  1. I would have admired Axl a lot more if he had actually done something with the fuckin name. If Axl had released three masterpieces now, which thump Slash's buttrock albums, you would be saying to yourself, ''oh well, I suppose Axl was GN'R after all''. Unfortunately, sitting twiddling on overdubs for ten years before finally becoming a Vegas band does not justify Axl's usurpation.

    This.

I've always liked Axl more than any other member, but the fact that he does NOTHING with the GnR name is making my blood boil.

Since the day I had internet, I started looking every info possible about what genious move he was about to do to make NuGnR relevant.

And he blew everything up. BH leaving, Finck leaving, CD 3 times postponed, tour cancelled, no CD promotion, no real CD tour after the release, no music video, still waiting for the follow-up...

Axl would get a lot less hatred from the general public if he had been releasing 3 or 4 albums between 99 & 2014.

I would have loved an Axl autobiography too. That would have been something released at least...

  2. The song itself is cool, but the lyrics ruined it.

Great riffs, stupid lyrics and poor song structure.

They should have hired an external songwriter to turn this into a real single-potential song.

When I was 14yo it was one of my favorite, then I understood the lyrics as I learned english at school... I quickly liked it a lot less.

  3. Lol what's up with RNDTH??

I love it, the bass intro is awesome, riffs are great, I always loved the lyrics and vocals are the kind of angry Axl I really like.

I don't think it's bad either. Especially in comparison with shit like Get in the Ring, So Fine, the Wings (!?!) cover that they actually made a single (!?!), KOHD and My World.

Get in the Ring starts great, but goes nowhere with the rant in the middle...

profanity only appeals to 12yo kids IMHO.

I hate So Fine... KOHD & LALD are boring and we've heard them a zillion times...

My World is not even a song...

  4. Who said that?

Nobody I guess. You like to make things up.

There ain't no sane "Axl fan" who hates Slash.

And I guess there ain't no "classic GnR fan" who hates Axl. (I hope, because if he does, he does not like GnR at all).

Only in #demented minds such a war exists.

As far as I'm concerned I like GnR since 94, and Slash has never been my favorite member, still I have all his solo albums, I love Snakepit and I respect him 100%. He does a great job in doing the music he seems to like writing/playing.

The war between Axl and Slash only exist in their respective hardcore fans' minds. pertaining such hatred is foolish and counter-productive.

Axl's being out of shape and not releasing music has nothing to do with this. There is no reason for a real GnR fan to HATE Axl or Slash.

  5. The ones I skip are:

    Shotgun Blues

    14 Years ( I know, I know, I just hate it)

    Dead Horse

    Coma (all over the place)

    You Aint the First

    Get in the Ring

    Garden of Eden

    Right Next Door to Hell

    My World

I like Coma but I find it way to long...

That's just my opinion, but it lacks the progressiveness that a 10 minutes long song should have.

  6. On another note did Myles ever comment on Axl ?

Well... he's in no position to do so to be honest.

Any bad comments towards Axl would destroy his image of the "2010's perfect rock singer".

That's just my opinion, but badmouthing Axl would be a very dumb move from him. I mean, he's also famous for singing Axl's song on a regular basis as well as "filling" for him during the RnR HOF fiasco. (by fiasco, I meant that it was not GnR)

  7. They toured unreleased ChiDem in 2002

==> OK I guess Axl had to present his new version of GnR and his vision

They toured unreleased CD in 2006

==> ChiDem was seemingly on the verge of being released and there was 1 new guy. Why not?

    They toured in 2009

==> ChiDem was released a few months prior; better too late than never.

    They toured again in 2011

    ==> Why?

    They toured UCAP afterwards

    ==> Why??????

They toured appetite for Democracy with less and less CD songs.

==> Fuck it... 12 years touring the same album. It's time to move on or your audience will move on by itself.

I don't care what he will sound like, release the album(s), get in shape and promote it.

I don't acre if he's more or less bloated, as long as he can sing the NEW songs (t)he(y) wrote!

  8. So it's come to this: stating that a cover band is superior to the actual band.

You know who is a stronger singer than Axl? Celine Dion. GNR should replace Axl with Celine. After all, she's more technically proficient, and that's all that matters, right?

What if you compare the classic band playing his song with the 2002 line-up playing all the ChiDem songs?

because the whole 12 years old "cover-band" point is getting pretty over-used. You can't use this point every time NuGnR is brought up.

  9. Maybe it's time that he realizes that he can't write Slash out of GNR. Give it up.

On an other hand, Activision could have used a Slash song if they really wanted to use Slash as a character.

Or they could use him the right way as the lead guitarist of the popular GNR songs that everyone remembers.

Okay, but that was kinda like advertising him as a part of GnR, which he wasn't at that time.

I'm not saying that it was ok or nok to hurt Axl's feeling, I'm saying that Slash wasn't a member of GnR anymore at that time. Advertising him as such is a lie. Did they advertise him as the current guitar player of GnR? I can't remember.

It's like saying his own material was probably not strong enough or appealling to justify portraying him otherwise than as a member of a band he left several years ago.

  10. Sorry if this has been discussed previously, but it seems like the case is over

I found that on GnRTruth. Worth discussing?

    http://gnrtruth.proboards.com/thread/2359/breaking-activision-appeals-case-over?page=1#scrollTo=51504

After filing an appeal on April 26, 2013, the Activision case is finally over. The case was voluntarily dismissed today, October 22, 2014, by Appellant Axl Rose on behalf of GNR.

The appeal was made after the trial court granted a summary judgment to Activision. Rose and GNR argued on appeal that the judge allowed Activision to make the same argument for summary judgement twice. After being denied the first summary judgement, the second one was granted. Making a motion for the same thing after being denied is not allowed, and thus Rose filed an appeal. Activision argued the argument made for the second motion was not the same, and in-fact, the second motion was made after Axl flip-flopped his own arguments.

  11. Dude, the solo and vocal outro to TWAT goes on for 3 minutes sing and playing the same lines. "I would do anything for you, there was a time" repeat 250x's

TWAT is good musically, but the weak vocals and cheesy crybaby lyrics ruined the song.
I love Axl's scream "I would do anything for yooooouuuuuuuhuuuuuhuuuhuuuuuhuuuuuuu" and the solo/outro of TWAT. Too me it's one of the best parts of CD and one of the best parts in a song post GNR of a member/former member.

The first 3 min are the weak link of it.

That doesn't effects the greatness of Slash's work with Anastasia and several other tunes since leaving Guns.

If a classy has to be a hit then there wasn't written any classic song by any member/former member since '91 maybe with the exception of Slither.

You're favorite part of the CD bores the shit out of me but agree no one's h afd a classic since the old band. Though I'd say slash's solo stuff gets a better reception lice than the CD stuff

Of course and it always will.

Slash is friend with everyone and is great at doing promo, interviews and press. You can't find a single journalist who hates Slash.

On the other hand Axl lives like a recluse, does not do any press, does not even promote his own record and is massively considered the one and only reason why classic GnR broke up.

It's not a criticism because doing good promo and pertaining good relation with the press is a huge part of a musician's job nowadays. And Slash does it very well, and he gets very good reviews and good treatments from magazines, blogs and press in general.

Let's be honest, 90% of the world is massively pro-Slash. Slash could record himself farting in an elevator and release it as a single, people would still say that it sounds better that Prostitute or Catcher in the Rhye.
