  1. I can see what you mean, but I will still hold that they are a great band, even though they are a technically more skilled band and aren't as rough as the others. Ten is a marvellous album.

i go along with SS here, but that Cannibals track was fucking great. i loved the heavy grinding guitars. i guess PJ and Nirvana were just so much more accessible than so many other underground grunge bands. at least here they were. But they became the best commercial alternative.. and i take pJ slightly ahead of Nirvana.

  2. i'll see if i can source where i got that info from.

did you know one of these sold on ebay a few days ago? i know that doesn't prove anything, but the timing couldn't be better for this topic.

http://cgi.ebay.com....e=STRK:MEDWX:IT it's even got the little badge on the top left corner (see image) -this it the booklet we're discussing isn't it?

    Edit source-

assuming we are discussing the same booklet, here is the post i referred to:

(apologies if you are all talking about something else)

    unreleased Chinese Democracy booklet

Sorry if I sound stoopid, assuming this is for real.. is this booklet some sort of leak? some sort of Best Buy limited edition? or simply a rejected idea?

It was a free pullout with Classic Rock magazine a couple of years back. I remember buying it at the time. I'll have that booklet lying around somewhere. It was a nice read at the time but there was nothing really in it that most of the more "in depth" fans wouldn't have already known.

  3. i think smoeone said the booklet was released as a Classic Rock Mag bonus at one stage

    Slash's album was, not GN'R's.

i never said the album was released, only the booklet. and as far as i heard it came out as part of a Classic Rock deal (i think) a few years ago. I only have a vague recollection of the post i read that detailed this, and i can't even be sure which forum it was on but it was only posted recently.

  4. maybe those behind the scenes are indeed planning to re-release the album with the better art and with more tracks, and they don't like anyone getting the jump on them.

well that would be all fine and dandy then

i don't get your smiley, sorry. i think i was having a shot at sarcasm in my post

... I just don't get why this band is so secretive over trivial matters ...

this is the point i was trying to make in my post ^

and btw: i don't know if anyone's mentioned it but one of these booklets just sold on ebay for 8 bucks or so here: http://cgi.ebay.com....e=STRK:MEDWX:IT

  5. being on these forums has screwed my brain. i like the guy who said it's easier when you're not on the forums and you can get on with your life.. and almost forget about expecting anything. but for some reason i feel connected to gn'r in spite of all the treason, and like everyone else i want to keep up with what's going on. i really don't like how people make excuses for the underhanded shit that goes down, and they also complain about 'whiners', when really they're whining just as much in return. basically I love the old music better than the new, but if the new was performed by its original writers- BH, Finck etc, then I would love it more. Authenticity wins hands down. No offense to the current musicians in this band, of which some are playing within the constraints of limitations. i'm sure it's not a case of them not wanting to do anything of their own originality. and i really hope that that's exactly what they're doing while we wait here with no news. at least that will make the waiting worth something. But it really does make being a fan kind of hurtful when you're treated like a juvenile in a detention home, begging for meager rations. The best news that could come out of this camp now would be getting told that BBF & DJ & Axl etc have been in the studio and have a bunch of original material called ..... & ..... & "this" and "that" and more information ... and even better, some demos being officially released- oh wait, I'm dreaming. sorry.

  6. the people on their fan site also reflect what a quality band this is. the melbourne bootleg has been on in my car a lot lately & i gotta say yellow ledbetter really is a classy song (giventofly, you were right).

-i also have to mention how well pj do baba o'riley

  7. at the moment i'm hoping to get in on excess stock ticket pre-sales on the 25th to one of Eddie's SOLD OUT Melbourne shows. They just scheduled some Perth dates and are refunding all the Perth fans' interstate tickets. So, there won't be many, but I'm hoping to get the jump on 2 , cause I missed the original pre sale

  8. When I listen to Scraped I can't help but think of Manic Depression by Jimi... meets The Prodigy. I think they were pulling from a small group of 90s bands while thinking this is GNR.

.. or bucket's influence thrown in with an already eclectic mix of axl musical tastes

  9. "i seem to recognise your face" - that one but might misquote.

twat early guitars seems to have pj influence too but might be wrong. i thought that when listening to world wide suicide.

    The waiting drove me mad

You're finally here and I'm a mess .. how's that for an opener?

and... Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay

Were laid spread out before me, as her body once did

They have SO many good songs and most of them have meaning, both lyrically and emotionally.

~ to be honest i haven't been giving cd much time at all lately. But I have been noticing some guitar riffs in random songs that I swear could have been lifted directly from other known bands' material

I'm liking Nothing as it Seems right now, they do just enough to up the ante. What songs are those intros.

The guitars through much of Nothing as it Seems are pure Pink Floyd -Shine on you Crazy Diamond I'd say, and McReady outshines himself. I suspect Eddi is a huge fan too.

  10. Wholeheartedly agreed. I really really can't put a finger on one favourite of all time. Well, maybe to me, most of the time it has been "Oceans" but right now it is "Tremor Christ" or "Inside Job", so... :shrugs:

right now it's corduroy for me, but inside job has a haunting beautiful intro

  12. Why is the cover bad? Cause he's shirtless?

personally i didn't like the crow feathers, but that's just me. i thought the rest of the cover was compelling enough without them. it just struck me as a bit too try-hard, coming from a design point of view.

has anyone heard of a musician playing in an opener, as well the headliners, on the night. that sounds wrong to me... and how would axl be with that anyway? i doubt the tours will coincide.

and yes, that cover is crap

Nikki Sixx did it on the first Crue Fest. Sixx AM was one of the openers.

it would be hard to do an entire tour, like a world tour.

  13. is there even a 'best' pj song?

Yellow Ledbetter. Try to argue against that

no .. actually there's just so many: given to fly, rearviewmirror, black, daughter, wishlist, the point i'm trying to make is I can listen to almost each of their songs and feel as moved as the one before. whenever i think this is the 'best' song, the next day i feel that way about another. sorry. i've actually been listening to the melbourne Oz concert bootleg these last days, so i'm gonna pay particular attention in light of this thread and let you know which one came up trumps for me.

how there songs start remind me of street of dreams. just straight in there.

i agree, i really like that about sod too. interesting melodies off the bat, and great lyrical arrangement

  14. is there even a 'best' pj song? having said that, i think vitalogy is my fave album. PJ songs have a habit of coming alive as they are played, that's what makes them all so good.
