the final cut is like no other album i ever heard. i played it on my record player in 1984, over and over ... i was already into the smack at that stage. i was 20 and lived alone in a one bedroom flat.. smoked bongs through the night as i lay on the lounge listening to these surreal songs.

i still have that album and whenever i listen to it, it still does the same crazy things to me even though i don't take drugs anymore. The gunner's dream particularly brings it all back, and i gotta agree with Scaramouche for pointing out not now john

Now this band is more about seeing the grand scheme, their music don't see the reality of life as of now or one moment, but the life on a very long term, kind of like the movie 2001: a space odyssey, this kind of music tries to go beyond expressing just one moment in your life or a couple of years, it's about life, space and the universe, but that's just what I feel when listening to it, and that's why I love that band yet at the same time I never found them being as great as GNR because GNR is about giving all you got on one moment. If I had to compare those band, Pink Floyd would be the moon and GNR would be a shooting star.

Mystic River is a great movie.

I can't stand Sean Penn, but he was absolutely perfect in this movie.

Saw the new Star Trek. Pretty decent summer action movie. I haven't seen the last couple movies of the series, not a real big fan . . . but this movie was pretty entertaining.

Idol is rigged to bring the second best singer to win, being #1 on idol means automatic failure after a few months of fame.

Being second leaves you many more options.

it is a SINGING competition.

well not entirely, cause i've heard the judges say repeatedly that a contestant needs to have something unique to bring to the competition aside from vocals. And while I agree Adam is unique.. and he can sing - I found that Kris was so much more relaxed on stage and I guess the voting public felt that too. He was easy to enjoy, whereas when Adam sang I was always on edge wondering if he was gonna fuck up a note here or there cause he put so much effort into it.

Kris is a talented guy, all round. Adam sings better of course. America is made up of all sorts of people. The second place getter often does better than the winner, at least over here they do. They usually get offered a recording contract anyhow, and then get to avoid all the hype whilst concentrating on their own style.. instead of 'Idol image'.

That was only the case for the first two idols... While Guy is somewhat successful, shannon outclassed him in, they have both dropped off the radar since. As for season two well that chick that won it... Casey Donavon if memory serves my right, well she was just a disaster. The only reason people voted for her over the runner who I can't remember, but was more successful; was because she is fat(honestly), sympathy. The other seasons i don't even know who won. All in all, the only success to come out of australian idol are the winner and runner up of season one but nothing memorable.

jessica mauboy (she was an idol winner though) has had several hits on the radio - with US rappers backing her up.

Casey had a beautiful voice.. her family trauma fucked it up for her. I can't recall who came second then either.

That guy last year who did Michael Jackson's Black & White.. I thought he would've done something good but never heard anything from him again.

Looks like he's having a resurgence among younger people these days. My son's been getting into him too. Bowie's yet another of the iconic artists spawned during the Golden Years (great song, funky). And don't forget it was us oldies who made sure his star never faded. Bowie's best years are gone, but luckily his legend lives on and young people like yourselves can enjoy him as we did.

yah they are all in great condition. I can post pictures tomorrow if you want. Shipping to Australia would be 15 bucks (us), it'd be cheaper but I would have to sip them in a box since there are 6 and int'l shipping has gon eup quite a bit I've noticed.
