  1. it's not really that interesting.

I think firing your own mother is pretty interesting.

My point was that Axl probably fires/re-hires people in his entourage every other week, including band members.

I'm not so sure about firing his entourage/management/family. They seem to have some sort of hold on him, I don't think he could fire them, even if it was the kind of "You're FIRRRRRRREEEEDDDD" phone calls that Matt used to get in the day.

Now as for the band members, I'm with you. I imagine each member of the band has been fired at least once.

  2. Let's look at the psychology here:

    Axl is allegedly/possibly/probably bipolar.

Team Brazil is responsible for keeping Axl:

    1. Mentally safe

    2. Professionally safe

    3. Financially safe

Axl's mental health directly affects his professional development, which in turn affects his finances. It's easy to say as an outsider "Team Brazil is just in it for the money".

But if any parts of the above chain break down, they don't get any money.

Hence why we get stories of Axl agreeing to work with a producer, then soon after running over a pile of CD's with his car and firing the producer.

Keeping Axl in familiar territory (cash-grab tours) and not forcing him to write/record keeps the money coming in. It also keeps Team Brazil employed.

They upset the perpetual cash-grab touring in 2012 to try some new things (Internet PPV, 3D movie, web stream of Vegas show on Satellite Radio, etc) and probably got burned by Rockfuel's lawyers after Axl decided he didn't want the 3D movie released.

Axl is a liability to himself, and it's commendable that Team Brazil are able to keep him happy.

But perhaps that is coming to an end.

If you think GNR with Team Brazil is bad, imagine Axl running the entire show himself.

I think we're about to enter some weird times.

I never thought of it this way. I'm not saying I agree with this just yet, but this is certainly one of the better posts that shines a better looking light on Team Brazil.

  3. While watching Appetite for Democracy tonight I couldn't help but think about this thread. Go watch that concert, then tell me what bands can follow NUgnr? I think this thread needs revisiting upon viewing....

    None.

A Bloated Mickey Mouse still puts on the best show in the biz. NuGuns simply cannot be followed.

  4. A lot of flak thrown his way, but he's got tough skin.

I always did enjoy his posts, and I'll never forget when the whole "NGOG'd" thing started--one of my favorites moments on this forum.

It'll be hard to replace him.

  5. Yikes. He's saying he didn't promote his own god damn album because of the artwork?

If he were half the "auteur who needs no one else" he pretends to be, this wouldn't be the case.

Jesus Christ, fucking release an album man! Thousands of people do it every day, with precisely the artwork they want. It isn't that hard.

That gets to me too...does Axl think he is releasing music or visual art?!

  6. For fuck's sake, why the nitpicking of P4A's posts? Only this forum...

On topic, Axl and Matt, I imagine, are on the same terms that Axl and Gilby are on. They met up, talked, had a good time, (in Gilby's case, played a few songs), and will most likely never see each other again. Of course everyone is willing to play with Axl again! But Ax is too proud to let it happen, he had several more rounds planned and we are still on 1.

  7. Not bad.

Can you recommend any other songs?

Here are some of my favorites. I feel this is better than telling you to listen to each song in their discography. (Which is what I really recommend) :P

Mechanical Resonance (1986): Comin' Atcha Live, Little Suzi

The Great Radio Controversy (1989): Heaven's Trail, Love Song, The Way It Is

Psychotic Supper (1991) [THE Tesla Album]: Call It What You Want, Freedom Slaves, What You Give

Bust a Nut (1994): Invited, Rubberband, Try So Hard

Into The Now (2004): Come To Me, Into the Now

A Peace of Time (2007): Signs
