  1. It seems that the late show, long concert formula has to do with the start time. The later the start time, the more control over the venue the band seems to have. The other night in Greenville, it seems that they could have hung around there all night, if they really wanted to, without receiving a fine from the city or additional charges from the arena. I'm sure they had to pay the tired workers who where hanging around waiting to clean the arena and start preparing it for WWE that was to occur the next day, but it's doubtful that major fines would have been imposed for performing late. Additionally, there was nothing for them to do on a Monday night in Greenville, SC.

I expect Atlanta to be no more than 2.5 hours in length because the show begins at 730pm and there are city ordinances in place that require a concert to end before 1130 or midnight.

  2. How was the attendance for this one?

Not sure exactly, but the floor was 1/2 full, the second deck (upper level) was mostly closed off, but i noticed a few fans sitting up high viewing from the right side of the stage. The lower bowl seats were about 3/4 full. There weren't many people there at all. Like I said in an earlier post, it was easy to get a beer, go to the bathroom, and move around on the concourses without much congestion.

  3. What a great show! Since the show ended at 2am and it took me 2 hours/ 20 minutes to drive back to the ATL, I'm tired today and had to still managed to come into the office.

I was proud to have caught a halloween packaged-size Kit-Kat bar thrown by the great one and it will forever remain in my freezer. What I liked about this show was that it wasn't that crowded. We had dinner at Sticky Fingers BBQ not too far from the arena and you could barely tell that the best rock show on the planet was about to go down a few blocks away.

It was easy to take a pee, easy to get a beer, easy to go smoke, lots of hot, slutty-looking girls in Halloween costumes, and best of all, there were a lot of people walking around stunned that Axl actually sounded great! hahaha. This is something that we all know, but to the average person who bought a ticket, they formed an opion based on the shit press that Axl gets. I'm a believer that while the press hurts ticket sales, it boosts the positvie reception in this band's wake after they leave. People will be buzzing about how amazing Axl and this band sounds because they definitely were on the concourse and in the smoking area.

It was amazing at the end of the night when there were less than 1,000 people still at the show because you felt like you were attending your own private concert. With nothing to do on a Monday night in a dead city, Axl had nowhere to be but with us in an arena that allowed him to play as late as he pleased. It was the perfect formula for what turned out to be one of the best set-lists on this tour thus far. When there is nobody sitting near you and you're only 30 feet from the stage, you can tell that Axl's looking at you and judging your ability to rock and that's pretty cool.

I'll see you Atlanta concert-goers in the CNN Center food court at Goran's, where they have the best deal on beers 44oz for $7.00 ! I may also take my crew to Dantanna's before the show.

  4. I liked Hogan for making Wrestling as big as it was in the 80's, but I didn't like Hogan as a wrestler, and certainly think he has zero credibility when it comes to taste of any kind - in women (linda is/ was quite manly and probably on steroids too), cars, his fashion sense, and especially his choice of moves in the ring (boring). I certainly don't care about his opinions on music. Even his song, "Real American" was a shit song when you think about it. I like it for nostalgic reasons, but face it, Demolition (AX and SMASH) had a much better song that rocked the faces off everyone in the arena.

Fuck it, I dont care if anyone else likes Axl or not. The fact that people enjoy bashing him only makes me like him more.

  5. booked a room at the Centennial Inn about 5 minutes walking distance from Phillips for $116 w/ tax for a two bed room on Expedia. Anyone know any good preparty spots close by?

Dantanna's Surf & Turf is located inside the CNN Center, which is connected to Phillips Arena. It has good food and usually a good crowd when there are events at the arena. I know the owners and intend on requesting the play the appropriate music before the show.

  6. Brdgestone Arena it is... a friend of mine works for the Predators and has confirmed. Just another arena too big for them to sell out in America right now. I still wish they would have gone club/ small theater route in the soft market cities and then hit the arenas in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago (actually, how is Chicago selling this year), or the historically industrial cities where the hard-working people are born to rock and still appreciate Axl (places like Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cleveland and yes, St. Louis).

  7. I dont think this is a real set list. Instead, I think it is a list of every song this band is prepared to play together. Perhaps it represents a list of songs that the band sends to Axl as sort of a checklist of what they've learned together in their rehearsal space while Axl sits at home, takes pictures of Dijon, and listens to music other than his own. He calls out the songs he wants to sing in the monitors so at anytime he could request one of the songs listed and his band is ready to play it. He just has to be ready with the lyrics or be near a teleprompter and know when to come in. Tonight he wasn't prepared.

  8. The RNR Hall of Fame voters loved that performance if they took the opportunity to stay awake until 4am NYC time to watch the entire disaster. If they did, I'm not sure they would have watched it past Welcome to the Jungle. It felt like Axl tried to 'wing it' the entire evening and his nerves and lack of confidence in his vocals seemed to get the best of him. I hate the fact that Axl seems to blow his opportunities to prove to the American public that he's still great. As much as I want to think it's cool that Axl doesn't care what people think, I want him to get the respect in this country that I think he deserves. Tonight would have taken him a long way since people here are watching for a preview of what to expect when the tour makes landfall in Florida later in the month. I would like to see this band blow in like a badass rock n' roll hurricane but after tonight, I definitely have my doubts.

He just never really took flight and it was very painful to watch. Strangely enough, it seemed like Knocking on Heaven's Door was a vocal warm up exercise for him. His voice got better as the song progressed. Maybe he should have sung through it a few times before he took the stage. I didn't think Nightrain sounded that bad and like all of you, it was good to see Estranged and I too thought they did a nice job with it. The band sounded good in general. You could tell they were a little bummed that Axl had a bad night. They tried to carry him and cover for his mistakes as best as they could. Even the team working the soundboard tried to turn up the reverb like they did in 2002 to cover Axl's weak vocals. The crowd was enthusiastic and forgiving and rocked hard the entire show. Unfortunately for Axl, there's 'no one left to blame' as he reminded us over an over again during November Rain when he couldn't remember the words to the biggest song he ever wrote.

I go to bed this morning an extremely disappointed Guns N' Roses fan hoping that this tour becomes a success for the sake of all of the fans in the Americas, the former and current members of the band, and of course Axl himself. For those of you in other parts of the world, here's to hoping that Axl doesn't completely disappear for another 4-5 years because of tonight. It's tough being a fan of this band.

  9. I have no opinion whether or not this is real or fake. I would like to see them cut-out Live and Let Die and Knockin' on Heaven's Door (unless they play KOHD the way they played it during the run of the classic line-up). While I like both songs, they are covers and they occupy a lot of time that would make valuable room for.... ESTRANGED or something new.

  12. Everyone. I am going to start a new thread for tour hotel deal info. I'm working out room blocks with hotels covenient to the venues in Chicago, Dallas, Greenville, Orlando, Atlanta, and Minneapolis right now. Once contracted, you should be able to book online. I will send the links.

  13. Hi. I'm looking into setting up a room block for GNR fans at The Westin Peachtree Plaza downtown - room rate in the low 100's. It's a short walk from Philips Arena. First, I wanted to gauge interest.

Also, if any of you have tomorrow's pre-sale password, please send it to me.

  14. Loaded !!! There will be 4 songs per show where Duff will perform with GNR. Tommy doesn't mind and people won't bitch that its only Axl and a bunch of unfamiliar guys performing. This will happen in MIA, NYC, LAX, DFW, and ORD. My wishful prediction.

In real life, I dont give a shit who opens. It could be that keenan's room kid from youtube for all I care. I'm ready to see some shows without having to travel half way around the world to see my favorite band!!!
