  1. While the 1 million first week sales would certainly be a big number, I think it's plausible.

I know a couple of people who are buying between 10-20 copies of the album to hand out friends, family, and others.

Others may be less zealous, but are still buying multiple copies. The GN'R fanbase will hopefully pick up the slack.

Many non-GN'R fans are interested in the album purely because of all the hype and mystery over the years, and

one would hope that Management has a good promotion plan formulated to generate interest of the casual crowds.

I identify a lot with the new songs and really hope that it succeeds. :)

  2. @EstrangedReality:

For the record, Body of Lies isn't getting *bad reviews*, just very few people have seen/reviewed the film yet. (I assume you are going off the Tomato-Meter?)

I've read a lot of reviews that praise the film and well, it's Ridley Scott and (The Departed writer) Bill Monaghan. Can't be bad.

Also Kingdom of Heaven as a theatrical release was crap, however I suggest you see the Directors Cut. It adds 50 minutes to the movie,

which really brings out the original promise and premise of the film. It's like if Chinese Democracy had to only be 5 tracks. It'd be incomplete. Same with KOH.

  3. Call me crazy, but after Billboard reported about the Best Buy/Wal-Mart Exclusive, then Bob Lefsetz said that he heard that the Best Buy deal is done, I'm beginning to take stock in 2008 release.

These reports only reaffirm this, yet I remain cautiously optimistic because well, it's GN'R and we've all been around the block before.

  4. His father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate probably told him. :-P

No but seriously, since when is an indie store owner a source of information?

Last I checked the same thing was reported by Bob Lefsetz, a reliable source in the music industry reported the same thing. Hmm, ironic.

And no offense, A4I, I don't see a 2008 release unless it's before "Black Friday" in November. Best Buy would certainly advertise the shit out of it (assuming that deal is done) and a lot of people buy random music during that time, so in all areas it's a smart business move to release it then.
