I'm not really hearing it be talked about anywhere, probably because of The General video release but what stands out is he named the track. I can't really think about when he has done that before, back in 95/96 he would mention in random interviews with hitparader ect that they were working on songs but said he wouldn't name them.

Given that the 'Peace would last forever' line came from him in Civil war and him naming the song here & calling it a sequel it would suggest he has some serious belief in the song. I hope a version leaks someday doubt it will be released but I can hope i guess

Where did Duff mention this Amen track?

Ron is a good guy. He was essentially bullied by the other guys (at least when he first joined the band) and got sick of the bullshit and drama from Team Brazil. In my eyes, he had plenty to moan about.

Yeah, Ron got a raw deal from pretty up everyone, even fans. I remember back in 2013 he publicly complained about not being able to get an update from TB and after that TB responded and Ron said it was all good. That twat UK SUBS that used to own this place gave him shit over it and mocked him, saying he was trying to garner fan sympathy. It's like, what the fuck do you expect him to do, if management won't even respond to you then you have every right to call them out publicly if that's what it takes to get them to respond.

Universal backlash my ass. I see a lot of people attempting to create this narrative that "everyone hates" The General but all I see is a bunch of knee jerk reactions and then a whole lot of people who actually gave it a proper listen or two and appreciate the song. A lot of positive comments as well.

The nonsense posted on YouTube, Facebook or Twitter is totally insignficant to a brand of GN'R proportions.

Plenty of people who hate the song also gave it a proper listen.

  4. My opinion on The General after over a month is that Axl's lyrics and vocal melodies are very strong. The effects don't really work with Axl's voice, it seems he was going for a Manson type sound but it just doesn't mesh well with his style. I think the weak point of the song is the instrumental itself, people describe it as creepy but to me its cheesy as fuck and dilutes the power of the lyrics. I feel the same way about Sorry, people complain about Axl's lyrics being weak despite the music being strong, yet I feel the opposite. Guess I just don't care for Brain as a composer.

    3.Catcher In The Rye (album)

    4.If The World (album)

    7.Shackler's Revenge

8.Oh My God (End Of Days)

    9.The Blues (demo or live)

    10.The General

    11.Hard School (either version)

    12.Chinese Democracy (album)

    20.Perhaps (demo)

    21.IRS (demo)

    22.Atlas Shrugged

    23.Absurd (Slash version)

  6. Not too knowledgeable on Wolfmother but By The Sword has better vocals, lyrics and melodies than anything Myles did with Slash. I assume Slash picked Myles so he could play a varied set with lots of GNR added in but it's still a shame to think about four whole Slash albums full of great instrumentals pissed down the drain with Myles when almost anyone else would have been better.

And what are Melissa's contributions exactly? She hasn't had the chance to write any studio parts yet.

If you do know, can I have next week's lottery numbers too please?

She is playing keyboards in Hard Skool, which Caram buried so far in the mix you can barely hear them. So you're right, we haven't heard much from her in the band. But I found her "Regards" collaborations with Bucket and Brain to be very substandard and unimpressive. Certainly didn't have any cool melodies like the songs Pitman co-wrote on CD.

And according to Slash FTP origins from a later situation. I think from 2001 when he was working with some dudes from a band that I forgot the name of. Jellyfish maybe...?

    Blackstar knows for sure

It's unlikely that Axl is lying about Slash presenting FTP in 1996. Slash may have forgot, or it may have been something similar to FTP but not quite the same and Axl is misremembering, or it could be different parts of the songs were constructed at different times (I think Axl said Slash played him the "key parts" in 1996). I just don't believe that we can know for certain that FTP was one of the songs Axl wanted Slash to play on in 2001 based off Marc's comment, because it was never mentioned before, and Marc has had a bad memory when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I think Fall to Pieces is really boring and we already had This I Love to fill this whole on CD.

But I always assumed that the three songs Axl wanted Slash were CD tracks, like TIL, Street of Dreams and some other from the Village sessions.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say I don't view Marc's recent statement as confirmation of anything. Marc didn't have the best memory of individual songs while Canter Banter was active here. I assume he remembers Axl's public comment about wanting to have worked on FTP and is conflating that with Axl's 3 song conversation with him in 2001. Certainly wouldn't be the first time he's got his info mixed up.

No, there's no reason to believe it's real. For one, it doesn't make sense that stuff like that would be on Beta's email, so I'm inclined to think that it's fabricated.

Very possible, but I think Axl did use Beta's email, if I recall that's how Axl found out Reckless Road was coming out and got pissed at Marc.
