  1. Oh, you mean like the old band? But yeah, the "AFD tour" needs to stop and needs more UYI, Lies and CD. Especially UYI if the show is to be made more interesting.

Yeah. If they start playing the new songs and get serious about another record they'll be forced to play more UYI stuff as it fits better together. So we'll see.

  2. You are high off of your ass if you think this is a good idea.

They can play all the old songs they want, they just need to cycle the setlist regularly ala The Rolling Stones.

On a similar note, the songs that they do play regularly ala Jungle, Nightrain - you should mix up the way you play them. Bust out an acoustic version.

The players in this band have more than enough talent.

I'd rather take a sloppier show that's trying it's damnedest to please you that a "perfect" safe setlist that doesn't change that often.

  3. Of course Axl is going to say fuck-all about the album.

Good promotion for the tour though, if nothing else.

And to whomever rates DJ as the frontrunner guitarist in the band... please stop imbibing the marijuana leaf.

    Drugs are bad m'kay.

  4. GN'R Lies is what I call a "southwestern rock" album.

It's got a twinge of country to it. I always wanted a full album of that concept.

I'd love to see more of that from Axl.

Stripped down; band cohesion; let the songs stand on their own without all the bells and whistles and bullshit.

Same reason why "Sorry" and "This I Love" are the best songs on Chinese.

  5. No I jump on his back for several things:

    - Showing up fat (discipline)

    - His voice not being in shape (discipline; preparation)

    - Lack of rehearsals = band not on same page (preparation)

    - Playing same ol' stuff (dickish sense of entitlement)

This doesn't even mention other glaring issues the band has.

P.S. This is America you Obama-esque Nazi. Settle down and go get a girlfriend.

  6. I wouldn't say it's a "disaster" as much as it is a "disappointment".

We all know what Axl is capable of and that is greatness.

I can excuse the band's rust and Axl's so-so vocals at points (and some blame must be placed at the feet of the poor mix).

However there is no excuse for showing up a good 30 pounds overweight and playing the same setlist they did in 2009.

Fans shouldn't feel like it's some special honor that their favorite band is playing different songs. "Estranged" was great but it's one song. One.

I got more Chinese in 02 and I got awesome Buckethead solos to go along with it.

They had their biggest crowd in years, they were blowing up on Twitter and Facebook, but no new songs, nothing about new album, etc.

Just shows a lack of vision and foresight and systemic of poor management.

But credit for playing the gig and powering thought the rain.

  7. Just thought i'd throw this in randomly but Buckethead is, IN MY OPINION, the greatest guitarist in the history of the band. Absolutely unparalleled. Axl appears to think this, too!

Buckethead - Bumblefoot - Richard Fortus; now that would be some aural attack. I liked Robin Finck's look in early 2000's and he did some seriously good shit on ChiDem (ProTools???). Such a pity he could never back it up live

You have this bad ass band who sings about drugs sex and rock and roll and being badass motherfuckers afraid of nothing and he gets on stage with nunchakus and rubber chickens and his little get up to sell GNR songs to the public who remembers...the most dangerous band on earth.

Your whole post is fucking clown shoes.

The band isn't 20 anymore. Grow up. It hasn't been about "sex, drugs, and rock n' roll" in a long time.

And the whole "most dangerous band on earth" thing was no longer true when they started touring arenas...

Axl is an artist and GN'R is his outlet for creativity and artistic expression. Buckethead is an artist whose talent is unparalleled. You'd think that you'd put two and two together and realize they were perfect for each other (creatively speaking).

Instead of embracing him, you're ignorantly ripping the guy who wrote the backbone of "Chinese Democracy" and the songs you haven't heard yet. Real cute.

    Facepalm yourself.

  8. Robin made a profound contribution to the band on both "Chinese Democracy" and future records/songs.

His playing style is incredibly unique and very much missed. I can only describe his style as "drug addled tweaker".

It was a perfect contrast to Buckethead's sanguine perfection and both are missed terribly.

But knowing GNR "fans" they'll throw him under the bus just like they did/do with Slash and Bucket...
