocals sometimes low and solely in the right channel with rhythm, i mean... who wants to listen to an unfinished demo like that?

i prefer listening to released songs that are properly mixed, whether they are by gnr or a different band

The version I have isn't doing that....
The one with seperate channels is the original leak. The one where they are not separated and all of the sounds are in stereo has been remixed.
  7. Yes. But I do believe there are three distinct styles. The helium voice of which he seems to use when not feeling 100%, when he can't clearly hear himself thru the monitor mix, when he is just not into the show because fans have pissed him off and mostly when he is on a big tour, where he has multiple shows in a week. As if it must conserve/save his vocal chords so he's not rendered completely unable to preform the next gig. His powerful raspy live voice, of which seems is there at every show, but only pulled out for moments of songs, like the intro to WTTJ, or fuck off on ISE. And then there's his studio voice, of which I have no proof, other than the multis. But I do believe, in a studio, taking his time, recording one song at a time, he can do anything he wants his voice to do.

  8. He's locked in the vault along with CD2. With a bit of luck he'll get leaked too and can come and tell us what's in there and if it's worth the aggro.

Lol. That was a good one. Sad thing is, your probably right! Cryo-vacced in Axls vault with instructions of "only open if Axl run's completly out of ideas"

  9. The son of a bitch managed to suspend my NuGNR YouTube account. There were great videos, with more than 200 thousand views. Motherfucker.

That is disgraceful. You should contact youtube and make a complaint.

You really should Manets. That's fucked up. They owe your stuff back. It's at least worth a try.
  10. I hate to say it, but Axl is likely to be much, much bigger the year he dies, than he has been, and will be, from the year 2000 until the day it happens. Whats really sad is the FACT, theres only an extremly select few people who will benefit from his death. And it's also painfully obvious whom this is. I'm not saying this is some "master plan" here. Not at all. Nor am I implying these people don't truly care about Axl. But facts are facts. Only Team Brazil benefits from his passing. Especially if they have all the contents listed in Manets Vault. There will be a catechism of activity surrounding the death of Axl Rose, on a much grander scale than Cobains, for those of you that had to listen for hours on end, on evey rock radio station, MTV, news, ect, about what a great, amazing, gifted, talented tortured soul Kurt was. And the onslaught of Nirvana memerolbilia that went on for 5 years after. If all that great material is still locked away when he dies, my guess includes the equivalent to 3-4 records, at least, just based on the comments made by Axl and everyone else who would have a good idea to how much completed material he has locked away. My guess is this scenario would be unprecedented. I don't know this for a fact by any means, just stating what I am aware of. But I don't know of any rock icon of Axls fame and noteriety, that went the grave with this much material still unreleased.

Edit-Forgot about Prince, but I consider him a pop icon, not a rock icon. I know it's splitting hairs, but there is a difference to me.

  11. I may be dead before this album comes out and i just turned 40

    You and me both!

I dont think Ron is going to get what he wants, if he wants to stay in GNR i think he should be prepared to be disappointed. IF this next album consists of material that is largely from the CD sessions do you think he would be willing to wait potentially years to release completely fresh GNR music. Cause yes, I believe we may get a new album by 2015... but... I dont necessarily believe it will be all new music. (and by new I mean written in the last 4 years)

That's the shitty part. If the label would have released the record Axl gave them in 2010 , in say 2011, its completely feasible that the next record would be recorded, near ready for release, and feature Ron and the rest of the current band.

  12. The page being pulled from Reverb Nation is a definitive answer for me as to the speculation on whether it was really Izzy or not. I thought all along it was not, and stated as much. But the Facebook posting and the whole Izzy's Army thing seeming legitimate, had me not 100% certain. I am know. And thank god. I had a hard time believing Izzy would sit there thru so many asinine questions, and refer to Axl as his "closest friend" with whom speaks with every week. I called bullshit on that alone!

  13. It's a remix. That's all it ever was. It was told to us quite a while back, its just a remix, with Axl singing the same thing over and over again. We were also told it was less than exciting. This is exactly what I expected. It's a remix.

But I do wonder, why know, why did the whole thing finally leak? Must be a reason.

  14. Marc & So Fine - Isn't it at least possible that due to Axl handing over a new cd of new music to UMG in 2010, could be a likely cause as to Axls lack of discussion regarding new music? I mean, how frustrating that must be. You state publicly that the next record will come out, and won't take another 10 years, your fans are going crazy begging fr new music, you hand in the new music to your record lable, and here it is three years later, and they've still not done anything with it. Would certainly give me the fuck it attitude.
