For my ears, and this is a total compliment, I'd have to go with Karen Carpenter. No rasp, but the style strikes me as comparable.

In the Sunday paper, there's a little "magazine" called USA Weekend. Back in January, they stated, along with Adele, Taylor Swift and Train, that there would be a new Guns n' Roses album this year. A joke, bad source, or what? Just thought it was odd.
