Izzy also played four dates (with Duff) in Japan in 2000, in support of Ride On, bringing that total to eighty solo shows. There are also guest appearances, with Aerosmith (1994; 2012), Snakepit ('95), Adler (03; 07 - Key Club 'reunion' with Duff), Velvet Revolver (three times in 2004) and Guns N' Roses (twenty-three times, 2006; six times, 2012), et al.

23 times with GNR, that's why it's not so special for him to be a special guest.  I'm sure Axl was indifferent about Izzy staying or going (remember he had said Izzy went behind his back to get more money on the European tour, but he still had him back as a guest) , Duff probably tried to talk him into taking less but not if Duff was going to give up a large sum of money just to have him on stage for a few songs.

Izzy will be back...if the price is right.

  2. I could see Izzy going "how much is that girl (Melissa) getting...hell no I'm not getting less than she is, and I'm definitely not getting less than Dizzy's getting". He probably knows how much Mick Taylor was paid by the Stones and wanted to be paid accordingly.

Duff brought a lot to the songs, maybe not to what Flea brings to the Chili Peppers, but he's not just a rhythmic bass player plonking away keeping in line with the drummer.

  3. The road crew was Neil Aspinall (archive interviews in the documentary, probably from Anthology/Directors Cut) and Mal Evans (who died 40 years ago), and Brian their manager. That was it. Then they had to rely on cops and security in each city.

A band playing Sunday brunch has more help than these "lads" did. And when they weren't recording, they were in the studio. Making movies had to have felt like a vacation to them, esp. Help! and Magical Mystery Tour.

Apple had been trying to figure out how to get the Hollywood Bowl album reissued, but I thought they were going to release Live at Shea Stadium, which probably will be the highlight of the documentary.

Ron Howard had also put the word out to people he was looking for fan footage and stories from them, as well as stuff that had surfaced since the Anthology came out. In some ways it's like Dylan's "No Direction Home" capturing "what the big deal was". Anthology was more of a journey from the creation to breakup.

I figured there were going to be more celeb interviews, but all I saw was Eddie Izzard, Whoopi Goldberg & Elvis Costello mentioned.

I was at the concert, amazing event. But I noticed Axl was constantly smiling, more talkative then usual seemed like he was having a great time. I think what you're mentioning has to do with the fact they're on a small stage and they probably aren't accustomed to moving around each other. I noticed on a couple occasiona they nearly had some collisions with eachother (Axl and Angus) after that Axl stuck to the back left (his right) for guitar heavy parts.

Axl's used to running around, but Bon and Brian never did that, plus there wasn't much rehearsal time to readjust.

  5. McCartney snubbed the Rock Hall because he had issues going on with Yoko and possibly George at the time and said he didn't want to do a phony reunion.

Rod Stewart laughed about Axl not going and he turned out to be a no show himself.

It was cool that GNR and RHCPs were inducted at the same time because they all grew up together but there's so many more bands out of LA that deserve to be inducted. Axl could have also named a bunch of his favorite bands that haven't been inducted as a reason not to go.

Steve Miller showed up and aired his grievances about it, which made him come off as cranky, but he said some of the same things (where does the money go). KISS bitched but took the award anyway.

Rich people can get anything they want.

But it's like celebs getting DUIs. Get a driver moron.

Why Prince doesn't have his own doctor to really tell him. But that didn't help MJ.

Some people want to die so they can be free.

Prince tried to maintain control but lost the battle. Larry Graham was someone he confided in but I could see Prince not discussing his health issues with him. Chanhassen is a small city that pretty much caters to the Mayo Clinic, the top doctors in the world go there.
