  1. Subjective is subjective. Fine. Like whatever you want. But facts is facts. AFD was a cultural event that knocked the musical world for a loop. CD was a wet fart.

It's a good rock album. Just need to give it time and I'm sure it will be more appreciated. Plus it's only half an album really. It will be like a UYI thing hopefully in a few years, so it will be more complete with about 30 songs and not just 14 which are good anyway imo.

    Keep drinking that kool-aid!

  2. So 51 year old Razor Ruddock fought tonight in a local fight against a guy who I'm not convinced wasn't the janitor from my kid's daycare. He also needed a gift stoppage for a TKO in the 4th. At the end of the 3rd, he fell down from exhaustion and was saved by the bell. He proceeded to lay there for an inordinately long time.

The kicker is the commission that allowed this fight was the same one that wouldn't allow the UFC to announce match-ups without his express permission. While he was incommunicado on a 5 week boat trip. Needless to say, the UFC show was cancelled.

  3. Hello everyone.

Once again, this is Mke Mazzarone from AlternativeNation. I will do what I can to explain what happened. To those who have said that I knew GNR questions weren't allowed, that couldn't be further from the truth. When I booked this interview, I was never given a full fledged anything regarding topics being "off limits". I have also spoke to BBF's PR, numerous times, he had the chance, numerous times to explain to me that GNR questions were "off limits" and he failed to do so. I also, was never given the album by the PR and any further follow-up in an attempt to be able to listen to it was swiftly ignored. Once again, I do ask, how can I ask Bumblefoot about his new album, in any context when I was never given it? It's just not possible.

We asked a few soft ball questions, we asked about a potential tour and about AOA, not only was I told during the interview that he did not want to talk about GNR, which again was the first time I heard about that but he also seemed very hesistant about talking about Scott Weiland.

I did not question anything, I ran through what I had and I published everything in the correct context. I don't feel I was being "unprofessional" when I was given a limited amount of resources by BBF's publicist. I actually got an e-mail from BBF today and he apologized about the how he handled the awkwardness of the interview on his part and made sure that the PR sent over the album. So we will give it a proper review within the coming weeks. I will also note that had I gotten the album, like I was meant to then I would of asked more questions on it. However, I am not going to spend a majority of the interview asking questions about the album and his solo career. My goal is to ask the questions that the majority of music fans care about, and that is questions about Weiland and GNR. All softballs don't cut it. Had I had known that he wanted questions strictly about the solo album and nothing else, I most likely would never have booked this interview. It would be like talking to Mick Foley and not being able to discuss wrestling.

This is the first time that I've ever had such a massive crossing of the wires with any publicist. Whether it be sports, music,film/TV, anything and I believe any blame should be directed towards BBF's PR. Had I gotten the album ahead of time, I would of included a few extra questions. It's really as simple as that. However, this was an isolated event and should not be reflective of my work. I understand that with any interview comes the risk of criticism, however, all of my past interviews that I have done have been done in the upmost professional manner. Sometimes, you get a few rotten publicists that aren't the best at communication. That happens in my field. Rare, but it happens. After speaking to BBF today though, we are on good terms and it is all basically water under the bridge. He understands that what happened was a massive misunderstanding and not the fault of anyone but his publicist.

Hopefully you all can see that as well.

"Once again, I do ask, how can I ask Bumblefoot about his new album, in any context when I was never given it? It's just not possible."

Seriously? You couldn't think to ask about the songwriting, recording process, inspirations, favourite tracks, how the album compares to his other solo work, etc? You know, the standard stuff? Whining that you couldn't ask anything about the album because you weren't given a copy is garbage.

You went in dry and you didn't ask your subject about the project he's pushing. Again, day 1 shit. You may very well be a nice guy, but you completely botched this one. It happens.

  4. from the guy that conducted the interview:

Hey everyone. This is Mike Mazzarone and I was the one that conducted the interview.

I will do my best to really explain the situation here. When I confirmed regarding the interview with Ron, I was never, under any circumstance told by his publicist that anything was off limits. Therefore and logically we used questions regarding Scott Weiland, GNR, and more hot button topics. Softballs were included and we are going to do a full review of the album, however when I was told "Did you get the memo about no GNR questions", that was the first time I had heard such a thing. By Ron himself. I had many more questions that I was going to use and that wasn't useable because of that last second curveball. Ron never told me that it was due to legal issues or a gag order, he said that he just didn't want to discuss it. While he did answer the three parter, he even felt nervous about that.

I honestly put full blame on the publicist, however Ron was just as unprofessional about his handling over the phone about it. However, and I can't stress this enough, I was never told ONCE that any questions about Guns N' Roses were off limits.

Well, I truly believe that if you don't want me to ask something then that should laid out. The PR actually emailed me a second time, today saying that Bumblefoot contacted me on a wrong number, so he had multiple chances to e-mail me and state that "do not talk about this or that". To make it seem like it's common knowledge is insulting to me. Their PR never even e-mailed me the album when I requested for it, so I couldn't really ask anything about the album. I had sent follow ups or no avail so it would be something that I could not ask him anyway.

I am trying to get a digital copy for review purposes but I think all of you can understand that it would be impossible for me to ask questions on something that I don't really have any familiarity with. I stuck with what I did know and I don't see any fault in that. If anyone wants to single anyone out, blame their PR. Not me or AlternativeNation.

As someone who's conducted literally hundreds of interviews, the only one that was "unprofessional" was Mr. Mazzarone. I believe that he didn't know about not being able to ask GNR questions going in. I'm willing to buy that as an honest mistake on his part. But Ron answered his GNR questions even though he made it clear it wasn't an area he was comfortable talking about.

But Ron's doing a PR tour to support his solo album. This guy doesn't even bother to ask ONE question about it? Like I said earlier, that's day 1 shit. A far better option would have been to ask the solo album questions up front and then try to sneak in some GNR and Art of Anarchy stuff towards the end, even if he didn't know GNR was off limits. The way he did it was what we call "going in dry".

I do not know Mr. Mazzarone, but if this is reflective of his work then he's terrible at what he does.

  5. Do the Dead Daisies even have a lineup? Jesus... It seems there are constantly new singers, bassists, drummers, etc. Who is the core band?

I think Fortus, Dizzy and the Guitarist/Founding member, David Lowy are the core members. There have been a few different drummers/bassists.

I asked on Metal Sludge how this virtually unknown band could get on such high profile tours (Def Leppard/KISS, Bad Company) and afford to fly in private jets?! Someone said that this Lowy guy is a millionaire and is funding the operation. Either way I say good for Dizzy and Richard.I hope Corabi has joined as he deserves the chance to play for bigger audiences.

David Lowy is the son of Frank Lowy (founder of the Westfield group).

    Worth several billion. ;)

Richard knows how to follow the money.

  6. It was probably the first "happening" in history of art, that's why this fight between Cravan & Johnson is still remembered.

    That's silly.

Bit of trivia, British Tommys on the Western Front used to nickname a certain type of German shell, Jack Johnsons, because of their black colour.

    That's awesome.

  7. I doff my hat to you guys with the BBF story.

I just do not get how a up and coming guitarist, thrust into the limelight by joining one of the biggest bands in rock history, would become so disrespectful at the end of tenure with the band, if that is the case.

It sets a bad precedent for other bands wanting to take on up and coming guitarists.

Ever taken a job that was completely different than what you agreed to when you started? That's Ron's plight.

Also, are you really saying that Ron should stick with the gig no matter what on the million-to-one chance that another high-profile band looks at this wholly unique situation and says "well, i like guitarist X...but it didn't work out between BBF and Axl so...."?

Further to that point, has *any* musician had it held against them that they wound up not being able to work with Axl Rose?

    There's lots of silliness there.

  8. I never said former employees are prohibited from discussing the band. Never made that claim.

I said I know for a fact - unless Dizzy and Ron were lying to me in 2006, and I have zero reason to suspect they were - that Axl or management have imposed such restrictions on them in the past and Ron's new screed seems to suggest that he is still under the influence of similar. Anyone who doubts my story - I'm sure someone here besides me has Dizwald's contact - ask him yourself. Or ask Ron - we were supposed to sort out the shirt thing at the Njimegen '06 show.

    I believe you bro.

Was just wondering why Miser did not.

Because he's probably unaware that such clauses can have end dates and may even vary from contract to contract. Plus, it's Miser.

  9. Didn't they do Give me some reggae!!! during KOHD at this show? I seem to remember that. I can't put any performance of KOHD with reggae in the pantheon of performances. I hated it when they did that. 1988 Ritz KOHD FTW.

Agreed. They didn't have the reggae bit at the start of the UYI tour either. As time went on, the song got unnecessarily bloated and decidedly less cool. Pretty good analogy for the tour as a whole actually.

  10. HBO putting out a statement that they're not holding it up is the biggest sign they're holding it up. HBO would *like* it this year, but it does CBS/Showtime much more good. HBO know this, and want the terms to reflect that.

Either way, it's not Floyd ducking Manny. It's among the corporate heads.

Y'think so? Hey, you might be right for all i know, i just read shit off the internet and hear what people say. Just seems to me to be odd that, if that were the case, why would Floyd be banging on about Arum and why would Mannys end be banging on about Floyd not signing?

Ultimately, they're just pawns at this stage. I'm sure both Arum and Floyd are angling for things here an there, but it's mostly theatrics as they've pretty much agreed on the broad strokes. The ones that haven't are the networks. Kevin Iole did a nice bit here: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/boxing/hbo-sports---we-are-not-an-impediment--to-a-mayweather-pacquiao-fight-223904646.html

As far as this being a sign of Floyd not ducking, look at the previous six years, Floyds only been with Showtime for what, two years?

Permit me to rephrase: *This* time it's not Floyd ducking Manny. :)
