  1. Watching Rusty annihilate his own logic to somehow argue Fortus makes sense in a GNR reunion but Gilby doesn't is really quite amusing.

    Actually he never said this.

All he's saying is both of them are equally unimportant for a reunion. But circumstances do open the door for Richard a little bit more since he's in the band for some time now and Axl trusts him.

If I had to choose one outside of Izzy it would be clearly Gilby, because to me it's more of a reunion with him. This guy played the UYI tour.

He said that Richard Fortus of all people would be the key compromise between Axl and Slash. I'm still in a state of shock over that one. Then he said Fortus is a more logical choice than Gilby for a GNR reunion tour, despite having no one to reunite with. All while saying Gilby wouldn't count due to being a "touring member" when the band was at their peak.

That's some serious mental gymnastics. Sure, we all hope that Izzy's involved if the reunion happen, but if he's not into it or whatever, Gilby's the next logical choice. You really have to bend your logic into a pretzel to say Fortus should get the nod based on anything other than "I like him!"

    1. Slash has wanted to play with Fortus in the past.

Slash has played or wanted to play with just about everybody. Moot point when we're talking about a GNR reunion.

    1. The reunion will be a large compromise between Axl and Slash
    2. Fortus is that compromise

Fortus *is* that compromise? Of the myriad of issues between Axl and Slash, how on earth do you place that much importance on Richard Fortus?

Gilby was Slash's guy and there was never a plan to write with him. Gilby was considered a touring replacement.

He was part of the band at their zenith. Touring replacement or not, you can sell him as part of "classic GNR". He was with the band when they were at their most visible.

. When speaking of which is logical, Fortus is more logical a choice as a replacement since according to some around here, without Izzy, it isn't a pure reunion. So again, neither Gilby or Fortus will hurt the label of reunion when BOTH are simply replacements.

Advocating for Fortus to be part of a reunion of a band he wasn't in is really tripping over your own logic here.

  2. He is a connection to the legitimate band and not associated with hacks

The legitimate band exists with or without him. Slash and Duff are the must haves. Izzy is the bonus. The public wouldn't give two shits about Gilby being there as some sort of "legitimate" member especially considering that he never achieved that position. He, like Ashba, were nothing more than touring members. That's the reality.

and roses and was appointed by a consensus with the band operating as a proper band, whereas there is nothing consensual about Axl's freak show. The partnership is completely relevant. Did you know that Guns were actually dissolved? A new band was created in their place which just so happens to carry the same name as the old band. Legally the band masquerading as Guns are not the same band as that which existed prior to 1995.

There was never a consensus on Gilby being a fulltime member before the dissolve. Gilby knew when the last show was played that his part was done.

"He brings a (false) sense of legitimacy" doesn't quite work either. Only diehards bickering over this would give a shit. Gilby's presence doesn't make or break anything! Therefore.... NOT important.

You're saying all this while arguing for Richard Fortus to be part of a GNR REUNION TOUR. Think about that.

I'm not arguing FOR any of them. I am simply saying that Gilby is no more important than Fortus in regards to a reunion. Neither Gilby or Fortus can make or break a "legitimate reunion."

How Fortus' name even gets mentioned as a candidate is beyond me. Gilby was at least in the band during the heyday, Fortus has the stench of the failed CD experiment on him. Why try to shoehorn him in to a GNR "reunion"? It literally makes no sense.

You can sell Gilby as part of "classic GNR", you can't with Fortus.

  4. Has anyone ever been on or waited on a plane? Do people think Axl can control erratic plane schedules? I've waited on quite a few planes to come in and they've been late every time. We already know there was bad weather in the area...weather bad enough to spawn tornadoes, apparently. Do you realize bad weather is a HUGE cause of flight delays?

But no, Axl is a god and can control flight schedules. E

EDIT: Also, Ron didn't put any blame on Axl in that video. He just said Axl was *almost* a no show, due to the plane being late. I'm not an Axl defender or a defender of anyone really. I just believe in looking at the facts and not making ANY assumptions based on those facts.

    He has a private jet.

  5. It's kind of sad that Axl and TB think the fans are the enemy, to be reviled, viewed with contempt and disdain.

First thing that Miser has written on the forum that I actually agree with.

Having said that I'm sure he's always getting requests from legitimate publications about GnR and if they don't get an answer

I want you to read that again. If Fernando doesn't answer legitimate publications, what the fuck is he for?

  6. Late to the party on this, but it is surprising. Figured Ashba would want to milk this cash cow a little longer.

Despite his ultra-douche persona, hard to hate on him. He got in, made apparently a bunch of money for very little work, leaves on his terms and gets to play in a band that actually makes music.

Plus, we're spared from hearing what a DJ Ashba-era GNR song sounds like. Everybody wins.

  7. I'm definitely for an guaranteed income. They've done pilot projects which were resounding successes. And before people cast it as some leftist hippy dippy idea, it was an idea proposed by both Richard Nixon and Bob Stanfield.

It'd take a massive rethink of the tax code and the way social services are delivered, but I don't think those things are a bad idea either.

  8. Let me ask this, what if Izzy, Duff and Axl decided to get together? Any pressure then, Slash?

That scenario really bears no relevance to a full-scale reunion. Axl is on good terms with Duff and with Izzy (Who it's probably safe to assume are on good terms with each other). I'd say the chances of the Axl/Izzy/Duff scenario happening at some point fall somewhere between "possible" and "likely". Slash doesn't even factor into the equation on any level because Axl doesn't seem to want to make amends with Slash. Slash wouldn't fall under any pressure if Axl/Izzy/Duff played together, because Slash has no say in whether he gets to play with Axl or not (At least the way things stand right now, that is). If that situation applies any pressure to anyone, it would be Axl since he is the one that holds all the keys, metaphorically speaking.

Nevermind that the other members wouldn't do a "GNR" reunion without Slash.

  9. I know I "hate" on Ashba a lot but I think he was in the wrong on this occasion. Most places say no smoking, that includes E-cigarettes. The correct non dick move is to apologise and stop blowing smoke vapour in peoples faces. Now we don't know the full story but I can imagine that we have a good idea how this all went down. "what you gonna do about it?" I'm gonna beat your ass, that's what I'm gonna do.

I don't get pleasure out of people getting beating on, but when the guy deserves it and acts like some sort of macho rockstar then he really has it coming! I would guess that the guy at the concert just wanted to listen to the music, and had no intention of fighting until he was provoked. They weren't exactly at a metal concert with a load of meat heads who are throwing punches in the pit, it sounded like salsa music :P

It's now illegal to use them indoors in Canada. Just like cigarettes. Pots still legal though

I'd usually be in a much better mood if that was the case.

  10. I think Axl wanted someone to write with. Slash said he wasn't interested in Axl's songs.

If Slash had got in with Axl and helped him out, then maybe Gilby wouldn't have been released.

Seems like they should have kept Gilby and Tobias. Done the Snakepit material as Slash wanted and Axl/Tobias material.

I also think that some of you guys give way too much credence to the idea that Slash flatly refused to play any of the songs that Axl brought to the table and that he flatly told Axl to shut up and sing and that he couldn't change one note of any of Slash's song ideas. I doubt it was that black and white.

Slash wouldn't let Axl suggest lyrics and melodies, but he would let Eric Dover. Sure, that passes the smell test.

  11. Tobias' legacy will be that he was forced in by Axl to a gig he couldn't handle over the objections of the rest of the people involved, which subsequently helped lead to the break-up of the band. He then played two shows before realizing that indeed, he was in over his head.

Sorum called him "Yoko", that's as good a label as any.

  12. Who says it's all up to Axl?

Izzy might be down to jump up on stage with these guys every once in a while, but he doesn't strike me as someone that would want to be a part of the level of attention that a reunion would bring. I know he's said he'd do it at one point, but would he really?

Not saying it won't happen someday, but I suspect Axl isn't the only remaining roadblock in the mix.

Good point. But does izzy really matter for a reunion? The answer for true fans is yes, but for the general public it's a hell no. They wouldn't make any less money if izzy wasn't there. Only thing that matters is Axl and slash

There is no GnR "reunion" without Izzy.... Dont kid youself...

I dont buy a ticket if Izzy isnt there.... Period....

    So that's *one*.

Like most people, I think it'd definitely be cooler if Izzy was there. But if it's Matt & Gilby instead of Steven & Izzy, the same amount of money gets made.
