Seeing how Axl wanted (at that time...) to create something new and give GnR a new sound, it's not surprising that he did not go after die-hard Guns fans or Slash clones
I'm pretty sure DJ is a pretty big fan
BBF seems liek the guy who must have been a good fan, but not a die-hard one
4tus and Stinson grew up as punk-rock fans, 4tus becam interested in hard-rock later in his life
No idea about pitman or Frank
Dizzy, for sure
Anyway, it was a lose-lose situation for Axl. If he takes a Slash clone peopel would have shitted on him for that, so he took Buckethead and Finck, and people were shitting all over them becasue they were not Slash...

I even nailed 3.5 seconds of Estranged the other day, what's going on here?
I guess you were using full rasp while saying this
-
Mr Brownstone intro from every drummer since Steven's gone
KOHD, just stop playing that song
No Silkworms or OMG
Hogan ears from DJ and the stutter intro from WTTJ
-
Why not Dweezil Zappa?
Rock n' roll, great solo albums, technically flawless, great voice too...
-
Thi has me crying with laughter...
Looks like he's playing guitar with a freakin' leek...
My God, and with the lame hashtag... I love it!

I wonder what part of no Trickery you don't get.
When GnR says there will be No Trickery, expect none!

I prefer no trickery.
DAMNIT I WANTED TO SAY THIS!!!!

If the rumor of Duff and Izzy has any truth to it, what are the odds that they nudge Axl and say "seriously, we're one person away from making it the rock event of the decade, just fucking call him."
LOL
no chance
Duff even opened for NuGnR. That says a lot about his mindset on a reunion. Seeing how Axl conducts himself nowadays, I doubt Izzy would like to deal with that.

If the 3 of them play together, I really can see some odds of Duff and Izzy saying that. And then, in Residency vol.3, we will have Axl, Izzy, Duff and Steve Adler.

I have to say that since the residency started, the amount of trickery is pretty darn low (close to nihil)
As far as I'm concerned it's pretty clever marketing-wise

HAHAHAHA, this video is hilarious. I laugh every time. Oh and.... No trickery! Dizzy Reed disaster pt. 1.
Say whatever you want, but at least there is 22.5% rasp in his speech and he seems in a good mood.
And don't get me started on how less bloated he looks because he DOES!

Indeed, the itw is pretty depressing.
They still say the same shit all over, and we won't hear new music before Axl's Dead I guess...

On topic: Complete joke of a show.
How so? Were you there?
Nope, but they have the set-list and a couple of 25 seconds videos filmed from the audience on a cell-phone.

I don't know if it has been posted before, if yes, mods please delete
What can audiences expect to see during this residency?
Obviously we’re going to play the classics, and we’re going to do some Chinese Democracy stuff. I think we have a few more little surprises up our sleeves as well.
Is there any new Guns N’ Roses material in the works?
There’s a sh*tload of it. It’s there. It’s just a matter of—once it gets to a certain point, I’m not sure who’s going to make that decision, but there are songs that are done or close to being done that just need to be selected and grouped together and released. That’s where things are at with that.
What do you like to do when you’re in Vegas?
I definitely have my golf clubs with me, so I’ll be doing some of that. I like to get out to the Pinball Hall of Fame; that’s really cool. If my buddies in the Sin City Sinners are playing somewhere, I’ll probably go sit in with them.
What does Axl Rose do during all of his long breaks while other band members take solo spotlights?
I know when I’m doing my thing, he’s telling jokes in my in-ear monitors, trying to get me to crack a smile or break my concentration. It’s kind of a standoff, kind of a game. … I don’t have my eye on him. I don’t really know what he’s doing. But he is telling some killer jokes.

Maybe if they cry loud enough about the set-list, a reunion will happen
Anyway, the set-list is obviously the same and Ashba should just stop talking to the media about how unpredictable are the set-list FFS.
This won't help anyone.
I hope the audience liked the show

I hope they play November Rain and Paradise City #NoTrickery

Any, I have to say that GnR didn't lie. They told me on twitter chances were slim to get new songs, and I wasn't tricked : no new songs
-
This is probably the best thread of the universe.
I can't stop laughing.
Needs paints about MSL, Jarmo, reaction from Beta to going down being leaked...
-
the problem with fortus is that at the age of almost 50, he still hasn't done anything original in his entire career. he's a session musician, not an artist who can create songs. he plays what he's told to play, and that's it.
And he's very good at it.
This is not an insult. After all Gilby wasn't more than that.
I have shitloads of respect for guys who play very well.

LOLThen go ahead and watch a Slash show and call it GnR, watch an Adler's apettite show and call it GnR, watch a Duff show and call it GnR. Why not even a Velvet Revolver show?I can't believe how hard it is for some people just to enjoy what they have.
And if it happens that you're not enjoying it, just stop watching (and I'm not even commenting the fact that "watching" means for most of people here commenting snipets of songs recorded on cellphones and commenting set-lists consistencies)
I loved the old band, and I loved the 2001 band as well. They don't exist anymore and I still think both have wasted loads of opportunities to release great music. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it or give me any physical pain, nor will that said pain's gonna get relieved by spreading my butt-hurt feeling on a message board to be honest.
Hey Laparka, keep on supporting Axl's shit. He's doing really well.
I'm not supporting anything beyond reasonable. If they come to my place, I'll go see them and enjoy the show.
If they release an album, I'll buy it.
That does not mean that I'm not frustrated by the lack of new music or the fact that this band has done almost nothing since the break up of the original band.
-
It's definitely not a piece of paper either.I didn't know a band name was an honorary degree,

Cobain : sloppy, ugly sound, poor songwriting in my opinion
Perry and Slash are not bad, they are great guitar players, but overrated as far as I'm concerned.
Kirk Hammet sucks real hard.

All that because the management does not push Axl to actually release music...
Why do you think the management has got anything to do with the situation and that it isn't entirely Axl's decision?
because it's the management's job to push Axl to do something with GnR?
-
I've always been a strong supporter of the vision I thought Axl had of what Guns should be in the 2000's and 2010's
But :
- Letting Bucket go
- letting Fink go
- letting BBF go
All that because the management does not push Axl to actually release music...
Man that's driving me crazy...
I hope that if he leaves, it's for the better for him career-wise

Your favourite performance of Mr. Brownstone?

As much as I love Brain or even Frank, Mr Brwonstone is not the same without Steven's groove.
The intro drums pattern drives me crazy, and none of the other GnR drummers managed to duplicate that.
