I thought I had read that beyond that percentage of his income he has to pay, he still owes a flat ~140k per month in alimony/child support.

Aren't his kids over 18? In which case, he won't pay anything directly for child support now.

But $6m and $100k per month - to keep her. Fuck. How is divorce still so heavily biased. I got taken to the cleaners by my ex wife, so I can relate. I will never get married again.

They have to give consent to use their image and audio from their performance.  That could have been agreed to back when the shows were performed.  If not, then it would be needed before any release.

Agreed, but realistically, you've gotta assumed (hope) that any performances and anything recorded will be owned by Guns N' Rose the legal business entity. It isn't like the rest of the band were random performers who perhaps need to give consent if there wasn't a contract in place.

  3. I'd love to hear Taylor Momsen doing some GNR covers, but GNR having co-vocalists...fuck no. Just no. This seems like a massive overreaction for something that most singers go through (assuming Axl's voice is a beat up and not finished with age).

If Axl can't sing the full set anymore, as the line-up is currently, then they need to call it a day and retire. And I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Axl would do. He wouldn't even entertain someone filling in on co-lead. It's a suggestion made by someone who seemingly has never understood how possessive Axl is over GNR.

Slash can't play anymore cause he noodled twice for 20 seconds on 1 song and it sucked, Axl can't sing anymore cause it doesn't sound as good as when he was in his 20's so they won't be able to pull big crowds after this leg of the tour.

In the meantime, tens of thousands of Gn'R fans probably had a blast last night and the band played almost a 3.5 hours show. Doom doom doom doom doom.

I haven't listened to Slash play in this tour tbh - hence my use of 'apparent'.

But seeing as you're overwhelmed with optimism, what do you think they can realistically achieve after this tour and what part of my statement about arenas, a festival or two, or called it a day was incorrect? It isn't like they have the back catalogue to tour endlessly like the Stones for example.

You probably feel offended by Slash and think he does this on purpose but I think he just plays what he feels and if he doesn't feel the song the result isn't always as you might wish it was.

I think everyone is looking far too deep in to this and dreaming up soap operas in their own head.

I'd say you're probably right. He plays what he kinda feels like, improvises on songs he didn't write, and often the end result is a bit of a car crash.

I think it's pretty clear that the band is more or less done. Can't see them pulling in crowds like this on another leg. It's going to be arenas, the odd festival or game over. And given Axl's voice and Slash's apparent inability to play guitar anymore, it's probably time they call it a day after this tour rolls through the US.

    Grow a beard Axl

Looks the best he has in years and yeah, tbh, a beard would suit him actually.

Guess the voice is totally gone now. He's in shape and still struggling big time vocally, so it isn't like we can clutch at the straw that he's just out of breathe. After seeing them in London next week I won't be likely to spend anything else seeing them. I can't watch the videos from this tour tbh. It's painful.

Might have something to do with this:

“4C4 Media, who filmed Guns N’ Roses’ first reunion show at the Troubadour in April 2016, is not happy with Guns N’ Roses. They said the band wouldn’t hire them to film at Dodger Stadium, and when the cheaper production people they hired screwed up, GNR wanted their help.

They wrote on Vimeo, “thank you…and then when the big money shows came around,,,they didn’t even take our calls and then agreed with tour promoters to use their in house people (always cheap) hired a company for Dodger Stadium who brought in a “FlyPac” to record the show. A FlyPac” is what news outlets use to do live shots from intentional distentions. Occasionally they are used as switchers for multi-camera shoots…3 cameras at most. (Dodger Stadium???? Three cameras..????) The Production company called me when they knew they were in trouble..,it was my time to not pick up the phone, Fuck them.”

GNR will own the video, having paid for it, and I'm sure contractually they are outright owners of the footage. I can't see not hiring the same people for another gig being the reason. It's more likely that GNR just don't want to release it yet.

Yes, it is safe. Ukraine is the only place in europe where there's a war. No signs showing that it will spread. Most bands are cancelling tours or shows in russia or ukraine. Otherwise I've seen nothing out of the ordinary regarding cancellations.

Regarding that some people won't let go of the pointless fearmongering regarding a virus: In Most of europe we've come to grips that we have to live with the virus, a New variant (if you're talking about BA 2, it's still omicron) won't change that. It's not 2020 anymore.

Saved me typing out exactly the same thing. So much bullshit getting fed to people about the 'state of Europe'. Apart from the inflation, which is affecting most of the Western World, large proportions of Europe are functioning close to pre-pandemic. Large events of 10k or more are going ahead daily. From 1 April England won't even have to self isolate legally.

  9. I wouldn't have any issues playing it to someone who could understand the inflammatory lyrics for the way in which they're used. The song stands up on its own as a good song, with certain lyrics excluded, but in terms of those lyrics, I think it's shows a very important shift in social awareness and acceptance.

I have very little doubt the lyrics are about Axl's firsthand experience of coming to LA from a small town, along with his small town mentality. I don't find the song inherently racist, homophobic, xenophobic, I find it highlights those prejudices.

The song was of its time. We've moved on since then. Clearly Axl has, and had done so probably before he even wrote that song.

Can't confirm, I think the audience knows what to expect on a SMKC show and they seem to enjoy it. Besides, they only played Nightrain on their last run but everyone looked pretty satisfied with that gig I went to.

Seem them 3 times and each time has been the same for me. Maybe I've been unlucky. Audience enjoys it, didn't say otherwise, bit seems sterile compared to most gigs. When Nightrain was played, the crowd went nuts.

  11. SMKC are great live, but the crowd is always DEAD. There's nothing enjoyable about stood with a few thousand other people just nodding along waiting for a GNR track.

GNR are decent for the most part. The fast pace of the songs last time I saw them annoyed me a little, and there are obviously the issues with Axl's voice & volume of effects you tend to hear live - but the song list encourages a great gig experience.

Tighter band & musically - Slash & Myles.

    Better Gig? GNR.

    Slash is terrified of Axl.

I mean, tbf, it's like handling 59yr old, damaged dynamite.

I still remember the comments Baz made about the album release suggestion and Axl kinda blowing up, very sarcastically and the phrase someone else made; "Axl is still a very combustable character" or something along those lines.

You get the feeling there's a limit to which they're willing to push. At the end of the day, Slash is making fucking millions of dollars, playing to huge crowds and churning out his own music with Myles. Why would he rock the boat?

There is an EP slated for release in February 2022 as far as I know. After that???? Maybe the album in 2023.

If there's an EP, I really don't foresee a full album release coming at all. If, after all this time, they only have enough for an EP, then they're spent.

If, however, an EP dropped now to cover the lull in activity and an album was slated for release around the time the European tour started, then this would perhaps make more sense.

Most people attending GNR concerts post-2015 just don't know or care about Chinese Democracy or any leaked tracks, at least enough to know their names. In 2017, a lot of people asked me and others about This I Love, because they liked it and the song was essentially the talk of the crowd as people were leaving.

Agreed. A mate of mine who described himself as a 'Guns fan' wasn't aware ChiDem even existed. He gave it a listen and loved it. The promotion around it was dire really.

It's all a guessing game really. Imagine this thread about absurd, we have no idea how they operate and everything seems random, no game plan.

It'll most likely drop at a random gig when we least expect it. Then another midnight release. Essentially, when axl feels like it.

I suspect it’ll be when they’re ready for another single to drop. A few bands have gone back to a singles before the album model recently. I’d guess 6-8 weeks after Absurd if that’s their plan.

If you’re correct about when Axl feels like it, or the contractual obligation theory was correct, it’s anyone’s guess.

Nobody saying Youtube videos lie, you just hear the voice differently when you're there. And that's a fact.

When I last saw GNR in 2016 there were a shit tonne of effects on Axl's voice you clearly hear in the stadium, which aren't as obvious on video. You also don't have the audience around you on YouTube.
