  1. I agree PiL are post punk.. and so are XraySpex, Elvis Costello .. even Joan Armatrading (what the heck) But U2 are more like new romantic crossed with industrial pop. Having said that I chose achtung baby over ok computer only on sentimental reasons as i like both.

  2. Can't I put pictures in here? or can I just put pictures through an external website?

The boxes are not sealed, they are opened as 15 years ago I was curious to see the picture discs.

In fact, i'm selling my entire GNR collection, but there's not that much special in it.

just use an image hosting site such as photobucket or picoodle, whatever, and upload the links via the 'insert image' button on your posting toolbar.

  3. what a fucking great vibe .. wish i was in brasilia .. i shoulda bought a ticket and just gone over, why didn't I shock.gif ?

best place to see them, axl's gone come home grinning-smiley-002.gif

    [correction]

  4. enjoyed looking at all those road crew pics .. and yes, something eerily great about seeing guns n' roses sprayed on the cases, like it has quietly survived a huge journey or ordeal or something.

only axl's determination has kept the name going at all

The same here. I`m seriously thinking about to to buy a new cell phone tomorrow with a great camera (like sony erycson). But I need a cheaper one. I`m pissed!

Thinking about doing the same.No idea what to buy though.Anyone willing to get decent pictures from Sao Paulo should get cracking with suggestions lol

sony ericsson have the best cell phone cameras in their cybershot range.. [except the C903 which apparently has shutter lag]. C902 is the best but is now discontinued.. not much time to find old stock now shrugs.gif

  5. Stockdale sometimes almost sounds exactly like Plant (e.g. Woman). This and the "70's music LedZep/BlackSabbath - style - thing" could lead to the assumption that they try to ripp off their sound.

It's a thin line between ripping off the sound of a band or have them as a strong influence.

i agree, it is a thin line and i think stockdale sings like plant but it's not intentional. i think he just feels it that way and they are obviously influenced by that 70/80s style anyway. everyone is a product of what they love but some are just plain copycats with no soul believability.

  6. there's nothing like the feeling of being in a different country for the first time, and then you get that sort of intimacy as well .. quite tribal almost.

thanks for sharing it with us.

  7. GNR Melbourne 2006 (this was my first return to concert attendance (bows) - thank you Axl)

    Just missed: Offspring

surely you mean you saw them in 07 maxx?

I wish I had seen the killers, each time they come out I have somewhere else to be and you didn't miss the offspring tour last year if thats the tour you are referring to. They cancelled!

lol, ye '07 rolleyes.gif not very good at holding on to numbers tongue2.gif

I didn't know last year's offspring tour was cancelled, I thought they just came and went very quietly as they've done before. but I also missed the tour a couple years before that, I found out about it when I saw them on Rove show after they performed. I had the option of flying to Adelaide to see them, but it was last minute.. i literally had 2 days to go. In hindsight I should just have gone, and if it happened again I wouldn't hesitate.

i had front row seats next to the stage at the Killers show. It was their very last performance of a world tour, Brandon was pooped, but he put his all into it. I literally could see eye to eye with him from where I sat.

  8. i'm speechless (and a little jealous) about the sheer awesomeness of several previous lists huh.gif

As for me, if I remember rightly:

Glimpses of Peter Frampton as we camped outside the fenced-off area back in 78 or something

The Angels in Melbourne sometime back around 1980

-heaps of small local underground new wave and punk bands after that, including Aussie band the Models and Melbourne pioneer punks Depression-

Hunters & Collectors in the 80s in Melbourne

Nick Cave back in the 80s in Sydney

A Sydney band called Z around then too

Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls performed at the prison I was in (in 86) in Sydney

then I had a break due to my love affair with drugs and all that crap

GNR Melbourne 2006 (this was my first return to concert attendance (bows) - thank you Axl)

    The Killers 2007 Melbourne

Wolfmother last year at a small pub not far from here (real good gig)

Bushfire benefit gig in Melbourne last year - Paul Kelly, Midnight Oil, Jack Johnson, Wolfmother, Crowded House (& others, but all only several songs each)

    Pearl Jam 2009 Melbourne - a blast

AC/DC last month - Melbourne - pfft, what can I say!

Just missed: Offspring and The Cure due to my being remiss about dates.

  9. once, in a record store, i was browsing through all the Heart albums. I'd only ever heard one or two of their commercial songs before so the track titles meant nothing to me. I studied all the different album covers and bought the one i most related to. I can't say if my choice is better than the other albums (cause it's the only one i have) _ but in this instance the answer to your question is yes.

I doubt I would ever buy just any old album cause I liked the cover, unless it was particularly interesting. wink.gif

  10. "Crying, Waiting, Hoping" is one the best terrifically sad up tempo songs. Anyone else a big fan of this one?

really kool song, gotta bop to that one smiley-dance001.gifand his voice sounds iconic on it. i love the beat.
