  1. Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have met Axl and if so what is he like? Also, do you think Axl or GN'R would ever do any in store autographs at a record store? There is a cool record store on Sunset called Amoeba Music in LA that I know would love to have them.

I met Axl in early 2001. I was a blackjack dealer at Treasure Island. It was the first time Axl had ever been in that casino (he told me). He was alone, casually dressed, and very unassuming. He sat at my empty game, and at first, I wasn't even sure it was him. I asked if he wanted to track his play, so he gave up his I.D. He was soft spoken, didn't curse, or smoke, and drank Sprite. I got to spend 40 minutes with him until I went on break. During that time, he told me about the upcoming release of C.D., and the ensuing tour.

He'd told me about the picture of the bike with the huge basket on it that he was going to use on the album cover. In my mind, I thought it would be on the handlebars...oh well. He also told me about Buckethead signing his contract on the haunted house ride at Disney Land. He said the original title of the album was going to be Chinese Communism, or something like that, but then he thought that wouldn't work, and changed it to Chinese Democracy. He was excited about the song too.

I don't know why he felt so comfortable talking to me; at the time, I wasn't even a fan, which had to be obvious by the stupid questions I asked him; "Is your name really Axl?" lol He spoke about after the money was gone, the friends were gone, the women were gone, and he was starting over again, only this time alone; the original band was gone too.

Before that night, the only thing I knew of Axl Rose was the ugly picture VH1 had painted of him. The man I met was down to earth, and humble. "Nice boys don't play rock n roll," but, "I know you better! "

Good, Bad, or Ugly, I'm a Guns N Roses fan, and an even bigger Axl Rose fan.

you had an unusually intimate conversation with axl, going by your post. he probably did feel more comfortable with you because you weren't an obvious fan. [funny how we open up to service people we don't even know; such as yourself] Seeing as he was by himself he might have been keen for someone to talk with. thumbs up to you for keeping his trust and not divulging all the details here.

... @s for all you ppl hung up on urinal talk, aint it funny how you guys can lose all sense of focus when it comes to the subject of your danglers.

  2. if i knew they were comin i might have looked into going, but prolly too late now. not my fave band but i do like 'em and just about any good band is great live. geez you get out to a lot of shows m8

Ebay has tickets but you would obviously have to meet the scalpers in the city or pickup the tickets at their house

Because the concert dates are 24th, 25th, 26th

nah, working those days and while I would for some bands, i aint that motivated this time. have a good time anyhow.

  4. Ah, I think you just blew your campaign.

    That's not funny.

if you took my campaign seriously then you must not have a sense of humour.

regardless of whether your campaign was serious or not, your comment about erin was in bad taste. that sort of joking (if it was a joke) always hangs on a very thin line, which i've noticed you do sometimes cross.

  5. How is this possible? I've been informed by several members of mygnrforum.com that Axl and the current lineup are irrelevant and nobody outside of a few thousand nerds on the internet are interested.

Holy crap you're right!! This can't be right, more people are going to this concert than there are members on this forum...is everyone on mygnr going and bringing a friend?

didn't you know we are the only ones keeping guns alive shock.gif

to the other posters - you guys make the whole experience sound so awesome. i'd give anything to be there if you all are gonna sing ohmy.gif

  6. If it weren't for "internet" fans, Axl would have no fans, which are the ones that kept him with for the past 10 years, oh yeah those same Internet fans he is bitching about now.

And now that is convenient for Axl, he is using the Internet, go figure.

i guess he is referring to attitudes like this. just cause we are privvy to a lot of the facts and info on the band does not make us the most loyal.

  7. i know this is off topic, but i overheard a staff member at the ac/dc concert the other night saying it was also sold out for 63,000. i didn't even notice it. that many people and i was just another one moving about in the crowd.

enjoy the show.. of course you will! (hope guns come to australia. hope i get presale tix.)

  8. Look its not the real first guns n roses of course not, most people that are into the nu gnr are huge axl fans me included, but after recent events they are tons more credible and dj ashba is a huge fact on that along with axl regaining his voice so people will start viewing these guys in a positive light. My only wish is that axl and slash would just bury the hatchet once and for all, not a reunion just say fuck we made history so we can at least be civil to each other, ...

    this

The "new" lineup has poured their heart and soul on making CD and touring behind it.

Most of the "new" line-up had almost nothing to do with making the new cd in terms of writing credits. They are still just covering the work of the guys who left. Adding a few solos on top of previously finished songs here and there is nothing really.

    indeed

  9. I love both versions of GNR

Basically I believe the version from 1985-1991 is Guns N Roses and the version 1996-2010 is NEW GNR

I still love the new band the music is awesome

i'm just saying they aren't the same thing it's like calling lemonade and coke the same thing when clearly they are different

i never said they were the same thing. you have to understand, as a musician, you are ultimately a product of everything you take in. over this many years, that's going to be a lot of different shit. so the band is a living organism and it evolves, simple as that. When a baby rhino grows up, it's still a rhino. Why do people have this preconception that a band is a static thing that will fit neatly in a box? it makes no fucking sense. granted, music is deemed a product by society as a whole, but it's not fucking Colgate where you expect 100% tube to tube consistency. If the Beatles or Zeppelin had continued to release the same album over and over, they would've been boring and not had the impact they have had. case closed. next?

Yeah but 4/5 of the band left so they didn't evolve they were replaced so clearly different band ;)

bullshit. GN"R has been around a long time and have a legacy. So have the Yankees. Year after year, they trot out a new line-up, maybe win a title, maybe not. but it's still the yankees. now if we have to get all semantic on this, Axl owns the name. period. but I won't throw that card in because I can back my arguments up without it. You have a very, very limited perspective about music. probably about reality as well, but that's for another time. peace.

you're just changing the shape of the box so the peg will fit.. and you're condescending.

  10. at least he didnt bring back the biker shorts lol

now that i'd like to see; axl in white biker shorts again .. and the flannel shirt .. ha

    - he looks good in that second pic of BS' sig
