  1. I think it could still happen but it's going to be a residency or a private party. Izzy's always had an open invitation to join them as a special guest and he's taken them up on it many times. I think he's disappointed in Duff and Slash not pushing harder for him to be a part of it. It's always possible he'll pop up at a GNR gig, but who knows the last time any of them spoke to Izzy since the tour started. I'd love it if Izzy and Steven played the MSG and LA dates and the three decided to be generous and "take a shave" (pay cut)  so they could do the AFD lineup for a few nights. It's the end of the tour and for all we know, they might decide to disband GNR.

It's possible a lot of former members will be showing up as special guests, including Buckethead because of Melissa's connection, and mended that fence between Axl and Bucket. It would be fun to see Slash and Bucket on the same stage where they can bust out Shackler's Revenge as a one-off. Surprised Brain hasn't popped in though.

  2. I thought it was well-made and covered a lot of bases through their careers, the good and the bad.  They take it right up to the "Straight Outta Compton" biopic.

Surprised that Marilyn Manson wasn't a part of it but Dee Barnes and Diddy were interviewed. Dre talks about Detox but Iovine mentions nothing about Axl and Chinese Democracy was brought up (there's a blink and you miss it of Axl wearing the NWA ballcap), but it does show how they were preoccupied with making hits and collaborating on the label in the 2000s, GNR's remix album probably was Iovine's idea.

  3. Frampton Comes Alive and KISS Alive did well because the studio versions of the songs were a little flat and lifeless, but both albums were modeled on the Humble Pie "Performance" album.

KISS Alive was tweaked big time in the studio but Peter loves to brag that he didn't have to go in the studio and do his drums over.

Some live albums have mixed down, if not out, the audience.

  4. On 7/6/2017 at 5:39 PM, The Holographic Universe said:

I don't believe Izzy's heart is into GNR at all. I think he probably asked about money distribution and they said no and he said, "fuck you".  But, he never had any real interest. And, he hasn't said anything to the contrary. I love the guy, and I don't think he is playing the victim, but the band doesn't need him at all. VR and Chinese are good without Izzy.

He did say no, in a passive aggressive way. He asked for something he knew he wasn't going to receive to exclude him from the get-go.

GNR's likely to do another residency and small-ish UCAP shows in the future, and Izzy wanting a bigger piece of the pie would be fine for those gigs. I'm sure if it was up to Duff he'd prefer Sorum over Ferrer and want Izzy there, but he's not going to take a pay cut from these stadium tours to make it happen, with the time spent in rehearsing, crew, setlist debates, etc. However if they do a few nights at Hollywood Bowl and Izzy wants a payday, sure, why not. Just an opinion.

  5. They may have been working on new songs but Axl has to be the one to talk about new GNR music and when it's coming out. They're not going to need advance money when most of them have home studios and the way of making records has changed since ChiDem, plus the money made from this tour would more than cover it.

Gene and Ace were doing what Duff and Izzy have done for years.

Between what Axl had for "ChiDem II" and Slash and Duff had for VR with Kushner and Sorum is probably 3 CDs worth of music. Interscope isn't going to get in the way of a new GNR project this time, not the same people running it (side note, new documentary about Dre and Jimmy Iovine coming out, not sure if GNR's mentioned in it).
