Guess what Duff said could be perceived as some critique of GnR’s (Axl’s) way of doing things?
I didn't really see it as a critique of GnR. I think that was mainly more a testament to how good of a drummer/songwriter Chad Smith is and how well they meshed-- In spite of Ozzy's people giving them such a tight deadline.
Obviously no overt mentions of a new album, but my takeaways from the interview re: new material was that Slash & Duff are aware of "dropping" singles before the album is completed (as he mentioned Ozzy did)
Duff wanted to discuss upcoming GnR stuff but wasn't sure of what was announced already.
And Duff did say they were going to begin rehearsing later that day (for Miami)-- Another good sign.

I don't see a thread about it-- Mods can merge or whatever

Just saw an ad on the FOX broadcast of Seahawks vs Packers for a February 1st highlights show of the Super Bowl Music Fest.
I can't find any further info online, but they advertised Guns N' Roses, Maroon 5, etc.
Looks like we'll get a little national broadcast pro-shot snippet.
Perhaps a song or two.

My World is vicious & brilliant and stylistically should have been the direction they went for the mid 90s.

So the two solo records he put out in the late 90s were recorded before he had left the band in 1992? I vaguely recall hearing that he had only released those albums cause he needed drug money, so it wouldn’t surprise me if both of those records were just late 80s/ early 90s demos that he scrapped together.
I believe Niandra Lades was done concurrently while he was still in the group, in their Blood Sugar Sex Magic vintage. Smile From the Streets You Hold was released in 97, right about as he was hitting rock bottom and was a mix of all of the above, late 80's/90's to current at the time. Both albums went to drug money, but I remember hearing that post-addiction, he was embarrassed with Smile and pretty much tried to erase it from his discography.

As far as this news of John's return-- Probably the most exciting thing I've read on this forum since news of Duff's wife leaking the reunion in 2015, and of course all the Mygnr/CSI leading up to the Troubadour.
---
Just this morning I was reading an article about ataxia (the medical condition) which shares the name of John & Josh's old group.
This is such great news. Stadium Arcadium felt like the pinnacle of modern rock lead guitar work and a culmination of that iteration. I totally get John's not wanting to tour and be apart of the music biz scene-- So I'm With You was a welcomed change. They tried something fresh and it worked. Only saw them live once in 2017 in support of Dark Necessities, which I never listened to in full-- But Josh was very good, meshed well. More of a focus on ambiance though, as opposed to John's raw fire. Hearing Aeroplane live was cool w/ Josh-- I never realized that John didn't play the Navarro songs live-- But I'd be ok omitting those albums from the setlist, if it means the possibility of seeing Frusicante live with RHCP.
The potential for new music/album is so intriguing! Especially with all the electronic jazz Frusciante's been doing recently, he must have some repressed guitar driven songs that are waiting to be heard.

Whaaaaa?!?
There's been that many versions to leak over the years?

Fantastic idea. Hopefully they give her a spot to perform something similar to the haltime remixes with Brain.
Let her introduce the lesser known songs on tour. She'd sound amazing on the open of Eye On You.

So for the audio nerds- this massive change in quality is about bitrate? I don’t understand how these songs suddenly sound so much better....
I haven't heard these-- Not too keen on downloading but what's the difference in this versus what's been getting leaked a single song at a time?
Is it just the studio mix of the tracks that is better? Are they full 44.1khz CD quality files or still low quality mp3s?
Did this get leaked as a like a full zip of an album or singles of newer versions?

the message is from the leaker, not Axl.
Hahh!! Ok, I was ready to mark out.
On that note though, are we to assume this was leaked by the wannabe wrestler who shall remain nameless?
-
What the fuck?? Does he really reference kayfabe? This is brilliant lmao.
If these lyrics are real, one can gather Axl was kicking back in the late 90's watching the Monday Night Wars.
Didn't someone say one of the other instrumentals sounded like the Dudley Boy theme? Quicksong?

Has anybody with tickets noticed if they say "non-transferable"?
Curious if there's potential for another Black Keys fiasco, from buying on Stubhub?

Yeah I think they sold a certain amount of the $400 ones then when those ran out they started selling $495 ones. No difference in perks from what I can see.
That sounds like a class action lawsuit waiting to happen

Now I see it's gone up to $495 for early entry & merch? What the hell is that? Is Livenation modifying the price based on hits?
I don't see nightrain on there anymore

Just now, WhazUp said:So 400 bucks for the ability to get in early to spend more money on merch?
This is fucking crazy
At least it got me out of bed early.
Honestly the price was not as exorbitant as I feared it could be-- But that's still ridiculous, considering the short notice & the fact that the Citi exclusivity is fucking a lot of true fans.
Kind of a relief though, to not have to worry about shelling out even half of that, when Doakesdaddy's got bills due.

$400 for "early entry ticket merch & offer" on Livenation
Not sure what the Citi deal is, but I have been priced out.

Is any of this going to be filmed for PBS or is the festival different?

Any forum members in the "Citi" of Los Angeles going?
I'm interested in going, depending on GA prices-- However I'm not a Citibanker.
If you are going and are so inclined, PM me.

That's what I was wondering. For such a small, yet fantastic venue, it'd be sad if it doesn't sell out-- But the Citi thing cornered them into this. I wouldn't be surprised if regular tickets somehow became available at the last second

If you found someone with a citicard and persuaded them to go with you, maybe even paid for their ticket, they could do the purchasing. That would seem the easiest way to me.....
Seems like it!
Just now, RussTCB said:YEP. We've given them all sorts of cool ideas to do with Nightrain over the years and this is one of them. Sure, a certain amount of people would complain and be like "BUT I CAN'T MAKE IT TO LA!!!" but if things like this were offered, there'd be a LOT more members of Nightrain and they could easily fiill a lot of seats with members.
I was shocked at how many people from back east dropped everything and somehow made the immediate pilgrimage to the Tower records line, with zero confirmation of anything! Not everyone can do that-- Hell, there's no way I could have. But I like many others here specifically joined the Nightrain in those speculative days prior to April 1st, hoping that they would show their fans some love and AT LEAST give 'em some info or clues as to what was happening... Nonetheless the wishful thinking that they would actually have made tix to the Troubadour available to purchase for Nightrain members.
All we ended up actually getting from the Nightrain membership was presale "opportunities" to buy seats for the upcoming tour that turned out to be shittier spots/sections than what Ticketmaster made available to the general public!
Considering all of that and the unknown price that they will be charging (probably somewhere between the Apollo shows & their general over a grand pit tickets) -- The Nightrain is still a pretty tough sell, to have to shell out money for a membership so you can get a chance to buy tickets that may be unreasonably priced in the first place.

Yeah, that's a weird one. could you tap up a friend that has one? If I was remotely near LA (or even on that side of the world!) I'd feel the same as you. I'd love to go.
7 minutes ago, nycgunner said:I don’t think so. The fraud alert will likely prevent this purchase. I had this issue when trying to use my girlfriend’s Amex for a pre-sale on my Ticketmaster account.
Best bet is for your friend to register and by the tix for you. Hope that helps
It's tough to tell-- If a friend outright bought the ticket for someone else, I can't imagine they would ID everyone at the door to verify the name on the ticket with the person attending... But who knows.
Likewise, does anyone know if these Citi type tickets ever go to the re-sale market on like Stubhub? This is what I think they're trying to squash by doing it this way (aside from Citi & Livenation getting their kickbacks)
If a friend bought two tickets and you went with them, there surely couldn't be a problem. But by that same coin, if you showed up by yourself with someone else's ticket whether a friends or a re-sale/scalped -- I wonder if they have measures to block that.
I think the Chili Peppers and Metallica played Citi Exclusive shows at Palladium recently. Did anyone here go?

How much are they charging for this? My opinion of this being a 'cool thing to do' could be hugely altered by the ticket price......
Seconded--
Especially with the whole Citi exclusivity-- It's a little corporate but I know it's not just Gn'R, that's the way Palladium/ Citi/ LiveNation operate these days for big acts.
Regardless of price-- I'd be first in line to buy a ticket at the box office, as I did for the Troubadour show but the whole Citi card thing really complicates this and excludes a good portion of their local fanbase.

It's from a series by Kandinsky called "The Grenade Room".
He also had works and styles called "Gemism" and "China-ism".
All of the Chinese Democracy feature artwork from these series, e.g.: the centerfold from the Grenade cover C is from China-ism.
Yes, I don't have that one in appreciably high definition.
Anton Kandinsky has died since then! 2014. Wild.
That grenade and even the hand are so visually arresting, it does seem an odd choice to have gone with that subdued bicycle, but I've gotten used to it.
Whenever I go to the record store, I still look for the alternate covers though. Either one would be quite a find.

It was May's solo. It added to the vibe of the song, and then the layered synth didn't help.
I love Ron Thal. I will go to battle for that beautiful man any day of the week, but his solo killed Catcher.
I haven't heard this new catcher leak but I must be one of the few who prefer Ron's solo over Brian's. I've heard old versions with the Brian solo and it just seems uninspired and incohesive.
If I recall, May even stated his displeasure with his solo on the demo and stated what made it to tape was not what he played thru and was more or less a chop of different takes.
I love the overall piano warmth of the old demos, but I think Ron's solo just soars and is perfect for the album version, especially into the outtro.

Cause then that person would get suspended for 7 days, maybe?
I get that-- But the first post on the other thread had it. I don't know if they got suspended or not, but the mods allowed it to remain. So I'm just confused.

I'm surprised they went with Georgia Tech's stadium as opposed to the new Mercedes Stadium. It's cooler that they did though.
I stayed and worked right by there a few years ago. Ate Goodfellas pizza nearly everyday. It should be a beautiful night in ATL.
