  1. NGOG, like it or not, Slash still does have a career outside of GN'R. It's obvious to me that he is passive aggressive as fuck and wants back in with Axl. But, I don't think Slash is breathing heavily on a Tuesday night, breaking his F5 key on his keyboard to see what new Guns played after Mr. Brownstone.

Slash has a successful career, a family--better said, the dude has a life. And GN'R was a part of that, and he would love to make it a part of his life again. Sure, he is sad and bitter about not being let in, and also having a litany of guitarists fuck up everything he ever did, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that he follows this band, especially well enough to know the bassist's name, just because Slash himself was once in the band.

  2. Link isn't working. I tried showing someone in Vegas, and ED was down also. Does anyone have a good link to it?

Wow, way to party it up in Vegas.

Well when you're there with a bunch of forum people the topic of the forum is bound to come up at some point

I thought some of the new stuff about BBF, Beta, etc. is a little harsh. But I literally lol'd at this part:

    Setlists

The favorite topic among unemployed 40-year-olds of all music fanbases. Who gives a shit what 99% of the people actually at the shows want to hear, right? It's all about you, refreshing that "SHOW THREAD: GUNS N' ROSES AT HUEHUEHUE ARENA, BRASIL" at 5:00AM in your underwear. Did he not play that one song from the Chinese Democracy album that nobody bought? Fuck him. He's doing nothing but dragging this band into the ground by touring the same songs year after year after year and refusing to play/release music. Axl Rose is a fucking asshole. He should just retire and save us all the grief. ...Wait, what? He played Prostitute? And There Was A Time? And fucking YESTERDAYS???? OH MY FUCKING GOD. GNR = BEST BAND EVER. AXL ROSE IS AMAZING. THANK YOU BETA BY TAKE CARE HIM. WE BELIEVE NOW EVEN MORE.

What got me was the "Welcome to the Jungle It's So Easy Mr Brownstone Richard Fortus Solo Live and Let Die Tour"

    I was crying man.

  3. The dude's 52. There's just no way.

Stephanie was his last chance. Dylan was his kid. And he probably still kicks himself over Erin.

Axl surrounds himself with TB I'm guessing to fill the void of him never getting that fairy tale family he always wanted, whether in child or adulthood. Listen to the lyrics in CD, and you know Axl is still bitter over XYZ from his past, and because of the difficulties and stress of Erin and Steph, I doubt he would ever truly want to try again. I'd say Axl Rose is done with love. He's trying to get every slice of poon in that he can before he can't no more.

  4. I absolutely loved everything they did up to and including Into The Now. I thought their last record (Forevermore) was just terrible. I haven't got around to listening to the new one yet, but I'm hoping for better.

Well, their last record was in 2011 Twisted Wires and The Acoustic Sessions. It has two new songs Better Off Without You and Second Street, both of which are wonderful. They redid some of the classics, and every version sounds sick. Jeff's voice is just so raw and stripped down. I really like what he did with Shine Away!

Forevermore was iffy. They were going for a harder, faster sound. It was a risk, and was hit or miss with the fanbase. I enjoyed So What! and The First Time.

  5. I didn't know this had came out.

I LOVE Tesla, one of the 3-4 most underrated bands of the last 25 years.

Every few years they put out a really solid album that will have 2-3 really great songs. A lot of the old-school rock bands are still out there touring and putting out albums, but Tesla actually releases songs that are just as good as songs from the eras prime time. Caught In A Dream - check out that song.

I shall check it out tonight and get back to you with a review.

It certainly isn't as good as Into the Now or Forever More. And even though Twisted Wires only had a song or two of new material, I still enjoyed that album much more than Simplicity.

Jeff still sounds the same, and Tesla in general loves releasing new music for their fans, so I can't really complain about anything. Lyrics are a little corny on this record, or at least they are in comparison to the others. Just an average album with one or two knockout songs, like you pointed out. (At the moment, I'm digging Cross My Heart and Sympathy).

  6. However, according to the lunatics, Axl has integrity and they even applaud that attitude. The ad proves they were 100% wrong. He's a sell out, just like almost everyone in the music business and there's nothing wrong with that. A normal human being who chose to be an artist needs to sell their product.

It proves it even more so than before. Appetite for Democracy and really just 2012 in general came close to sinking the integrity ship all together.

  7. I could never quite understand the stigma of how Axl was a bad songwriter, because I've yet to find one who is better.

John Lennon, Joe Strummer, Harry Nilsson, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits...in the field of like, 'big names', in terms of songwriter, Axl is somewhere near the bottom for me.

Out of interest though, what about the lyrics you posted make you think that they are evidence of Axl being an exceptional songwriter? Seemed kinda trite to me, just sayin'.

Coincidentally, the artists you've listed wouldn't even come close to the top of my list. (Maybe with the exception of Lennon, but I'd have to sit down and think for a while).

I don't know exactly how to answer your question. I don't think there is really any way to. You could post some Dylan lyrics, and I could ask you the same question. We are dealing with a very subjective subject matter; there's no evidence per se to support point A or B.

Axl's an exceptional songwriter, to me, for the same reason I imagine the artists you listed are to you. I am attracted to how Axl writes and sings a story. His rhyming patterns, his distortions of certain words--all genius to me--and I'm no stranger to poetry. As I mentioned earlier, I feel like Axl and I are parallel characters in the same book. It's kinda hard for me to get my rocks off to Lennon's Imagine, while I might agree with his message, it doesn't hit me. Estranged hits me; it's my life on display. It's everything I had ever felt at one point in time just thrown into song.

The only thing I find trite about Axl's lyrics is in AFD, and Axl on some level would agree with that. He spent years trying to get away from it, there were more important matters to write about than booze and loose women. The Illusions records show a departure from that a great deal, and CD there's virtually no trace of it.

To wrap this up, I guess at the end of the day Axl is just the guy for me.

So its significantly to do with the way he sings as opposed to like, his writing or...?

It's as if you didn't even read my first two posts.

  9. My favorite is Your Time Is Gonna Come, the other nine are in no particular order:

Hey Hey What Can I Do

    All My Love

    Dazed and Confused

    Friends

    Tangerine

    Stairway to Heaven

    Kashmir

    In The Light

    The Crunge

And I'm positive my answer will be different in about 20 minutes. Their entire discography is flawless to me.
