  1. Great question.

I'd assume it has to deal with not wanting everything on the table for public consumption.

Connected to that is Axl's poor behavior coming to light, forcing him to take responsibility and being publicly accountable for his BS.

It's amazing how many internet-know-it-alls take themselves seriously' date='and actually believe they have the definative answer. [/quote']

    Stop white knighting.

Speculation and discussion is all we have, since we're not given a definitive or substantive answer.

  2. Axl has shown a lack of business savvy when it comes to the release of "Chinese Democracy" and future records.

I understand the record company not fulfilling it's end of the bargain and that's shitty but disappearing sans a Del James interview is not appropriate or professional.

That attitude and air of self-entitlement pisses on the efforts of everyone involved in the project.

He's no doubt a musical genius no one is arguing that but there are plenty of moments where he fucks up and doesn't care enough to clean up the mess and just bails.

I don't want it to become another stupid, childish Axl vs. Slash debate but you can't argue the fact that Slash was a fucking incredible PR man and him and Duff were always helping get the word out.

There's a line of whoreish self-promotionalism that I can see Axl deeply despises but that doesn't ignore the reality of the situation...The lack of promotion is/was inexcusable and like with hard question, Axl will undoubtedly blameshift and redirect when pressed on it.

  3. We've seen a trailer so far. Not just a trailer, but a trailer that's attached to Sherlock Holmes. OF COURSE IT LOOKS CAMPY! A campy trailer is how you sell a movie. I have high hopes for this one. All we've seen so far is Bane and 5sec of Catwoman. I think this movie has a lot to it that the trailer, prologue, etc. are keeping from us.

I reject your premise but no the campiness is systemic throughout the entire plot and movie.

E.G.: Exploding football field with horrid CG

E.G.: "A storm is coming" dialogue

Begins felt like a real reinvisioning of Batman. TDK felt like just another super hero movie. I often skip all of the scenes except for the ones with Ledger when I rewatch that film.

Just another super hero movie? Come on man. That's too extreme.

Can't accept the "just another super hero movie" line. I've seen a lot of them and they're not as thought-provoking or well done as this.

Joker was a cerebral villain who came off like he was just a "dog chasing cars", fooling everybody to fall right into his plan. And Ledger's performance as the Joker is one of the best performances of all time.

That and you have a Shakespearean level tragedy with the rise and fall of Harvey Dent. All in all, it was a complex crime drama under the veil of a superhero movie.

Batman Begins had slow competent pacing and was more down to earth than TDK but I enjoy the tonal change. They're two different movies with different themes, in different periods of time. It should feel different.

That's one of my biggest gripes about TDKR - it looks like they're picking a little from both movies instead of exploring new territory again.

  4. You know what would be EPIC (just for the fun of it!) - for this to be true and everyone thinks Axl is being all graceful n shit getting up with the old guys - they turn up - one by one Adler, Izzy, Duff and Slash do the usual boring thank you's then Axl takes the mic with a cheeky grin on his face and at the last minute goes into EPIC rant mode telling the truth about the break-up (his truth) and telling Slash to suck his dick or something - then a curtain drops at the other side of room were the current band EXPLODE into either Chinese Democracy/Shacklers/Scrapped - Axl joins them with his "performance of a lifetime" - they follow it with The General/Checkmate and then finish on Prostitute feat. special guest Buckethead - Axl then leaves the building immediately and isn't seen again until Rock In Rio 2021 with 7 new guys (well, 6 new guys + Dizzy).

You have a bright future writing fanfiction, my friend.

  5. Oh My God was released in 1999, when rock music, to some degree, still had a decent sized market, and Lady Gaga was still a dude.

The 200 or so people on this forum, to me at least, is not enough to bring back the biggest flop the band has ever released. Why take a second chance on something that already failed, when there's loads and loads of unheard songs just being hoarded? Why not just move forward with what's next? It just doesn't make any logical sense, even for Axl, to bring back a flop from 12 years ago to please maybe about 200 people in an 8000-10,000 crowd.

Respectfully, I think that's a poor and intellectually dishonest argument.

First examine context of the "Oh My God" release - it was the first release of the "new" Guns N' Roses. People we're expecting a badass rock song like a "Better" and they got an

experimental industrio-electric rant with all sorts of diverse elements. As much as I like the song it's a bad debut/comeback for your new lineup. In addition, it generally sounds like shit because

of the politics of it's release - it sounds like a demo because it is, etc. And the few times it was played live the band didn't do a good job performing it. Everything was working against it.

That being said I don't think it's going to become a breakout success or popular song - but there's a niche group of fans that love it.

I'm sure most Stones fans would rather hear "Start Me Up" than I don't know... "Sweet Virginia" but Mick and the boys still manage to play deeper cuts all the time.

They change it up regularly and you never know what you're going to get with them. It's exciting and each show feels special.

And I'd like to hear some of their new songs live too - but this is still the "Chinese Democracy tour" and "Oh My God" is a song released during that period so it's fitting they'd play it now if ever.

Axl said it's not taken that seriously but why not play it? What's there to lose by doing so?

Truth is that if you Treat people well and they will still stab you in the back.

To stay happy and sane you need to first get rid of people in your life that judge you out to others.

These people and supposed "fans" revel in unraveling your complex existance through their limited exposure-fuck em

I'm sorry that you feel that way about people stabbing you in the back. Sounds like you've been treated poorly by others and interjecting it into this conversation.

People do hurt you in life but if you don't put them in that position it isn't really real love it's surfacy/superficial friendship/lust/etc.

And there's a difference between people 'being real with you/calling you out on your BS but still supporting you'... and... 'being critical cynical asshole who judges you'.

But we're wandering too far off topic.

  6. Richard is good but he's no Ron fucking Thal. Buckethead is one of the baddest shredders in the business.

Forty can't noodle and shred like Bumble, no doubt, but Bumble can't jam like Rich either.

Fortus is certainly capable of being the lead guitarist for the band.

And lets just enjoy everyone and stop with the ranking shit.

  7. I fucking hate when people think that just because "Axl doesn't work for us" that means he can do whatever he wants without any repercussions.

If he wants to show up late - people are going to complain. They have work in the morning.

They can't just take a couple days off. Doesn't work like that in the real world. They have shit to get done.

The interview on TMS was complete bullshit he redirected and deflected the (legitimate) criticism of being late with a cute story.

If he wants to play same old songs on tour, less people will go to the shows.

Sure there are people who bitch endlessly but it's a legitimate complaint at times that the setlist could use some changes.

If he wants to use whatever excuse/reason for not releasing new material, then he can do that too -

don't be surprised if people build up some resentment.

He can't have his cake and eat it too.

Treat people well and you'll get good treatment back. Reciprocity. Golden rule.

It's in your best interest anyway so just do it even if it hurts.

fuck you for making me post this

  8. That's actually a pretty good idea. They should release the next album with a bonus cd of 5 covers or so.

Probably wouldn't release covers as a free bonus as the band has to pay royalties.

It'd be wise for them to do another "G N' R Lies" style record to fill in the gap between CD1 and CD2.

Throw Oh My God, Silkworms, and two other lower tier songs and sell it on the internet.

Too bad I'm not band manager I make too much fucking sense.

  9. Great post! But do you know for sure about songs like Soul Monster being industrial and Atlas Shrugged being more Achtung as you say?

Didn't say anything about either song just that they'd fit each respective cohesive record better as they fit together on the same shelf; those are bad descriptions for both songs.

  10. It's nice seeing Civil War later in the set. That's a better spot for it, since that and Estranged are two of the "big guns" from Use Your Illusion II and Estranged is played relatively early. Nice that they're split up more. Glad all those who went had a good time! I wish I could have seen Black Label Society open instead of The Pretty Reckless.

Speaking of, the setlist is begging for "Yesterdays" to be added.

Doubt it though. Vocal heavy song and seems to be in that range where Axl struggles nowadays.

  11. See like, what interest me is what the new record is, or will be.

I mean "Chinese Democracy" is essentially a sampler of... Chinese Democracy.

You could have made a more hard industrial alt-rock album with Chinese, Oh My God, Soul Monster, Seven, Shackler's, Silkworms, Rhiad what have you...

You could have made a softer Achtung style record with The Blues, Madagascar, Atlas, If The World, Catcher what have you...

Instead you kind of get a pseudo "Greatest Hits" album. I guess what I am saying is that Chinese is not a cohesive record.

There's no core theme like "Appetite" was 'the party record' or no consistent sound or tone like an "Exile" or something.

That's what I love about it though. It's an amalgam. It's a strange acid trip through the 60s, 70s, 90s, 00s, and today.

But you can't pigeon-hole it to those eras. It takes the best moments of those eras and updates them, adds something to it, etc.

All this rambling aside: do you do that same thing again? Same style? Same structure?

Probably. Axl seems to be unveiling his vision piece-by-piece instead of the puzzle itself.

    We'll see.
