Did any CDs get pressed in 1987 with the appetite banned cover or was it only LPs?
i see on eBay lots of Brazilian sellers selling appetite cd with banned cover.
Was there ever a first press CD with banned cover?

I couldn't find a set list. Can someone confirm they played The Seeker? Because it wouldn't be a GNR show without it.

1988 - 7th grade. To paint the picture. My parents wouldn't allow me or my brothers to watch MTV. Felt like the music and videos were bad. So, I didn't have a single cassette tape. I knew nothing about music.
Back to the 7th grade, there was two kids in school who were dating. They were the most popular kids in school. I was kind of a loner with a small handful of friends. The guy, his nick name was "Repeat" because he was older and kept failing grade 7. His girlfriend was a red head I thought was cute. Both Repeat and his girlfriend were die-hard GNR fans. They both wore leather jackets, blue jean jackets and both jackets were covered in GNR patches.
Repeat scared me because he was a "bad kid". Smoked outside of school. Just not someone I would mess with. But, again, his girlfriend was very cute I thought.
Since they liked GNR...I wanted to try and be more like them (stupid I know, but this was 7th grade). So, I borrowed AFD cassette from a friend.
Since music was not allowed in my house, I had to close my bedroom door and listen to AFD on a portable CD player at low volume. I even hid in the corner of my bed.
Jungle was intriguing, but when I heard the F word on Its so Easy...I was like WHOA!!!!. I had know idea cursing occured in music. I listened to the entire album straight through. Looked at the pics of the band members in the cassette booklet. I was hooked from that day on.
My favorite song at that time was My Michelle. It's since changed, but that was my very first favorite GNR song.
Side note: On July 27 I go to my first ever GNR show in Atlanta!!!!!!
Side note 2: My parents are great and not weird despite them not letting my brothers watch MTV. They are cool now and when 1991 rolled around and I made it known that I was listening to music, specifically GNR....my dad bought me USI II on cassette for my birthday.

I can't see how to edit the title so it doesn't mislead people. Not my intention. Just something I found and wanted to share.

I know the video is from 2008. Doesn't mean everyone has seen it. I know I am constantly searching for new stuff and I never saw this. And apparently some others haven't either who have commented.
To those who've already seen this and choose to point out it was uploaded in 2008, probably no need for you to comment. Hopefully to others who haven't seen it they will find it cool.

Interview with Duff and Steven in 1987. There are live concert clips of the band playing. Never seen this before, sharing in case it's something no one else has seen. Good close up of Axl near the end of the video.

Not expecting it, but would really love for Steven to break his silence and tell us what this night meant for him. So happy for the guy...the smiles and hugs say it all.

How many do you have and how did you get yours?

I'm 99.99% sure that is legit.
from what I can gather, there's a couple of guys who have a box fullo these bad boys
Good price you got it for too - I paid over double that a couple of years ago
I emailed the seller and he said he worked at the record label and got a box. I'm happy to finally have one!

There's a lot more than 30. Many of the Univeral sales reps were given boxes and boxes of them. The guy who put them on eBay years ago had at least 3 boxes. I'm certain there are a ton more, probably just hanging out in storage because whomever has them has no idea they'd actually be worth something.
Thanks, It's always kind of neat having something rare. But, at the end of the day, I'm just a die hard fan. Fan since 1988. So, I won't keep mine sealed knowing the resale value isn't what it was at one time. I want to open it up and enjoy the album as Axl envisioned.
As a fan of the original lineup, I must admit I never grew warm to nuGNR. I always considered it an Axl Rose solo project despite the name GNR. And so, Chinese Democracy for me was a good album, but not anywhere close to the other albums. I'm not much of a music downloader...I enjoy the artwork and booklet. It makes the music "more" to me. And I was always disappointed with the original artwork in Chinese Democracy. Like, the band photos cropped from a concert was the work of amatuers. Hopefully the new album booklet will bring more life to the music for me.

Thanks everyone, I feel much more relieved hearing your comments and my own personal research. I just paid the guy.
The seller emailed me back and said " I was one of the lucky few at the record label to get my hands on them and save them. They weren t a big deal at the time, honestly. Not until years later. "
Does anyone have a guess of how many of these are floating around? I know the rumor was 30 at one time, but I know thats way off.

There was a guy a while ago who found a whole case of them and sold a number of them on eBay - that itself is no reason to be suspicious. I'm not sure if it's the same guy or not, but who's to say someone else hasn't found a whole case as well? We still don't know exactly how many are out there, but we do know there are far more than originally thought.
Thanks, I sent the seller a message asking how he had so many. He's sold 5 plus mine. Before I send him the money I want to be 100% sure.
I do feel positive though...Google searching brought up nothing for me.

Hi, I just won an ebay auction for the Chinese Democracy with red hand.
After winning, I noticed this seller has previously sold 4 or 5 copies. Is anyone aware of counterfit copies? Or am I just being paranoid now?

when they do the AFD reunion it will be for a shit ton of money.
Maybe when they set up these shows Steven and Izzy's stock wasn't high enough. But people always want more ways to feel special.
ITunes I want to see 100mil on the table for the AFD line up reunion record.
What if Rock in Rio wants the AFD line up for 3 nights? Guns in Rio. 20 mil a show.
This.
Think about it from a business standpoint.
Axl, Slash, Duff know they can make a major killing off of the original AFD five. The money they made off of Coachella and the rest of the shows will be peanuts. They could be holding out for the big pay day (like the iTunes or Rio examples above).

-While I agree about Duff maybe singing a better song, he definitely gets a better reaction singing something people know. I actually DIDN'T want Attitude this tour. I was just like "do something new. You have so many other better songs." And they started playing New Rose. And I LOVE New Rose! Saw it in Vegas, and you know what? It didn't sound that great. Night 2 I thought we were definitely in for the same, then he started Wrap Your Arms Around A Memory. And I'm like "wow, cool. At least its something different." Then it went into Attitude... and I fuckin' lost it. It was awesome. Definitely one of the highlights of the weekend for me. I was totally wrong. They kill that song too much for it not to be played and it is known as a "classic standby" for them that I'm now fine with it staying.
-Agree about minimizing Chinese songs, or deleting them completely, but you've got which ones wrong. Or more I think there's no way they drop the ones you said. They added a new intro to Better. That one has to be staying. And Chinese is the title track and maybe most known/straight ahead rock. I think those have way more chance of staying than TIL or Madagascar.
-Perfect Crime would be great and since they've played Coma I find it isn't as unrealistic as I would have thought. When did we hear they had rehearsed it? That sounds familiar but I don't remember when I heard that.
I agree about the intro to Attitude with You can't put your arms around a memory...that was a pretty awesome moment. And when I got to Atlanta to see them, it would be cool to hear it.
Yeah, I don't think Axl will drop the songs I mentioned, only that I wish he would :-) Slash's solo on TIL is too amazing to me for that song to be dropped though.
Perfect Crime was shown once as a potential song GNR posted online...it was like a setlist and at the bottom I think it said "alt songs" and listed PC and Nice Boys and a few others.
-
I predict the same setlist we saw in April. Unfortunately.
My wish list:
Drop the cover songs: LALD, KOHD, The Seeker. Replace with deep cut songs: Anything Goes, Don't Damn Me...I mean, freaking throw in Shadow of your love! I would think it would be fun to dust off those songs. And don't damn me has never been played so what a treat for die-hard fans if they played it.
I'd like Duff to replace Attiude or Raw Power with one of his solo songs like: Believe in me, Man in the Meadow, FU Beyond Belief
I'd like to minimize the chinese democracy songs to just 1 or 2. Keep This I Love and maybe Madagascar, but no need for Better or Chinese Democracy.
Axl is ready to play Perfect Crime. The ACDC tour proved to me the man can sing that song. Please play it!
I know Axl is happy these days, but I really miss the rants and stories in between songs. So, more talking by Axl.
I'm not adding a new song as part of my wish list because I just don't see that happening. But, yeah, like everyone, if they did, that would be awesome!!!

I made a two CDR of all the studio songs in order that's played in concert. So, I'll listen to the AC/DC songs in the order that Axl and the band play in the show.
-
I don't go to many concerts, so I'm not familiar with the best way to buy tickets. What's the best place to buy tickets? I don't want ground level or the far away bleachers...looking for something towards the center stage around the mid-level.
Is ticket master the best option?
-
I have a feeling if someone asked, they would get a very vague answer such as "we're focusing on the shows at the moment"
-
I think at this point it's a little unfair to judge this new GNR lineup as not having chemistry. I think we need to wait for Axl to be out of the chair and fully mobile. The video clips from the Troubador clearly show an energized GNR band when Axl was able to move around.
As far AC/DC...I truly can't understand people not understanding this. Axl is playing with childhood heros...playing great songs he loves...he's like a kid in a candy store, enjoying these gigs. It is what it is. I imagine if the Rolling Stones needed Axl to fill in for Mick Jagger, you'd see the same passion (I know the Stones would never go the AC/DC route, it's just an example).
As for Axl being bored with GNR songs, that's a bunch of BS. Axl is going to sing the songs HE wants to sing. GNR have tons of songs they could spice up Axl's interest (if that was the case). Anything Goes, Don't Damn Me, Back Off Bitch, The Garden, Pretty Tied Up...etc...etc...etc

Can't believe the negativity to this news...
1. It's 12 shows in May/June. 10 shows later in the Fall. - This will keep Axl's vocals strong for the GNR shows. He's not going to blow out his voice.
2. People saying this will interfere with a new album. - An album would either happen or not happen if the band wanted it to. A few ACDC shows wouldn't change that. If they never release new music, it's not because of a few ACDC shows.
3. New bootlegs with Axl singing a bunch of kick ass songs. I can't believe more people are stoked over this!
I'm going to see GNR in Atlanta on July 27 and I'm expected a very strong Axl performance because his voice will be in good shape.

Appetite banned cover
in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
Posted
It sounds like it was never originally released on CD with banned cover but has always been the cross tatoo.
