  1. Slash is basically saying his presence makes things very difficult for Axl, as so many people don't consider any version of Guns N' Roses legitimate without him. If he were to have disappeared completely after leaving the band, it might have made things easier for Axl — but he didn't. Slash chose to do the solo thing, remain visibile, and he's been a pop culture icon for more than twenty years. Even after a decade since his departure, he's still so deeply a part of Guns N' Roses. He's acknowledging how much that pisses off Axl, but he doesn't give much of a shit because he's "not going anywhere"..

i hope and pray, for your sake, that you're trolling.
  2. for once he gives a fair balanced view of axl, yes he isnt perfect but hey he is different to the pussy bands like kings of lean and arctic monkeys etc

You apparently have no taste in music. The last Kings of Leon album shits all over Chinese Democracy. I bet Axl would even admit that.

oh, you just made my day, thanks.

  3. You guys can mock Mick Wall all you want, but unlike most of us he had tons of access to the band during their heyday, and recorded hours and hours of interviews with them. Sure - he's been out of the loop for ages and ages, but the guy knows what he's talking about ...

y actually releasing Chinese Democracy, Axl will have ensured that this genuinely legendary album will now cease to be legendary at all and simply become "just another CD." A reading of the situation strongly backed up, I'd say, by the appearance this week of the first decidedly underwhelming single, the title track. Sounding, incidentally, identical to the bootleg version I've had for nearly three years which itself, it's said, probably dates back to the 2002 vintge version of the album.

Still, once the album is finally out of there, that will leave the way clear for the official reunion of the original band - or as many members of it as they would need to carry it off, i.e. Slash, Izzy, Duff and Axl.

Never happen? Don't bet against it. In fact, do yourself a favour and make a large bet it will while the odds are still ridiculously long.

    When?

Well, let's see. Give it two long dodgy years of cancellations, late-shows, no-shows, angry employee firings and band member leavings - that is, a normal GN'R world tour - then add another year of wound-licking and history-rewriting.... Suddenly it's 2012 and - hey presto! - the 25th anniversary of the release of Appetite For Destruction. Or the 20th anniversary of the release of the two Use Your Illusion albums. Whichever you fancy. Or both. Why the fuck not? Let's throw the whole caboodle out there, fight fans!

In the meantime, of course, Slash and co. could always do a Led Zep and simply get another singer in and go out playing original GN'R stuff and similar...

    http://mickwall.com/blog/blog.php

And what exactly was the point of posting a blog entry from a year and a half ago?

You're right. He's been out of the GN'R loop for a long time. He does not know what he's talking about. He's just making a guess on a GN'R reunion. And that guess is a year and a half old.

    Ali

He accurately predicted the late-shows (most of them) and cancellations (2009 tour that never happened), no-shows (surprise gig in Sao Paolo), and history re-writing (ongoing), so who's to say he'll be wrong about the reunion?

thats so fucking absurd, ANYONE could predict late and/or no shows on a GNR tour - rrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaach for those straws.
  4. i think of myself as middle of the line, maybe 60/40 in axl's favour(if we're forced to look at it on such terms) i really dont see how anyone can say that slash's solo album surpasses CD on a musical or artistic level, its so bland - the mixing is awful and i am having difficulty remembering one solo.

  5. Yeah, because Ozzy would really write a song about his former band FOR A FUCKING SLASH ALBUM WITH REFERENCES TO ROSES,ETC. Move along.

oh jesus, champ i dont care either way. i was just pointing out how absurd it was for you to be so matter of fact about it after only citing 'some sabbath fans'.

I'd recommend the art of reading between the lines. Obviously I referred to where the discussion was originally done in an effort to convey that you could find the actual conversations there.

    Objectivist my ass.

what is this i dont even

  6. on a similar note, slash's solo album is kinda uninspired =/ every solo just seems to blend together.

Yeah, because Ozzy would really write a song about his former band FOR A FUCKING SLASH ALBUM WITH REFERENCES TO ROSES,ETC. Move along.

  7. The lyrics could just as easily be interpreted from Ozzy's point of view against Black Sabbath.

Not according to some of the Sabbath fans who've discussed it in the Slash section.

oh well i guess that's definitive, some sabbath fans in the slash section say otherwise, end of discussion ty so much for playing.

  8. Gene Simmons is an ass.

    Ok Ok :rofl-lol::rofl-lol: :rofl-lol:

Kiss is one of the biggest bands in the world, they influenced countless bands and musicians, Kiss is a band of the same level of Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Sabbath

Sorry, but Kiss >>>> Guns

please be joking please be joking please be joking please be joking

  9. I think the fact that Appetite sold over 15 million in the time it took Chinese to sell a million, pretty much nails down the public opinion of both records. All the promotion in the world can't make it a better album than what it is. If people hear something and want to hear more, they will find it. You don't have to shove it down their throats. We will never know if the old line up could have produced an album that was any better, it might even have ended up worse for all we know.

For as much as I enjoy certain songs on Chinese, it can only be considered as a failure in comparison to the other studio albums. Its been the slowest selling, and will no doubt end up the lowest selling GNR studio record of all time. I don't buy all the 'downloading has killed it' crap. All you needed was a two deck tape recorder for the early albums!

Lets hope the next album can take GNR back up to where they should be. And for now, lets enjoy the tours.

oh please 15 million copies in a year? even if that were true, I BEG YOU to find an album released this side of 2000 that has sold 10 million copies in a year let alone 15 million( as you're claiming)

to compare the sales of appetite to chinese democracy in determining which album is 'better', is as absurd as your are stupid, and you're very fucking stupid.

Er, its on the Riaa (Recording Industry Association of America) official website. And Shania Twain also did it in 2003 with 'Up!' Now who is very fucking stupid?

15 million copies in the US since 1987, not from 1987-1988 jesus christ. oh grats you found one, guns n roses in the 21st century =/= shania twain's popularity and promotion. the fact that you no doubt scoured the internet for an album that sold 10 million since 2000 and managed to only find one, a country singer no less(country is one of the least effected by downloads), basically proves my point.

  11. it amazes me how consistently Gnr-dave makes me question his sanity. he and rancid punks ($$$xxgnrstarxxx676x6x0) need to get together and finally give their virginity to one another, before committing suicide romeo and juliet style.

  12. Wow. Didn't see that in my 2/10 forecast. Very unfortunate, madison. I think that Eric is making a huge mistake. But in a lot of ways, I think you are much better off.

I would like to go on record stating that I think this is a very poor decision, and one that will change this forum drastically for the worse.

On a somewhat more personal note, I've always been interested in collaborating with you. I'd like for you to consider bringbackgnr.com.

    It's coming Summer 2010 ...

    Starring: BBA, Madison, & "Guests"

Folks who have had involvement with this website's development have described the layout as "mind blowing" and "epic". Others have been quoted as saying, "It is unlike any other gnr site out there. This will be the mother of all GNR sites."

To say the making of this forum has been an unbearably long and incomprehensible journey would be an understatement. But people will see a forum this year.

i just cant work it out, i dont think this guy is even a gnr follower, hes just some legend who comes on a gnr site and posts these ultra hyperbolic, intensely serious anti-new band posts into order to play devils' advocate.

its a fascade of sincerity that hes having trouble maintaining, even he can't keep a straight face anymore.

  13. That fuckin' rocks! Seems like down there, it's 1991 again! Nice!

Yeah except this time they're all there to see Axl and nobody else.

Nag, nag nag... for god's sake stop being such a miserable stick in the mud and be happy that something good's happening!

    It's the truth.

I thought nobody other than a few thousand nerds on the GNR forums cared about Axl anymore

well vanilla ice is probaly still popular somewhere to.

selling out 65000 capacity stadiums hardly implies are 'niche' following, you fucking idiot.

    Oh moma, sick jacket

oh...UAU...he looks so COOL, totally HOT

(OHHHH SH*T, anyone felt that too??? OMG...the earth just shook over here (lisbon)....scary...I've to check this with my friends....see ya tomorrow (if I can), this is to much for 1 day.)

     nice 1 Di!!!

I love that picture, but is it just me or is something really "strange" about Axl's look these days?? I saw them twice in 2006. and cannot believe how a person could change so much in a few short years! It's crazy.Don't get me wrong, I think he looks great, just so damn different than last we saw, and no, it's NOT just the lack of braids. It's something, I just can't put my finger on it.Anybody have any thoughts? Hey, and we all know Axl has still got a head full of hair, but has he taken off the hat and bandanna for any of these past few shows?? That I'd like to see.

i know exactly what you mean, each time his look changes he feels like a totally different person, its weird.
  15. Here's a post from Metalsludge:

"Just talked to someone who attended this crap-fest. She said it was pretty much a waste of time. When the band was on they were pretty good, as was Bill - but there was so much shit in the mix that it just wasn't worth it. Plus no one drives here - everyone goes to Osaka Dome by train. Trains start stopping around 11pm, so simce Bill decided to go on so late half the crowd was streaming for the gates half way through the show. So glad I didn't attend this mess. Funny to think fat Bill is probably sleeping within a mile or two of where I'm sitting right now."

to the user on MS that posted this, FUCK OFF CUNT!

Just playing devil's advocate...alot of big cities do have mass transit that stops around eleven or twelve. I believe their was a similar problem when GNR played in London a few years ago if my memory is correct. Something Axl may want to consider, but he probably won't. I'd be pissed to if I payed alot of money to see one of my favorite bands and had to leave the show early to catch a ride home or be stranded.

Just another way he truly disrespects the fans - I don't care what bullshit reason he gives for going on at 11:45 PM (Boston '02, for example, which I went to). Fucking Metallica go on at 9 or 9:15 every night and end 2 hours later, kick ass set, great show, everyone leaves happy and wanting more. That's one way to show respect back to the fans for paying exhorbitant prices for tickets. That and playing full complete shows without interupption at venues ALL OVER THE WORLD.

but thats why metallica are boring and lame, fagfuck malone =)
